  2. If I'm not mistaken (members please correct me if I'm wrong)....the factory stereo is made by Pioneer. B)
  3. Amsoil! :chairshot: :P :P ;) :whistles:
  4. It was a very good meet (my first personally) & I would have to say that everyone had a great time! :D I'm sure there will be some pics posted soon of the day (steviej took some as well so I'm sure he will post them when he arrives home from Toronto). The weather held up to boot & it was nice to finally meet fellow members face to face! :D Thanks for arranging the meet sk! & thanks to steviej for coming all the way from the Boston area & for all his help......had a blast the whole time & we hope you enjoyed your visit! B) ;)
  5. It should have more HP & torque than the new Avalon.....I'm guessing 290+ & 270+ respectively. B)
  6. Looks like intresting stuff.....keep us posted. I hoped they would have had some colour samples to view however. ;)
  7. I doubt anyone will want to give up their 00 - 01 tails for 98's Everyone wants to give up their 97-99's for them. ;)
  8. I don't think they will be cheap online. B) ← I just called Billy's Toyota/Lexus Car Parts, Inc, and they wanted $500 for the 4 piece set..jeeez!! ← Told ya! lol B) Check the buy & sell forums on this site & www.clublexus.com as well & keep searching the auto salvage yards.
  9. Never heard of a ceramic tint......who makes it & what's it all about? give us the website of the company. I know that 'metalized' is about the best one can use. B) ← Brand is Huber Optik. Can't find a web site for them. Ceramic for sure - blocks a lot of the heat and lesss light, they say. Looking for any experience with them and any interference in remote and radio antennas on the rear window. ← Never heard of the stuff personally, & I'd be a little apprehensive if there is no info on the net. I'd stick with the metalized & sratch resistant stuff from either 3M or Llumar. Just my 2 cents.
  10. What no Toyota's offered? lol j/k ;) Pacifica is not a bad choice, but it's not exactly frugal on gas. Volvo is intresting too. B)
  11. I don't think they will be cheap online. B)
  12. I appreciate the info.....Thanks! B)
  13. Looks like it might rain for our meet tomorrow! :cries: Any back up plan if it rains? I guess Krispy Kremes dining room? lol :whistles:
  14. The strut tower brace will help with the body roll & they are fairly inexpensive. Amsoil & Mobil 1 synthetic are the two most popular synthetics on this site & yes, with these synthetics, you can go far more than 5,000 miles on a single oil change. ;) I switched from Mobil 1 TO Amsoil myself. Here is some info: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx and... Mobil 1 vs. Amsoil: http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/amsoil_vs_mobil1.aspx
  15. Never got a date or lost one for not having a remote start personally, but if you say so :whistles: I'm married (did not have remote start to impress here either!) now so what do I know!? lol B) ← that was a joke... ← So were my comments.... ;)
  16. mburn, this from your webpage: My 01 ES was built in September of 2000. What specific 'modifications' did Toyota / Lexus make to their 3.0L V6 engine after the July 2001 time frame to help prevent the gelling problem? B)
  17. Well if your ES does have the engine sludge problem, ONLY a Lexus dealer can do the necessary work to repair (new engine) so save yourself extra trips & take it to your lexus dealer.....call ahead & speak to the service manager & ask him/her what is involved in finding out if your engine has the gelling. While your there, pick up some oil plug gaskets at the parts department before you change your oil.....especially expensive oil like Amsoil. ;)
  18. Don't forget the 4 wheel alignment. ;)
  19. Perhaps post some pics of the car might help. Just a suggestion. B) ← that and putting it in the for sale section. :whistles: ← I was going to suggest that as well, but I think one needs a minimum of 20 posts in order to do that. B)
  20. Agreed, an auto wrecker or salvage yard is a very good possibility. B)
  21. Gotcha, thanks mburn.....I had a feeling that was the case. B)
  22. Mine is also a 98 ES 300. I am the second owner and bought this car 2 weeks back. How will I know whether my car has a SLUDGE engine or not? Should I contact LEXUS? If it's a sludge engine, how can I go about replacing my engine? Is it free from LEXUS? ← Did you get ALL service records when you purchased the car? or dod you know where the previous owner had maintenance performed? Perhaps you can get the records that way. As far as I know, the engine is a free replacement up to the 8 year period as long as 'reasonable' (I think at least one oil change per year someone here mentioned) maintenance records as proof can be given. If it was maintained correctly, there is a very good chance you do not have the sludge problem. B)
  23. Agreed! I'd go with the 'Lexus' extended warranty & nothing else personally. I have the coverage on my 01 ES, knock on wood, I haven't needed it yet as the car has been flawless, but I have piece of mind until 120,000 miles or 2 years (car has only 58,000 miles currently). B)
  24. I concur with Craig! Post pics when you get a chance! Welcome to the club! B)
