  1. I didn't see this post, so you're right: However...I fail to see your issue with this post. It was directed towards the OP...who is dissatisfied with his car. He simply, and very respectfully made him a suggestion towards a car he might find more suitable because he had been in the same situation himself. The only possible issue one could have with this post is that this poster preferred the Murano to the Lexus...and thats not fair...and you trying to paint him as a troll isn't fair either. I'm glad you apologized...because he deserved an apology.
  2. The RX and Highlander sell way better...no question. They produce a lot more of them too. BUT, just because something sells slower doesn't mean its not a great vehicle. Nissan has fewer dealers, produces fewer cars. They're going to sell fewer vehicles. Don't trust your own experience though. Being that you really like the RX you're going to notice them more in traffic than you would a vehicle you don't have interest in...like the Murano. I see a LOT of Muranos around here...not as many as the RX or Highlander...but its a very solid selling vehicle. Have you driven a new Murano? Go drive one... Check out this comparison test: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?cmd=...&id=4179355
  3. Then I'll say it. If you can't handle it Ray, you should leave. I'm serious...you're so dramatic. This is a car forum...its supposed to be fun and all viewpoints are welcome here. If all you want to read is the viewpoints of people who think exactly like you...write down what you want to read in a journal...and read that. If you can't handle opposing viewpoints then a public discussion forum isn't the place for you. Sorry to be curt, but you whine and complain a lot. If this gets you "depressed" and "hurt"...you need to seek the help of a professional. I mean that. Its not normal to get depressed listening to people talk about the fact that they like a car that isn't yours. Its just a car. The RX is a great vehicle...and I'm about as big a Lexus fan as anybody here...but there are other vehicles on the market and its not the best vehicle for everyone. Discussing it frankly and honestly is only a good thing. I'm tired of reading you say this every few months. If you're going to leave...leave. If you're going to stay, stay but you have to grow up a little about this and understand that people have a right to express their viewpoints even if you disagree, and you need to learn not to get into discussions you can't deal with. Calling us whiny? Thats hilarious...really.
  4. He did not bring up the subject of Nissan, he responded to the statement made by RX400h. It only makes sense he would reference the Murano...based on its similarity to the RX and his personal experience with it. And the only reason to make a comment that he should find another forum to post on is that he would somehow be unwelcome to post his viewpoints here...which is not the case...trust me. Have you ever driven the new Murano? Its certainly not a tin can...rides and drives at least as well as the RX, and has a very nice interior for a LOT less money. The previous Murano I never cared for...although it drove well also. Any comparison is unfair...the Nissan is not a luxury branded car. Remember...its $20,000 cheaper. Lexus service is great...which it oughta be for $120 an hour. I'm not saying the Highlander or the RX aren't good vehicles. They're great vehicles...but the Murano is a great vehicle too and is very legitimate competition or both. Not everybody cares about fuel economy first and foremost...if all you care about is fuel economy the RX400h is the wrong vehicle anyways. I think you're wrong. As the midmarket carmakers move upscale people are going to increasingly cross shop. I promise you people are looking at the RX and the Murano. Look at smooth1's latest purchase thread in the general forum...he bought an ML320 and drove the Murano...Subaru Outback...plenty of non-luxury brand vehicles.
  5. It can be done, and in this particular Lexus the engine would have hit the rev limiter and been shut down. For some reason he didn't do that...
  6. Thats just not an accurate statement. I know several people with Muranos and none have had any problems. You should go drive one...its a really nice vehicle and they are very reasonably priced. Doesn't do Lexus or us any favors pretending that the RX is the only car on the road worth buying. Its not...there are a LOT of other great offerings in that segment... He wasn't the one who brought up the Murano, he was responding to a statement made by RX400h. I saw nothing wrong or trollish about his comments at all. The 04-09 RX is 6 model years old...the Murano is new...comparing the new Murano to the new RX the RX has a lot more plusses, but IMHO the Murano is more vehicle than the previous RX for a lot less money.
