If visual checks for wire electrical shorts turn up nothing, you may want to take it to an Auto Electric Shop. Their expertise is troubleshooting electrical issues and they are typically very good at it.

I would use an OBD II scanner to see what the code is, first. If you don't have one, stop by an auto parts store and ask if they will do it for you (typically, no charge for that). Scanners can sometimes delete the code but if there is a malfunctioning part, the warning light will illuminate again.

From model years 2012-2016, Consumer Reports shows that all have an overall reliability rating of "much better than average". Only the 2015 has a category that earned a "worse than average" rating. This was for "In-Car Electronics" which includes: Audio system Entertainment system Navigation system Backup camera/sensors Communication system Also, model year 2014's major and minor engine category were rated only average vs. much better than average for other years. Of course, previous owners' maintenance history is very important for certain items like oil and other fluid changes, as well as filter changes. Hopefully, the previous owner(s) maintained a list or folder of all services done to the car.

Yes, I rarely see any unless I attend a muscle car cars & coffee event (always fun). The guy in Texas who bought my 68, used to own a 69 Corvette but his garage and car burned to the ground. He was very happy to find my car for sale in the Corvette forum. Did you try rotating the steering wheel, left and right while trying to rotate the ignition key? If you were to inadvertently rotate the steering wheel and cause it to lock, what you describe would happen.

I hear you; I've been improving cars for years. I sold my 68 Corvette in 2001. It had a ZZ3 crate engine installed (with the original 327-350HP engine), Doug Thorley Headers, Super Turbo mufflers, all new suspension bushings, and fiberglass leaf springs in the back with new coil springs up front. The buyer told me recently that he still has and loves the car.

Bill, please excuse the lack of responses. It seems that there are a small number of Lexus owners who do this kind of work on their vehicles, but the majority have it done by professional mechanics. Hopefully you'll get it straightened out before long.

I believe (based upon a short search) you have to remove the tire before removing 4 screws on fender cover that is close to side marker light. Pull fender cover out a bit for you to use your other hand to reach side marker light. Twist and remove the bulb.

Bill, at 12:22 in this video, the commentator explicitly states that your Lexus will not automatically lock when you leave the vehicle. I believe her instructions are for all newer Lexus models.

I'm sorry to see what you are going through, Jimmie. It looks like you are limited to local tire shops and maybe used wheels-by-owner. Have you perused Toyota forums to see if there are any for sale?

As per Consumer Reports, you won't find an ultra-high performance all-season or summer tire with better than average ride quality. Of the performance all-season tires, there are quite a few, starting with the Michelin CrossClimate2. It also has a better than average noise rating. Keep in mind that I do not know if any are available in your car's size. Others with better than average ride quality) are (in order of overall score): Nexen N5000 Platinum Yokohama Avid Ascend LX Nokian WRG4 (all-weather)

There's an old saying that all belts and hoses should be replaced after 6 years. How many owners do that? At some point, rubber and plastics lose the plasticizing compounds within them, causing them to become hard and brittle. Fortunately, a visual and feel test can typically identify a ready-to-fail hose or belt.

I hope you don't buy super-cheap tires for a vehicle like that. 😏 Then again, you can go the used route with wheels and tires. I've bought used Enkei wheels before and still have them.

Are you in New Jersey or Canada? tirerack.com has tire and wheel packages. There is a separate category for Winter tires and wheels. You would choose the four tires, then select qty of 4 wheels and a couple of options. I believe the tire/wheel package includes the tires mounted to the wheels and balanced. Many vehicle drivers in the snow belt of states here in the US keep an extra set of winter tires and wheels that they swap on for snow season. Many do the swap, themselves.

I like it. We bought our Bamboo Pearl RX during a time when there weren't many around. Belore long, there were many RX350s and 400hs with the same color. Today, this color is fairly rare on the street. We still love it and it has held up well, except on top of the side-view mirrors. There is a Lexus Nori Green that is getting popular but really, greens have been fairly rare over the last 10 years. The vast majority of vehicles are painted white, black, silver, gray, red, and a dark gray. Darker colors and silver seemed to be damaged by UV after 6-10 years but perhaps paints have become more resistant to constant exposure.

That's great news, Twan. Where did you find the replacement motor? I used to do brake servicing in our garage but decided to have them done by professionals as I got older. And since our frequency of driving is reduced, the need for brake service is widely spaced. I still change engine and transmission oils, as well as air filters, myself. I would say that the bulk of our driving is on the highway, now that we are mostly retired. Historically our average with all-wheel drive has been 25-27 MPG, so your fuel mileage appears to be exceptional. Is it mostly city (stop & go) driving? At the time we bought our RX400h, the non-hybrid versions were RX330s which were averaging about 19 MPG, city/highway.
