  1. The fluid you want to use is Toyota Type IV ATF.
  2. call them... and ask questions, they sell racks.. You may reach us at 1(800)880-3098 for immediate assistance
  3. I'ma old fuddy-duddy, but I have always used conventional oil, I'm 79+ now, and have never had engine damage from an oil problem... in the late '40's I changed every 2000 miles, went to 3000 after high school (52) and continued until I got my first Lexus (1994) and went to 5000.. I have had 12 LS400's ... your good with either, unless you are racing or exceeding 5000 miles.. Now, that and a dime... wont buy anything, but it used to get me in the show and buy popcorn...
  4. just do whatever you think best, I have never had this problem, just passed along what I read..
  5. just looking at the new bushing, I assume there is a metal bushing in the center that the bolt fits in, is there also a metal bushing on the outside where it fits into the housing?? if not, it should not have to be pressed in.. (just my opinion)
  6. never been there, but know what I would do, carry the parts to a Lexus repair shop (not necessarily the dealer) and ask for help/information on putting it in... and share that with us.. (oh, super photos)
  7. I have not done that, but I think I could look at the new one, and the old one and reach a conclusion on the matter. what seems to be the hang up? anybody out there ever do this?? all I have seen is:
  8. ok Ima, I read you can just order it without and you can just put your EVO on it.. they dont wear out, so just unscrew it (like an oil filter), and screw it on the new one.. it is only for high speed turning dampening.. you will do fine..
  9. I would think you could pick up a drive shaft from a salvage yard pretty cheap and try it to see if the sound changes.... or goes away.
  10. Have you tried doing a search? what have you found out? is the switch and the control module all one part or two separate items?
  11. do the lexus dealer list BOTH, or just one type?? what ever they show, go with it for best results... they built a pretty good car... right?
  12. Billy: My profile is wrong. I guess I did not update correctly. I sold my '99 and bought a 04 LS430. Sorry I led you to believe it is on a '99. However it is a nagging problem. Any help would be appreciated. You are communicating with a brother ><>. JimDSC_5489.JPG (hope the pic came thru) Wow, you shot me down with that one, pm landar, he has a 430 and should be able to give you some guidance.. sorry..
  13. I dont completely follow you, take a photo of it, "completely to the front of the car.". and I will rack my brain to see if we can help.. I have 2 99's, but I cant "see" that..
  14. I have not had that problem, but this may help you..
  15. Yep, I had to do the same thing to one of my 99's .....
  16. yes, it is very complicated, seek professional help, and then tell us what HE did.
  17. just do a search, it has been covered many many times
  18. very nice write up, mine has 231k now and I had my nephew Jon replace the VC gaskets, seals, & grommets, and was surprised how clean everything was.... no build up at all. we also cleaned the OCV's and made sure they had good snap action. no more oil leaks...
  19. well that P0125 CEL came back on and I had Davenport Lexus check it for me and they said the o2 heater wiring was faulty, and too slow to go into closed loop. I replaced the o2 and the light is off again... been a week now... the original problem for the 02 was the leaking VC gaskets oil soaked the plug for the 02..... you might want to watch this area. I dont know why the autozone just showed po125, DL was able to go a step further and solve the real problem.
  20. All things considered, probably yes, but you are looking at a timing belt/water pump issue unless it has been replaced.. are you a DIY kind of guy?? you are in no danger of ruining the engine since it is a non interference. welcome to the club and good luck on your LS... photos would be nice..
  21. Hay, move to Texas, my 17's dont leak and the living is cheaper here
  22. I have never owned or driven a 430 or 460, and I have had 12 LS's total so far. 5. 99's, they are my favorite. 1. 97, 2. 96's, 2. 95's, 1. 94, and 1. 92. the 90-94 seemed to have too many weaknesses (that needed fixing), the 95-97 I believe were the strongest and toughest ever built..... but the 98-2000 drive, ride, handling, and just the feel you experienced going down the road plus the most appealing looks of any auto.... wow, I love them... they are so quite and solid... even getting out and closing the door is an experiencing event, no other door closes like it... Well to each his own, but that is "my" opinion... keep up the good comments, and photos.
  23. I got it at Sewell for 11$ also, but I get a discount there.
  24. I just bought a new fuel tank cap seal #77316 16010 for mine:
  25. I run Michelin Primacy MXV4 225 55 17 on my 99 LS with 430 wheels, and on my wifes 99 LS I have yokohama avid touring 225 60 16 and both are very quite..
