  1. no, Paul, no switch, I just checked.... thanks.. Randall, several batterys... but all of them have been CR1616 a 2032 is too large and thick to fit.. PLEASE RECHECK YOUR NUMBER. the case has 1616 also extra key not fob.... but I will pull the guts out and see about cleaning, because it happened when she went into church and then when she came out, would not unlock.... I will check tomorrow
  2. on one of my 99 LS's, my fob key will lock all the doors when you press LOCK, but when you press unlock, nothing unlocks.. no sound, nothing and even the trunk release (on fob) quit working. once again, push lock button and car locks (as it should) but nothing else works (of course I can unlock with the key) but no other action, no unlock and no trunk release (with button) have I made that clear, my FOB will lock my car but will do nothing else.. do any of you have any experience with this problem??? the key starts the car, and the alarm works, I had to unlock with key to stop it. ANY HELP???
  3. for 3500, keep the car and erase the dealer prices from your mind, just keep the list and have the TB/WP replaced and fix the P/S leak... 1500 sounds high for both to me, and you are good for 100k miles.. do you have any mechanical skills at all? brakes, tires & alignment is next and you are good to go. even if you get used tires, about 100 dollars here and they will last a couple of years while you save... VC gaskets are not a big deal or big money.... just think it over
  4. I was born in Dallas, but now live a little NW in Carrollton, lived here all my life except when the Army sent me to Korea in the 50's. I had kinfolks in Georgetown in the 1880's thru the early 1900's.. bunch of German folks...

  6. it just ruined your alternator while you were making this post... there, do you feel any better, or worse? both of these items were made by man, so they dont come with a time table, but since others have warned you, you know what to do... I guess you have figured out by now I am retired and really just dont have anything to do so I am answering your post which is about as important as my answer... anyway, you are knowledgeable about it all and I hope you get it fixed without and further damage.. cheers, and good luck smiles.. ps: how does any liquid cause failure to electrical items? you got it..
  7. go here and follow instructions http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/repairmanual.html
  8. yes, sorry about that search quote, I think it was you that was looking earlier.. I have never had a visor problem so I will just get out of your way... I thought I saw some 90-92 manuals for sale, you might want to pm him to see if the info is listed... anyway good luck...
  9. due to my advanced age, my speed limit is about 80 when it is very clear..... so I just pull mine down to 2nd and run it up to 5000 or so for a little bit.... but to answer his question NO that is not common, at 15mph, a full floor board results in a takeoff like it is going to fly..
  10. good post Bob, I'm with you, bad paint really turns me off....
  11. do a search, someone just went thru this a short time ago
  12. search for the write up, since yours is not broken... and look at it and see what needs to be done to open it.... experiment and then do a easy to find write up with good photos.... for others..
  13. if this is a gutted out car, why go to all the trouble of repairing the wiring?? I guess I missed something..
  14. you can buy a factory rebuilt from the dealer, but you really dont know WHO rebuilt it.....
  15. simple, just call your dealer....... but you want wont to know... just go with a rebuilt. even the dealers sell them.
  16. number 2 and number 4, skip #1-3 & 5 I think their are some manuals for sale on here not identical but close enough http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/82159-repair-manuals-for-sale/

  22. Not me, I have had 12 LS400's, and the only thing I change is I put chrome wheels on them... I think the engineers built a great car. I just wanted you to know you are not being ignored... I'm surprised landar has not commented... you might try Club Lexus, they are eat up with modders......
  23. this should help, item # 15100r on scan... seems like you could just get under it and see where it goes..
  24. price check http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/cto/4618657149.html Since I am over 80 and have bought many autos, I think 8000 is a good price IF the timing belt/water pump and normal upkeep has been done... but knowing that whatever price you tell him, he is going to comeback and want more, so I would start at 7000. and let them win a little to get to 8000.... have the dealer show you the printout of the work that has been done.. I have two 99LS400's now, and have owned a total of 12 LS's ..... see below. they are great cars..
  25. when I replaced a broken 3 button key for my 1999 LS400, I had to buy a key like this.. and replace the inside works from the broken key into the new key and that included the CHIP that contacts the START immobilizer. then the car started.
