  1. that ebay one looks good to me.... 300 vs 2500.. enough said. if you "rebuild" yours you will be without it for a while..
  2. jaswood, that really dosent sound like you..... you ok? plus he has already said he is keeping the LS
  3. in my 30 years of owning my shop, we have had a half a dozen cracked flywheel (never on a lexus) flexplates, but many loose converter to flexplates bolts, and you can get to them from under the car. and they will make a clunking sound when drive pressure is released while stopped, not trying to convince anyone, just trying to help find a mysterious sound.
  4. you dont have a problem, just a situation, let your wife drive her Accord, you drive the Lexus in the summer and the Subaru in the winter, and forget the truck......
  5. price it where you want to... someone may be looking for just that model with the low mileage,, and to the rest: "There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase often credited to P. T. Barnum (1810–1891), an American showman. It is generally taken to mean that there will always be many gullible people in the world.
  6. Hi, someone just gave me an Tran/PS filter. Has anyone ever used one of these? do they do a good job? need to know before considering application.
  7. also did you address the rear main leak?? if so did you retighten the bolts that attach the flexplate to the crankshaft, that also bolts up to the converter??
  8. I have never used any sync, but I dont think it matters to your engine what kind you use in todays engines... in the old (59 and back) engines it did make a difference between petroleum and pennsylvania paraffin base oils as far as burning oil, and leaks. but those days are gone (thanks)... so fear not, just keep it clean so it can help keep heat away from friction parts..
  9. disregard previous post, misunderstood, there is a small circuit board in the key head. I do not know what it is completely, but part of it could be your problem. I have changed them out when getting a new key made. if everything is working but that one button on that one key, well you either need Lexus or a new key with the transponder in it... keep us posted if you choose to conquer this.
  10. Do it this way: OR you are wasting your money!! the new bushings I bought have the tabs colored for you.. AND dont tighten the bolt with the wheel hanging in the air, or when you lower the car on it, the flexibility will be used up and your first big bump will tear the rubber.... . sa-34 STRUT BAR CUSHION.pdf
  11. bad news, I am afraid you will have to go into the door to see what broke, there are some small clips in there that hold the rods.
  12. This is for a 2000 LS, but maybe it will help bo-13.pdf bo-14.pdf
  13. take a photo of what you have and we can see what you are missing, or try an online salvage yard
  14. I have went thru the same thing in my 99, and like LS says, the only option is a used unit... but if you look hard enough you will find the missing piece and can put is back together..... WE DID..
  15. you should not have to tell the mechanic how to think or what to do, just tell him to fix it. If he cant, you have the wrong mechanic. When I had my shop, I had 5 mechanics working for me... I would tell them the trunk would not latch... they would fix it and tell me what they did to repair it..(if it needed parts, I ordered them) that is how it should be done. so just relax, he is probably better than you think...
  16. I assume you would have already sprayed a lubricant into it...... true or false?
  17. first you have to look and see what position the lock is in. use your common sense here. see in the photo below, the top photo is the lock position...... the bottom photo is open..... NOTE: pay attention. in the open position, you can push a round screwdriver shaft into the lock and it will snap closed and then it will look like the top photo. IF-IF yours is not operating like this.... it needs replacing, I dont think you would be able to repair it. I assume you would have already sprayed a lubricant into it......
  18. there are some low price starters on ebay
  19. he just put a new battery in it, it is now time for new solenoid contacts
  20. just do like the man said... search: Precedure/pictures to fix steering column gear.
  21. I thought this was neat, and wondered if it would work.. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/2858310072.html
