  1. Have you checked to see if Lexus technicians use a tool to cycle the ABS module? This was necessary for bleeding brakes on my 2001 Corvette, so I let the dealership do it. Of course, it could still be your master cylinder.
  2. Porsche made a fortune when they created the Cayenne for those who already had a 911 but also had a family. Of course, the Cayenne just HAD to have sportscar DNA in it. Perhaps Lexus felt that they should do the same for sports car owners who wanted a Lexus SUV with some of the same "spirit".
  3. Nice job! I have to ask why you want beefier sway bars for an SUV. Are you planning to track it?
  4. If you were buying an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, then yes, you would need the warranty. Lexus is rated the most reliable auto company among 27 others by Consumer Reports, so definitely get rid of those charges. I would think that the email is proof but it's always best to get any deals in writing such that there are signatures. You can always go to small claims court if you have to.
  5. How about this one? ....or did you see this, previously?
  6. White potatoes are on the same "no" list as corn.😏 Sweet potatoes = 👍
  7. Good. I would take the $500 and have the car towed to a well-rated shop, especially one that has worked on your model, a non-hybrid version, or a different model but with the same engine. If they never have, consider a well-rated Toyota dealership.
  8. Now you know what a good mechanic does to verify whether the head gasket is leaking. Knowing this information enables you to ascertain whether the mechanic verified the leakages without removing the head(s). If you do have your vehicle towed, make up a list of current symptoms, beforehand, but don't tell the new mechanic what the previous mechanics believe to be the culprit. Do give the new mechanic that list of current symptoms.
  9. That's a good one. I watch this channel every so often. The Sequoia in the video has 300,000 miles on it and it is only now having head gasket leakage. The question is: Did the dealership do their due diligence?
  10. I did not see mention of the model and year but the complaints are for hybrids. There is mention of body seams separating and allowing water in. The question is: Is that a design issue? If we look at Consumer Reports data from tens of thousands of RX hybrids, this issue is never mentioned. I wonder if any or all of these vehicles were taken off-road which RX models are clearly not designed for.
  11. Back in the late 90s, Corvette lead acid batteries were leaking acid on electrical and vacuum components, underneath. Some owners caught the leak before it caused extensive damage but many did not. GM eventually changed the battery to an AGM-type which is far more leak-proof. I am puzzled how water did that much damage without your noticing it. Water on the battery would not do that, however, water on an engine control unit circuit board could certainly cause issues. Previously flooded vehicles are notorious for causing all kinds of havoc on electrical systems. Your issues appear to be similar to those of a flooded vehicle. You may want to contact Lexus Customer Care to discuss the matter. Also, if you have a Bureau of Automotive Repair as we do in California, call them. Search for complaints by other RX400 owners who have had similar issues due to drain clogging. Worst case is that you scrap the RX and accept the loss. We rarely park under trees or other vegetation that can cause blockage of the drain channels.
  12. There is not enough data for the 2019 and 2020 models but the 2018 model's "Climate system" is rated as average. All model years before that were either better than average or much better than average in that category. Who replaced the motors?
  13. Frankly, this is insane advice. Unless you already destroyed your engine by overheating it, swapping in a used engine is not only a potentially more expensive option, but is also very risky. When I was 21, I had my 68 Cougar's engine swapped by one pulled from another 68 Cougar. The engine lasted about 1 year. Did you compare local shops on yelp.com? I would do the same for Toyota dealerships and their service departments. Conduct your due diligence and get back to us. By the way, a Highlander with 68K miles for 1250 shipped is HIGHLY suspicious.
  14. 1. Did you buy Lexus/Toyota OEM oxygen sensors? If not, that may be why the check light is still illuminated. Did you delete the code(s)? Mass air flow sensors can often be cleaned with CDC Mass Air Flow cleaner spray but a new OEM unit should've fixed the problem if you cleared the codes. Did you buy an OEM MAF sensor? 2. Steering shakes over 60. That may be an unbalanced wheel/tire. Take your car to a tire shop. Discount tire will do this for free if you bought tires from them before. A shaking steering wheel could also indicate worn suspension components. Try the balancing, first but if that doesn't work, have the front end checked as soon as possible. 3. You should avoid buying a vehicle in which the owner removed the air filter.
  15. Thanks, Kalvin. Is that information not in the owner's manual?
  16. Sedans are less likely to overturn in an accident but really, you don't need an SUV to be safe. The EX300h is not a tiny car by any stretch of the imagination., so unless everyone in your town is driving a Suburban or Hummer, you and your family will be very safe.
  17. I have read that if it is the servo motor actuator, the manual-listed labor is approximately 6 hours - might not be something you'd want to do without a service manual. This is not uncommon with 20 year-old vehicles.
  18. You might suggest that he read "The Longevity Paradox" by Dr, Steven Gundry. I think it's an excellent book about how to live a long, healthy life.
  19. I have a friend with a 1997 Toyota Avalon with V6 engine. It has 295,000 miles on it and has not yet required head gaskets. That's why I am a bit skeptical about that diagnosis. You may want to ask your cousin how many sub-200,000 mile Toyotas with V6 engines have had to have their head gaskets replaced.
  20. My sister just picked up her new ES300h, yesterday and she and her husband love it. Since they live in New England, it will surely see some snow-covered drives but of course, your Winters are likely to be more severe. As you know, Winter tires make a big difference on snow, compared to all-season tires. The best news is its fuel mileage - much better than the NX450h on the highway.
  21. I'm curious why you needed to change the fuel injectors on a brand new car. (2022 as shown under your name)
  22. Here's a post that contains a few possibilities: Metallic Noise When Going Over Speed Bumps / Potholes - Brakes & Suspension - Lexus Owners Club The engine appears to be rotating more than it should, so worn motor mount(s) is a possibility.
  23. Ours has about 134,000 miles on it. The worry I'd have if I were you is whether you'd be able to sell it when it is not running well and if you are not perfectly sure what is causing the drivability issues. Why don't you call a towing company to see what the cost would be to tow it to the closest Toyota or yelp-recommended independent shop?
