  1. You're welcome.👍
  2. CoPilot: Starter vs. Water Pump Replacement Since both tasks are quite involved, it's generally a good idea to start with the starter replacement first. This is because the starter is located in a more accessible area compared to the water pump, which requires removing many components like the timing belt, pulleys, and possibly the intake manifold. By tackling the starter first, you'll avoid having to reassemble and then disassemble parts again. Cluster Gauge Map As for the cluster gauge map, I couldn't find a specific map for the 1991 Lexus LS400, but you might be able to find it in a repair manual or by contacting a Lexus dealership for detailed schematics.
  3. It could be, as both the coolant and transmission fluid are pink/reddish.
  4. You can sometimes find a shifter boot and shifter slide for your 2008 Lexus SC430 on websites like Amazon and LexusPartsNow. Here are a few options: Amazon: You can find the LEXUS Genuine Shift Console Slide Cover OEM 35975-53020. It's a genuine Lexus part and is available for around $17.98. LexusPartsNow: They offer the Lexus 35975-53020 Cover, Slide for around $26.92. This part is also genuine and fits various Lexus models. It's always a good idea to double-check compatibility with your specific vehicle before purchasing.
  5. I would search for the maintenance schedule to ascertain what was required and when it was completed. Then, I would have the vehicle inspected before commiting to the purchase.
  6. Most independent service shops can do a timing belt change, but I'm not sure if the same would be true of replacing a steering column. When researching indy shops, I would check telp.com and then ask any promising shops whether they have done similar work. Also, request a quote from your local Toyota dealership. Their rates are typically lower. Good luck!

Your title made me believe you are interested in the NX. Here are larger choices:
  9. Those are amazing photos, John. I may add this to my bucket list, which is being reduced since 2021.🙂
  10. I have a Supra with a ZF 8 transmission, and it is among the fastest-shifting transmissions I have ever experienced. However, I have a feeling that the effort and expense to swap may not be worth having done. In the Supra world, there are shops that "upgrade" the ZF 8. It is used in many models of BMW and other auto manufacturer's vehicles. Have you looked into shops that do the same with your transmission? How about the ISF or IS500 transmission? Would either fit?
  11. I am in the San Diego area, but I have taken our Lexus to a local Toyota dealership for some services. The cost is almost always lower than that of Lexus dealerships. You may also want to peruse yelp.com for comments about various independent auto repair shops.
  12. Nice island! You should be able to reset the oil change reminder, yourself. From CoPilot:

  14. I agree that this would be a cautious approach, although I know quite a few people who have over 100,000 miles on their auto transmissions without any signs of issues. My son changed had his 2012 Mazda 3 transmission fluid changed at 100,000 miles. It had never and is not now having any problems. Our 19.5 year-old RX400h now has over 140,000 miles on it. The service booklet recommends changing the transmission fluid only if the vehicle is regularly driven in the desert, dirt roads, and/or to tow a trailer (up to 3500 lbs), I believe. Most likely, we have already had the fluid changed at least once. Of all the auto manufacturers, I would say that Toyota/Lexus is the least likely to engineer their vehicles to fail after the warranty expires if no maintenance schedule for a fluid change is listed.
  15. I would say that it is the latter. An improperly torqued nut can certainly loosen over time.
