Toyota is really funny about things like that. In fact, if it weren't for the advertising we and ClubLexus give them I bet they would ban us from using the word "Lexus" on the sites anywhere. I know they are very tight with the merchandising rights to their name, logos, etc...moreso of "Lexus" than "Toyota". I have talked to several places that sell license frames and keychains etc and asked why Lexus merchandise was always a little more expensive and the answer was Lexus charges for the use of their name and other carmakers don't...

This your first Lexus? They really don't age like other vehicles...I always say they never give you a reason to replace them. I agree, I also like Rey. If he wants to post here...or anywhere though and be happy he'll have to come to grips with the fact that people who don't share his opinions are also going to post here...and we don't discriminate against our members based on their opinions provided they express them in a polite manner. Rey's always welcome here...his departure was entirely his own choosing.

Absolutely it will be covered...just tell them the heater doesn't work and let them diagnose and fix it.

The beauty of warranties. I'd just let Lexus fix it...

The RL is not a luxury sedan of the same caliber of the LS, S Class, 7 series, etc whether its FWD, AWD, or RWD. The A8 however is an entirely different caliber of vehicle. I don't think you'd find many enthusiasts who wouldn't put it in the same class as the LS. I define cars by how they are built and the performance they deliver, its a shame that you just automatically discount something because of the setup of its drivetrain. The A8 is a really, really nice car. Go test drive one. Great interior, great quality, reasonably priced. To say its not a "true luxury car" because its AWD is just...not accurate.

This is one of those situations where, while playing around with everything and constantly modding and plugging and unplugging may be fun, you're also going to run into these kinds of problems. Bear in mind that this is probably going to be a bigger problem with your 400h than it was your 300 due to cost cutting on the newer models. If it were my car, I'd only dig in there when I absolutely had to. If I remember correctly part of the issue you were having with your 300 was electrical problems that you yourself attributed to your modifications. Its not a toy...its a $50,000 vehicle.

You can go on believing that if you want. If you think the ES is worthwhile to use as a race car that alone proves you have no idea what you are talking about. Do yourself and all of us who share the road with you a favor. Take some time and actually learn what you are talking about. Braking and accelerating in a curve with a FWD car can introduce some tricky geometry into your driving process, it could lead to an accident, and it creates unnecessary wear on the brakes and drivetrain of your vehicle. If you're in such a hurry that you are modulating the throttle and brakes through turns you need to grow up and do what other responsible adults do when they aren't getting to their destinations on time...leave earlier.

There's always going to be a difference in the feel of the engine, the tone of the engine's sound, and the RPM when you shift to a drive gear, meaning DRIVE or REVERSE. When the engine is idling in park or neutral there is no load on the engine, when its shifted into a drive gear the engine is connected to the drivetrain and there is a load placed on it. Its probably normal.

I would defy you to be able to tell the difference between an AWD and RWD LS460 without looking at the badging. The AWD LS460, and the Benz and BMW systems ARE RWD for the most part until wheel slippage occurs and then they send some power to the front. That "connection" is just in your head. Rolls Royces didn't even have keyless entry until recently...have you ever driven a Rolls Royce? I'd actually prefer to have an LS...thats the honest truth. Rolls is to be driven in...not to drive, they drive like trucks really.

Just to clarify, does this noise kinda sound like a hamster wheel spinning? Thats the noise I have...

Thats fine to say if it never snows. Having owned a RWD LS where it snows, I'll take AWD. Plenty of luxury sedans out there in AWD today...BMW...Mercedes... As for part sharing...plenty of switchgear on the LS that is shared with the Toyota line...the steering wheel thats in your LS is used on the Toyota Land Cruiser for instance...

Have you ever driven an A8? The A8 is a beautiful car. Very well crafted, great interiors. Its better than RWD...its AWD... Bland? Its no more bland than the LS...

Its just simply that whoever had the car previously had an alignment done poorly at some point. I very commonly have to take the car back and have it re-aligned because they failed to properly center the steering wheel...
