  1. Any upgrade is going to remove the override.
  2. Yep, paintless dent repair. Starting to see some 2010s around now...sharp! -Steve
  3. Is he using an OEM pump and belt? A member on the LS forum just had an aftermarket pump seize after 40k miles which caused $3k in engine damage. You get what you pay for sometimes.
  4. I think thats a very real possibility. They have to bring the price of the Phaeton down in order to entice buyers in the US, people just aren't going to spend $70k on a VW in the US...
  5. I have to agree with the others. You had one failure...and they are going to cover it. An intermittent problem with a power rear gate? Thats hardly a critical failure. The Lexus is a machine...a reliable machine...but a machine. Its not perfect.
  6. Mine has done that sporadically for years. Let us know how that works out...
  7. We'll see.
  8. Who did the TB/WP service? The dealer? Was it a new pump or remanufactured? OEM or aftermarket? I would demand help with this repair...
  9. Nice!
  10. If you wanted a car you could push...the LS isn't the right car. Its just a totally different kind of car than a Phaeton (which is a wonderful car). You'd have been happier with an Audi A8 or a BMW 7 probably.
  11. Its a joke buddy...lighten up. It is a pretty unflattering name LOL.
  12. I haven't seen one of those in a car in over a decade...
  13. Part of the reason for buying a beautiful car is for it to be...beautiful. I agree about function over form, but only to a certain extent. You're always going to have to defensively park if you want to keep your car looking nice, thats just the long and the short of it. I like the way the mouldings look on the car, at least the 07-09, but if you don't like them don't suffer through having them on just to protect against the possibility that one day you might have a door ding.
  14. And the Lexus forums bid you goodbye. Banned. Sheesh...and he says we're self righteous?
  15. Yeah you can't win LOL
  16. LMAO! Swine flu vaccinations wouldn't have been delayed under W? Oh please. He sent soldiers to war without body armor...got them into a war and killed for no reason. Hardly a friend to the military. Swine flu is not like the Bubonic plague...dispite what you hear on the news. I know several people who had it...with no vaccine...and are still alive. I remain pretty satisfied. It takes time to get out of the hole we were in but things have definitely improved. Jobs come back last, you know that. Health care reform has to happen.
  17. Yeah as long as you're careful! I've had maybe 5 dings removed in the 135k I've had the car, and I'm very careful and none of them would have been stopped by the molding...
  18. Hmmm... One of your posts lauded the Ice car wash. Has something changed? I like the Ice car wash, but wasn't a fan with the Ice wax products.
  19. Here's my opinion on things like that, its kinda like the black plastic bumper protectors you see. The car can maybe look like crap if someone bumps into it until you get it fixed...or it can always look like crap with ugly moldings. I don't think it looks like crap with the moldings, I like the moldings, I just dont see why you should live with something you kinda don't like to avoid the possibility of damage down the line. The moldings won't 100% protect you anyways, and most door dings involve little or no paint damage.
  20. I agree...never. This SZ car is about as close as its going to get. Toyota as a corporation doesn't like niche marketing...the AMG S class isn't a volume car, its an image car that trickles down the model line. That type of marketing scheme doesn't fit into Toyota's corporate M.O.
  21. Couldn't have said it better myself. Its just a forum, and the people you see on a forum are not representative of the buying population of a car in the slightest. As car forum people go...the people here are pretty open minded and down to earth. Check out MBWorld.org or the BMWCCA...or even ClubLexus and see if you think the people here are elitist and look down on others. The Lexus is a great car, and it is a luxury car, and one of the reasons people buy a luxury car is because of the brand cache. Nothing wrong with that. Its when people think that having a "Lexus" makes them a better person you have a problem...and I think if we have that problem here its very minimal. One thing I will say ijbad...watch the name calling. Your opinions are welcome here...but your insults are not.
  22. The moldings look great on the 07-09, but not quite right on the '10. I think its the chrome strip... Door dings are VERY easily and cheaply removed with PDR...if you don't like them they're really not necessary.
  23. I bet it will be special order only...
  24. I'm not insulted at all...why would I be?
  25. No...he posted his opinion...and it is what it is. If you disagree with it...then disagree with it. Don't suggest he take his opinion somewhere else, which is what you were doing. Don't insult us both by pretending its not. He only got slightly snippy when people started giving him a hard time about it. So...he shouldn't mention his transmission issues because this is a Lexus forum? How is making mention of real significant issues trollish? He's right...I mean...come on...we have Ray in another thread about to go jump off a building because someone said they liked a car better than his. Its kinda ridiculous. I've been moderating forums for a LONG time. This guy isn't a troll. He never said anything disrespectful, he never made a blanket statement about the car, he listed several points about the other vehicle he liked better in a manner that was appropriate given he original topic of the thread. All within the site's posting guidelines...all on topic. There's just no issue here.
