  1. It may be able to be sanded and polished like a headlight cover but I haven't read about anyone doing this, yet.
  2. So get it up to about 140 mph in a hurry and that should fix it? 🙂
  3. The Fiero and Saturn bodies were plastic but the corvette bodies were always a composite, possibly including fiberglass.
  4. Aluminum is non-magnetic. Could that be the material? Some vehicles' lower sections are made of plastic or composite to prevent rust from road salt.
  5. $5000 for replacing an oil pan gasket? I've helped a friend replace his transmission gasket and filter; that was not difficult, but I'm baffled why an oil pan would be so hard to remove and its gasket swapped with a new one. I suggest getting a quote from both a Toyota dealership and a trusted independent auto repair shop.
  6. I have read the same - There is no actual fix for this problem. Apparently, Lexus has revised the actuator more than once, yet have not been successful in permanently fixing the problem. I wonder if your dealership would loan you a car to use until a fix is designed.
  7. Perhaps it'd be worthwhile to give them a call to see if the only reason they state that is because of one or more features wouldn't work. It wouldn't hurt to call.
  8. Have you checked out Crutchfield.com? They are experts at car audio replacements.
  9. If your owner's manual does not specifically state that your engine can use E85, then either have it siphoned out or try Lex Lex's suggestion about filling up the tank with non-E85 gas and use it up as soon as you can.
  10. Is your reason because of your garage door height? If so, that can be adjusted.
  11. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe I had the dealership do this when some other service was done. However, I found this: Getting Started - Adjusting Tailgate Height First, locate your Lexus' tailgate operating button up under the rear part of the tailgate when it is open. Pressing that button causes the door to begin to close. A second push will stop it. Use that second push feature to stop the door when it has lowered to the height that is right for you. If you are short of stature and can't reach it, we suggest asking a taller family member to help out. Adjustment Height Is Easy After you have pushed the button a second time and you are sure it is the height you would like it to open to in the future, simply push and hold that same button again for two full seconds. We suggest counting off "One chimpanzee, two chimpanzees", but use your own method if you so prefer. Once you have held it that long, the RX or NX is going to buzz at you. Don't take it personally. It might (should) buzz four times to let you know that it has accepted your settings. Now push it once to let it down and try it out.
  12. The advantage is primarily, cost. You can get a high-quality filter with o-ring for less than $8.00, whereas a traditional high-quality filter with steel housing can easily cost double that.
  13. Sometimes when a battery has one or more bad cells, a vehicle's dash will show one or more warning illuminations. Did you have your battery load-tested? Another potential culprit may be wiring that has been damaged, water-soaked, or chewed up by a rodent.
  14. You might want to review this video: https://youtu.be/niKAYNDFhHM Lexus ES350 AC not working - causes and how to fix it (wheelsjoint.com)
  15. How about KYBs? I think they are available at rockauto, com
  16. I have never had that happen with our 2006 RX400h, and I have always replaced the batteries. But take a look at this: Lexus Won't Start After Replacing | Disconnecting Battery (youcanic.com)
  17. I found this post by a 2010 RX owner: Thanks for that dan,now been in to see manager of the dealership again. They have now said the headunit is not covered by the warranty because the car is over 5 years old.But as ive had the problem since purchase and they have had the car in 6 times they are going to cover the cost.Fingers crossed this sorts it and car goes on on thurs Just to let you know dan,new head unit fitted on thurs and I have driven 300miles over weekend and the radio has not switched off once.Problem sorted thanks again lexus you deliver again
  18. Have you checked to see if Lexus technicians use a tool to cycle the ABS module? This was necessary for bleeding brakes on my 2001 Corvette, so I let the dealership do it. Of course, it could still be your master cylinder.
  19. Porsche made a fortune when they created the Cayenne for those who already had a 911 but also had a family. Of course, the Cayenne just HAD to have sportscar DNA in it. Perhaps Lexus felt that they should do the same for sports car owners who wanted a Lexus SUV with some of the same "spirit".
  20. Nice job! I have to ask why you want beefier sway bars for an SUV. Are you planning to track it?
  21. If you were buying an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, then yes, you would need the warranty. Lexus is rated the most reliable auto company among 27 others by Consumer Reports, so definitely get rid of those charges. I would think that the email is proof but it's always best to get any deals in writing such that there are signatures. You can always go to small claims court if you have to.
  22. How about this one? ....or did you see this, previously?
  23. White potatoes are on the same "no" list as corn.😏 Sweet potatoes = 👍
  24. Good. I would take the $500 and have the car towed to a well-rated shop, especially one that has worked on your model, a non-hybrid version, or a different model but with the same engine. If they never have, consider a well-rated Toyota dealership.
