  1. Dosen't Toyota (TRD) also offer a K & N type of re-usable air filter? B) ;) You can check it out at www.trdusa.com :whistles: Not sure of the prices however. ;) ← The price is: $54.21 !!! For that amount I can buy enough OEM filters to travel about 50K + miles. :D ← The TRD oil filter (and the K & N for that matter) don't need to be re-oiled under 'normal' driving conditions for 50k miles as it is........ :whistles:
  2. What year is your LS VMF? I have the current NGK parts catalogue (with cross reference numbers to the most popular replacements.....including Denso). ;) Let me know.
  3. After the first repair (engine replacement?) did you use dino or synthetic oil? & how often changed? (time & mileage). B)

  5. Steviej, Would there be any significant benefit (pros & cons?) when the time comes when I need brakes & rotors to go with TRD rotors & pads for the 97 - 01 Camry? or just stick with OEM Lexus brakes? Which would be better or are they pretty much the exact same & what about the cost?
  6. Not to my knowledge........but make sure all service records are accounted for regardless. Sounds like a lot of highway miles.......which is nothing for that engine. B)
  7. I don't think they can get any worse......I'll put it that way lol :whistles:
  8. You pretty much answered your own question Pizza. B) It's not an SUV tire.
  9. I personally love the new GS & would like to see one in my driveway at some point. Having said that, I'm personally not a fan of buying a car in it's first year of production as some 'kinks' usually need to be worked out of a new model. Have a look at local dealers & private listings to get an idea of what your RX is worth or try www.kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book). ← LexusFreak, I would agree with you on most cars not to buy the first year, like a chevy, no way Jose, but not with a Lexus. They do from what I hear 100000000000 miles on all there new models before they are released to the public. Plus its a Lexus, that in its self should be enuff :) I bought the new GS430 and I love it. Only problem is when you buy a new model you will more then likey pay sticker for the first several months. ← I agree for the most part GS.......& yes your right, she's a Lexus :D One other factor foe me is to wait until it's the GS 350 with AWD....but that's just me, as I have no need for a V8, but love the AWD concept. ;)
  10. Thanks for the info, i am using 5-30wt oil mobil one(syn) and i change every 3000 miles. i bought the car with 54000 miles on it. i would say it is probably using half a quart between changes. Thanks you, Jerry ← If you check your owners manual it will most likely say that is a normal amount of oil consumption (even though it's synthetic). I don't think it's serious. Is your gas mileage pretty good? I might suggest to try Amsoil ASL 5W 30 synthetic oil, along with the Amsoil HD oil filter for an oil change or 2 ( just as an experement kind of thing......you will have no problems getting 6,000 miles between changes) & see if there is any difference in your oil consumption.......my guess is you will not need to 'top up' anywhere near a half qt. Here is some more info: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx Here is a comparo between Mobil 1 & Amsoil. ;) http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/amsoil_vs_mobil1.aspx
  11. Can't beat that price Geo......but I agree with steviej, I'm a bit suprised they didn't do the tranny drain & fill.
  12. Agreed sk & steviej! B) I noticed about a 1 - 2% increase in fuel economy but hardly anything to write home about. Never had a problem with any of my K & N filters I had for my last 3 vehicles & I'd buy one again. ;)
  13. I agree it's seems a bit odd......however, let's not forget that the GS is a completely different car in either RWD or AWD & there are 2 engine choices, not just one engine. B) They will eventually put the 3.5L V6 in the GS........probably with 300 hp (yes the same hp as the 430), BUT The V8 will grow to the upcoming 4.6L (that will see duty in the next gen LS as well) & probably have at least 320 - 330 hp. This is one reason why I personally do not buy a car in it's first year of production......as the model get's a couple years under it's belt, they usually increase HP & Torque as they tweak things, or engine size........many times both. The ES will have the same 3.5L V6 yes.....but I'm willing to bet it will be closer to the 290 hp range (they will keep it slightly under the GS 350 when it comes out & slightly above the Avalon). :D
  14. Well done steviej! B)
  15. Condition, condition, condition B) Mileage on a car is not as important as how the vehicle was maintained & driven so get service & maintenance records before you buy (including vital items such as oil changes, timing belt & water pump replacement) . Take the car to your mechanic for a thorough inspection (usually takes about an hour or so & is money very well spent). It the owner refuses to let a mechanic look the car over, RUN! don't walk away from the deal & find yourself another ES. Keep us posted & good luck! B)
  16. Is there anything you can do? YES! Don't go 100 MPH for the first 1,000 - 1,500 miles lol Be gentle ;) Consider using synthetic oil when the time comes (after the break in period). Can we see pics? :D It's a georgous ride.......ENJOY! B)
  17. These tires are really NOISY I think the ALENZA HL are the best bet! they have a nice aggressive profile too ← No experence with these tires personally. B)
  18. I personally love the new GS & would like to see one in my driveway at some point. 19. I respectfully disagree, but to each their own. :whistles: Lexus has received pretty big praise of late for there new styling direction & I quite like what the direction they are headed. The majority of people agree. B)
  20. Agreed, all the more reason to keep your existing size. B)
  21. I'm leaning towards blake & it might be a good swap. In addition to what he said, before doing anything, get the owner to agree you can take the car to your mechanic so he/she can go over the car with a 'fine tooth comb' & especially to check that the problems with your current LS aren't on the one your considering. With the money you can get for yours, I think it's a pretty good deal even though the timing belt will need to be replaced. Let us know what you decide & good luck! B)
  22. Ouch :( yeah, your in a bit of a pickle I'd say. I'd save your money on the 'engine block sealer' stuff.......a so called repair in a bottle or whatever........put it towards your repair. Did your mechanic say to stop driving the car altogether? or can you get by for a couple weeks?
  23. I propose we go to the Outback afterwards! :D B) sk, how many people have been confirmed so far? Only a handful?
  24. Another choice would be the Pirelli Scorpion Zero. Not sure the price however. B)
  25. I agree with SRK. What is the service & maintenance history on your GS rider? How much oil are you burning (let's say between oil changes) & what kind of oil are you currently using? B)
