Actually the airbag will need 90 seconds no power before removal WHO KNOWS.................. not being smart, just cant imagine.... no need to say "be careful" too far, I am in Dallas area, called Carrollton. thought I might come and watch....   3. Turn your steering wheel half around and you will see two screws, remove them and one under the housing and snap them off. But if you could not find them, I would be careful on your further progress.... Have you searched? or are you just looking for help?

  7. good job Jim, that is about as clear as I have ever seen it. and yes use the VIN when ordering parts. In other words "dude", they started with a great product, and just kept making it better, year by year. or should I say mile after mile.

  9. on mine, I removed the connector and took the bolt out, and I was able to slide the ocv out of the chamber, cleaned both and put it back in and no more problem... that was a year ago. during that time I wanted to do the passenger side and it required removal of all the items that are in the way... A lot more work. but worthwhile.

I just bought a Black 99 LS with 228k on it, now has 230, and will get new VC gaskets, engine mounts and a tranny cushion this week.... other than that it is a solid LS. original owner was a doctor who ran between Dallas and San Antonio for 168k, 2nd was 60k and then me, 2nd put 430 wheels on it, and that was what attracted me to it. The CEL and brake warning light was on, and it ran too cool. I replaced a faulty Tstat and ECT switch to turn the CEL out. and repaired RR warning pad to turn the light out (it wasn;t pluged in). I also have a white 99 with 167k and it runs like new also. here is the black one:

That glove box thing made me think... on my old 96, after driving a while, my blower speed would slow down to nearly nothing. and stopping and coming back after a while it would work for a while before doing the same thing, turned out it was my cabin air filter was clogged.... may not be your problem, but it would not hurt to check it.
  17. my 99 froze up and I replaced it and then took the old motor apart and found out it is magnetic driven... no brushes...

  19. sounds like you have a ground wire problem.... and they are hard to find. you might install some universal grounds yo help....
  20. based on execlex's post it looks like these filter screens are in the heads, if any one finds out please post.. luckily my cleanup was all I needed.
  21. I used a spray carburetor cleaner in abundance, until they were clean and washed the chambers out with it too. I have some mechanical fingers with a flexible shaft I used to pinch small pieces of cloth to clean them. I douched them with cleaner and rubbed them until clean, then changed the oil to be on the safe side. That was two years ago, no trouble since. had about 140k then, now about 170k. AT first, I bought new ones (see photos) and saw how they worked and then cleaned mine until they worked as good as the new ones did, then returned the new ones.
  22. Yes, been there and done that. Remove the two oil control valves on the front of each head and clean them and the chambers they go in, and your troubles will Probably all be over, on "some" hard cases they have to be replaced. the following photo/files should help./ ocv.pdf
