Hi, I;ve got an 96 ES300 with 220km and I noticed a rumbling and since it wan;t my stomach, I put the car up on the hoist and found the noise and air leaking from the exhaust system. It came from a flex hose right after the two exhaust manifolds meet with a Y (right under the engine). I called $ Lexus $ javascript:emoticon('') javascript:emoticon('') and they said I have to buy the whole unit 1500 can $ and 600 for a aftermarket piece. The whole unit is basically all the pipes in the front end of the car I assume. Does anyone know how I can fix this without robbing my wife's account. Thanks

Thanks, I took the car in to a local trusted garage and they couldnot find any leak, but could smell the antifreeze, so they assume it is steaming out somewhere, I'm afraid to do a pressure test to find out that its from the head.... so I;ll flush the system and wait and watch... Thanks for all your help.... Who's the girl beside your car?

Details: She drove 20 minutes on the highway and noticed steam coming from under the hood, pulled over till it stopped steaming, opened the hood and put water in the reseviour, then tried to drive agian and the needle went up to Red and so she pulled over. A month ago, the car started to overheat on me, the needle creaped up to H, but not quite there, I cranked the heat to full and it brought it to normal.... as soon as the engine was cool I filled up the rad with coolant.... it was low... I got home and next day put in more coolant. Hope that helps.

ok.. I looked under the car and NOW its clear water coming from what seesm to be the A/C hose... seems normal.... however yesterday when I filled the empty system and took it for a spin on the highway, when I stopped, there was a steady thin stream coming out from this A/C hose (prob. water, but seemed excessive). So now I think the system seems ok... I;m thinking I should: a) replace the thermostat B) replace the oil / filter (overheating may lost vis.) c) keep topping coolant at rad cap, to release any air trapped d) replace my rad cap, when I take it out it seams to stick and there is a nick in the bottom rubber ring So my questions are a) Is changing the thermostat easy? Is it near the rad cap? B) Is my approach sound c) Any other thing you guys think I need to check.

Thanks for the advice, I think I need to clarify: There is no leak in the car. The hose is located under the car, behind the engine. It seems to look like a drain hose for coolant. I;m going to put the car up and take a better look... follow the hose and hopefully it leads toa loose bolt or wing nut. The coolant is coming out green.

Hello, Coming back from a week interior camping, call my wife and she tells me her Es300 overheated and lost all coolant. Thats all I needed. I refilled and watched for the leak and it seems to be leaking from a drainage hose behind the engine (under the passager dashboard area). Does anyone know where this hose is coming from? Is it the rear block coolant drian plug? Thanks in advance.
