  1. on mine, I had to remove the black top engine cover to see the label, so they are not always in plain sight.
  2. go to a lexus dealer and let them run the vin number
  3. I have read your other post also... and this just came to me?? how long since you changed your fuel filter? plus you might want to check your fuel pump pressure... you could be running LEAN on fuel keeping your combustion from being full power (reading misfire) and that is being picked up by your cats... just a thought....
  4. I did not know that, my error, so sorry, you looked like a veteran... In my cars I use Costal super heavy duty dot 3 http://www.sturdybuiltonline.com/Coastal-Super-Heavy-Duty-Brake-Fluid_p_683.html
  5. as an Advanced Club Member, with 391 post, I would think you would be giving guidance to others as to what to use... so buy it from Lexus
  6. this might help: Throttle_body_components1.pdf
  7. Drive by the dealer and ask him, that should be free
  8. Many of these cars have been parted out, check on craigslist and local salvage yards.
  9. look over here and you can tell" http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/EFI/throttlebody.html
  10. I tried to post this above, no luck, so here it is. Landar this is your photo.. cant you turn the flywheel and tighten the bolts from here?
  11. Landar you are probably right, I didnt think of that, I thought there was access to the FW/TC area from below.... never looked at that.. sorry. I noticed this photo, would that not let you have access to the bolts?? for some reason I cant put a photo in here, will do so below..
  12. Yes, I was referring to the knock, and was only remembering how loosened bolts would make a knocking sound like that. no sound under pressure (in gear) but knocking at idle, and along with a noticeable 'chatter' when you press on the gas taking off. all you would need to do was to tighten the bolts, not replace anything. That has happened 4 or 5 times over the last 30 years that I owned my shop, so I just mentioned it, as something to check..
  13. if it were mine, first thing I would check is the torque convertor to flywheel bolts. that is how they would act.
  14. Hi Brian, welcome to the club... it looks like no one knows the answer to your question.... me included, however I can tell you this. I tried to put 98-99-2000 seats in a 95-96-97 ls and they bolted up perfectly... BUT... the wiring in the plugs was different. the plugs would connect, but the wiring would have to be changed, and I gave it up.. that being the case, I would think .. underline think.. the seats would mount, (bolt up properly) but the wiring will not match... if you find out, let us all know...
  15. this is true, here is my 97 with 99 wheels on it and my 96 with 2001 430 wheels on it.
  16. they fit ok on my old 97, look at my link: cars I have owned.
  17. you might even try to snug the bolts up, if its not leaking too bad, just dont over power them and crush the gaskets. it worked on mine for over a year, until I was ready to get to it..
  18. it doesnt sound like the starter is THE problem, just involved, if it just died suddenly, while driving, and you didnt smell gas fumes, you probably have an electrical problem... have you had any experience with your trunk hinge wiring?? read Common Issues And A Ls400 Buying Guide at the top of this forum
  19. sorry, my link didnt work. I tried to send a link to download the service manual, (98-2000) but it failed. send me your regular email and I will try to email it to you.
  20. and that link has been on here for 7 years................................ why dont you learn to search??? it is amazing how much information is on here..
  21. you need to read about all the problems the 90-94 models have had so you wont be surprised, but $1000 is not too much..
  22. you are correct. bank 1 is left,, bank 2 is right. pre 02 is front,, post 02 is rear.
  23. see my new post on Club Lexus, hope it works for you.
  24. first rule in auto ID...... set in the drivers seat, and from that position, determine LEFT & RIGHT. now what sensor are you going to replace??? Hint-- (same one he did) there will be a pop quiz tomorrow...... just having a little fun.... when you get under the car, you will see 2 cat/conv's with 4 O2's , the 2 closest to the radiator are what we call PRE, meaning in front of (before). the 2 closest to the trunk are what we call post, meaning after good luck on yours, and welcome to the club
  25. where in Texas are you?
