  1. I use the Amsoil HD (heavy duty) oil filter with the Amsoil 5W 30 (which is close in price to a K & N filter at CT or Mobil 1 filter at popular autp parts stores in the U.S.). Contact Amsoil directly & they will be able to direct you to the dealers in the Montreal area. B) It's the best stuff you can use (better than Mobil 1 & Castrol Syntec which I use to use as well!) ;) Here is an article comparing Amsoil to Mobil 1. http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/amsoil_vs_mobil1.aspx www.amsoil.com
  2. aq, I sent you a PM with the details of the 2 shops I deal with. I hope it is of help & good luck! B)
  3. Keep us posted.....I hope this issue get's resolved quickly & to your satisfaction. B)
  4. What brand of synthetic oil are you using? (IE: Amsoil says you can use their 5W 30 for a year or 25,000 miles, just change the oil filter after 6 months & top up). Synthetic oil last much longer than conventional oil for sure, but it won't last forever & the oil filter will need to be changed in that time as well.....I would at least do that.....but if you do, why not just change the oil while your at it. B)
  5. I think it was more of an accident rather than incompetence sw. Exdot never said this is the 5th time or something this has happened. You ever made a mistake or had an accident? :whistles: And like I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure if it was repainted (depending on seeing pics of the damage of course) if a body shop would be able to blend & match the rest of the cars paint properly & might even make the appearance look worse if he wants to ever sell the car. B)
  6. One might want to consider (or at least have a clser look at) these instead of the Michelin. It's the latest technology & check out the treadwear rating. ;) http://www.toyocanada.com/products/OpenCountryHTEN.html
  7. That's awesome sunman! :) Any chance of you posting pics of the rear vision camera & what can one expect to pay for something like that (roughly)? B)
  8. There will be no 2006 1/2 GS that I have heard of. However......in the near future (I've heard as soon as the 2007 model year.....others say 2008 at the earliest) there will be a GS 350 with the 3.5L V6 with (chances are) about 290 hp (has to be more than the current all new Avalon at 280). If I were buying a GS, I'd wait until the more powerful V6 is available. Just my 2 cents. B)
  9. I am beside Wonderland...but heck I will drive anywhere if I can save a few bucks.-gas. :D ← Both my mechanics are located in mid-scarborough (one my Dad's been dealing with for 38 years now & they do fantastic work). If your intrested in coming that distance (about 25 - 30 mins I'm guessing) let me know & I will PM you their names, addresses & phone numbers. ;)
  10. Take the pics with good natural day light if possible (do it over the weekend if you tonights not good). I'm sure they would offer something like this to avoid a large expense (and no guarantees that the colours will match should you take it to a body shop anyways). Perhaps lifetime free car washes or a years worth of professional detailing can be negotiated too. B) ← I agree on all points- he was hinting very hard about avoiding out of pocket expenses. A lifetime of washes is tough since I enjoy washing it by hand-the only reason I failed to do so this time- we had an issue with the water at the house! I'm leaning towards a full detail once a quarter- i know last time I paid about $169.00 for the interior and exterior during the winter. Yeah, the paint will never match. ← There ya go! I mentioned lifetime simply because I too usually wash my car by hand, but I go to the touchless Sunoco in the cold weather & of course winter months. I was thinking more the winter time for the salt & such since I'm guessing you see your fair share of snow being in CT. B) Keep us posted on what happens.....The owner of the car wash sounds like a fairly reasonable person which is good in this situation. B)

  12. It might just be easier to sell the car as a whole instead of incuring the hassle of shipping for a few parts here, a few parts there......a lot of trips to the post office & if the car is in that good of shape, wouldn't it be worth it to keep it on the road? Just sounds like the car has life still left in it. B)
  13. Why? The other driver wasn't at fault. Granted, he should have stayed around as a witness and more importantly to see if anyone was hurt, but 'I didn't like the guy behind me driving too close' isn't an excuse for speeding through a stop sign at 30 mph and driving off the road. ← I have to agree with jragosta on that one. You are suppose to have control of your vehicle at all times & if someone is harassing you that badly, let them pass. :whistles:
  14. Can you post some quality pics of the damage so we have a better idea of what it looks like? Would there be any chance with some professional buffing & factory touch up paint that it could aviod getting the entire door painted? B) What colour is the car?
  15. I agree, shop around & get second & third opinions. I noticed aq you are in the Toronto area......where abouts (east end, west end, downtown)? I have a couple of independent mechanics I deal with that charge much less for labour than any of the dealers (Lexus or Toyota) & they do fantastic work! :) Let me know & if your close, I might be able to hook you up! B)
  16. Couldn't agree more! B) So far, 17 friends & family members (including my wife) have installed The Falken 512's........people can't believe how much tire they got for the money & have yet to hear any complaints & they all have driven in the winter months to boot! B)
  17. I think you need a minimum of 20 posts to have full use of the features of this site. B) Why exactly are you selling every part off the car if it's in such good condition?
  18. That remains to be seen thus far as the Rx400h is in it's first year & too early to know if any cronic problems effect the vehicle yet. B)
  19. I assume the 97 - 01 ES models are the exact same (including part numbers) as te 97 - 01 Camry? Just more expensive at the Lexus dealer parts counter? ;)
  20. Perhaps a major tune up will help, make sure your tire pressure is correct, take out any additional weight in the vehicle (stuff in the cargo area that might add extra weight etc) & use premium fuel. B)
  21. I'm not sure what you mean when you say if it's not used, it's 100% refundable? You had better read the 'fine print' of the contract VERY carefully befor you go ahead. Please specify. B)
  22. I agree, don't let the fuel level go far below 1/4 tank before you fill up. B)
  23. I'd find either a 97 ES or perhaps a slightly older LS. B)
  24. I think there is a drain plug yes. B)