  7. Nice! Can you post some pics? I'd like to see the molding on the 2010, as well as your optional wheels....
  8. Its all in a situation of panic. Had he put the car in neutral they would have been fine...had he been able to shut the car off...they would have been fine. Honestly...I'm really tempted to see if I can get a steal on a 2010 right now because of this... "Isn't this the car that hurtles off into the abyss assuring certain death to all who ride in it? I'll give you $30k"
  9. Mine has a similar material...
  10. Awesome work! Good to see you here...
  11. The RXh is also $20-25,000 more than a fully loaded Murano. Hardly a fair comparison. The new Murano is really nice, and I would buy one over an 04-09 RX (gas or hybrid) anyday. The 2010 is a different story...but with the price difference I'd still lean heavily towards the Murano.
  12. Or you could just install the mats properly and use the hooks. Anyways the issue lies with the rubber mats...not the carpeted mats. The car the CHP officer was driving had winter mats from the wrong model Lexus. Common sense must come into play. With the hooks properly installed there is just no way for the mats to get anywhere near the gas pedal. If you get down there and pull forward with all your stregnth, they don't budge.
  13. Honestly? I would buy one of those cars without hesitation despite this "unintended acceleration" issue. There are 102 complaints to the NHTSA site since 2006 for the ES, Camry, Prius, IS, etc/ Do you know how many cars that is? They sell 80k ES's a year, so just there is 240k cars. They sell about 150k Camrys a year, and 100k Prius'es and probably 40k IS's. Add that all up and do the math...this is a VERY uncommon issue...and I'm almost certain its going to be linked to driver error. In fact, you can use this news story as a bargaining chip and get a great deal...I'm tempted to... 3.8million cars recalled, 102 complaints....000003%.... If you're going to buy used anyways...I'd be tempted to buy an older LS...
  14. My guess is cars equipped that way will be almost nonexistant...very little market for that car IMHO.
  15. I've tried a couple of their Ice products, and personally wasn't impressed.
  16. Lexus does have a similar system now...just coming out on the '09s. OnStar is the same way...
  17. Yeah the Nissan/Infiniti birdseye option is cool...
  18. Thats just the issue...it worked out for you...but I have had several bad aftermarket windshields. Its hit or miss. The question is...why take the chance?
  19. You can buy it all the way up until the original warranty runs out. I bought it...and it was worthwhile. Contact Toby Rivers through here for a deal...
  20. That is not always the case...there are honest service reps out there.
  21. I can understand why. Both his cars have the smart key, so he never uses the buttons on the fob, the doors unlock when he puts his hand on the handles and he uses the start button to start the car...hence why it would be a benefit to have both on the same key...
  22. But...why? My dad's 04 has the UL package...and the stuff in the rear was fun for all of a week, and he never gets to enjoy it. Sure theres "oohs" and "aahs" when people get in the car back there but if you're planning on keeping the car for a long time, its just more to break alongside the air suspension. The features I like about the UL package are the radar cruise, the suede headliner (very rich), and the leather dash and door trim. Don't want the air suspension and the rear controls are just a gimmick. So...the CL package is perfect.
  23. Don't know about the front end... Looks like the stupid rear door might be a hatch though!
  24. They're pretty different cars. Are you looking to buy new? I like the 06+ GS personally, I like the styling and I like the interior much better than the 07-09 ES although the 2010 is better. The GS is unique looking...the ES is not. The GS is much rarer to see on the road than the ES which is everywhere. Whether that appeals to you or not is up to you. The GS rides well when you get rid of the runflats...in fact the ride is very close to that of the ES. The runflats make it ride hard. Pros for the ES: Its larger inside Its smoother and quieter (the GS has a little different note to the exhaust thats "sportier") Its cheaper Its probably cheaper to insure Its better on gas Pros for the GS: Its RWD, or rear baised AWD (huge plus for anybody who really knows a lot about driving or knows how to drive well. The only thing I hate about my ES is that its FWD) Arguably better interior style and materials Better stereos both base and ML Sportier (if thats your thing) When I bought my ES new back in '03 I closely looked at the GS then and ultimately I preferred the style of the ES and thats what really did it. Today it wouldn't be as quick a decision for me...
  25. The LS rides much better....do yourself a favor and don't drive an LS lol. Like Jim said, check the tire pressure and keep it at the factory reccomended PSI on the door, I think its 32 because of the 17" wheels. That will help a lot. The ES rides really nice...I bet that pressure is way high.
