  1. You can get turps at any hardware store like Home Depot & the like. Just be careful & use it on a very small spot to start with & wipe if all off afterwards as it's a paint thinner.
  2. Exactly! I drove everthing before I bought my ES including an Acura TL, Infiniti I30, Camry, Accord, Maxima, etc. Unfortunately nothing could compare to the ES in terms of overall quality, ride, and feel. The '97 TL has more HP, but the interior is barely a step above the Accord and certainly not on par w/ the ES. I also found it had bad torque steer when you jam on the pedal. None the less it is still a good car and I wish you luck. ← Agreed! I looked over the new TL at the Canadian International auto show this past February. I sat in it & checked it out.......saw the sticker prices & laughed! You want how much for this car? ummmmmmmmmmm NO!
  3. Indeed a very well detailed write up! Nice job. B)
  4. Hi everyone, Does anyone know where I might be able to find older Toyota brochures (preferably Canadian 2001 & 2002 Toyota brochures)? I have tried E-Bay with no luck If anybody can steer me in the right direction with a website, e-mail address & such I would greatly appreciate it. I am specifically looking for both a 2001 & 2002 Toyota Highlander sales brochure. Thanks everyone! B)
  5. You can try 'turps' or a paint thinner......but be VERY careful! Also, when posting, please do not use capital letters for your entire post......it is considered yelling at people. Thanks! B)
  6. Why didn't you consider an ES over the TL? Just wondering. B)
  7. If that's the case, I think it's perfectly normal & by the sounds of it in need of a serious oil change! B)
  8. Did the dealer give you an estamate on how much this would cost to fix?
  9. hiholex, What did you end up deciding as far as tires are concerned? B)
  10. I have asked why tire rack does not carry Toyo's (as well as Falken's) on more than one occasion in the past. Basicly, they say they feel there are more than enough choices with the brands currently carried by TR & no need to add any more brands (although nobody has ruled it out that they might carry other brands in the future). B) The Toyo M-410 was a very good all season SUV tire especially in bad weather conditions. This H/T is the replacement & improved in every category. With that long tread life for an SUV tire, it should do very well. B)
  11. Agreed. B)
  12. You need to break in the engine first before you can get 'real world' fuel economy (say after the first oil change). Go by the last 6 digits of the VIN.....not sure what Lexus sales targets are.......it was only launched a short time ago but they seem to be selling fairly well. B)
  13. Agreed! Good Luck with your Acura. B)
  14. Make sure you get maintenance records & take the car to your mechanic before you buy. Weleome to the club & good luck! B)
  15. when I say "cover me, I going in." you and Lexusfreak cause a distraction and I'll do it. steviej ← Deal! :D :whistles:
  16. Just thought I'd share that there is a brand new all season SUV tire from Toyo called the Open Country H/T that replaces the Open Country M-410 & has a 640 treadwear rating! B) Here is some more info: http://www.toyocanada.com/products/OpenCountryHTEN.html
  17. Get the dealer to agree to switch when making the deal & get it in writing. Failing that, keep your eyes open for a salvage GS in the near future & sell your old 10 spoke rims & you will make money! B) ← Thank you - I have only spoken to the salesperson about it over the phone and she said that it would cost $2400 and I'd then have to buy tires ... I figure for $51,000 they could switch the rims for MUCH less than that - I'll take your advice and negotiate the rims that I want because I really like the 5 spoke rims so much better. Thanks for the encouragement. ← The customer is King as long as you haven't signed the bill of sale yet.....hey, dosen't hurt to shop around & call another Lexus dealer or two. Keep the salvage idea in the back of your mind as well. Just make sure if you do get an agreement from the dealer that it's all in writing. Good Luck! B)
  18. Personally, I'm partial to a 4 door myself........more user friendly & cheaper on insurance to boot. Just my 2 cents. I'd go with another ES or perhaps an IS. B)
  19. Are those tires a summer or all season? How much per tire? Rims look pretty good btw! B)
  20. Here is a write up about rolling resistance, but your right TR does not have specifics on each tire. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tec...&currentpage=33
  21. Get the dealer to agree to switch when making the deal & get it in writing. Failing that, keep your eyes open for a salvage GS in the near future & sell your old 10 spoke rims & you will make money! B)
  22. Yup, those scratches are just big enough to bother the hell out of ya.......I hear ya & don't blame you either. I just hope they can match the paint colour corrently. B)
  23. Let's put it this way......I don't know of a vehicle with a better reliability record than the LS........if any vehicles are close.......it will be in the Toyota & Lexus stable however....Camry, Corolla, ES come to mind but the LS would be on the very top for sure! B)
  24. This is true for the most part. It depends on the vehicle.......most import brands are very close (within 1 - 2% with the exchange rate already factored in). B)
