  2. try this: http://www.toyodiy.com/login?from=/parts/g_U_199704_LEXUS_LS400_UCF20L-AEPGKA_2.html 209 is a yoke 210 is main shaft 260 is intermediate shaft nothing is called a lower shaft or upper shaft, go pin him down
  3. I repeat, do a search on the trunk hinge wiring, and see what all kinds of problems it caused... there were many.
  4. well guys, I am not to swift at comprehending, but wait until you are over 80, and then we'll see... I just know wisdom is not always packaged the way we think it is...
  5. Randall gave you some very good advice, but you explained away all of it...... I guess I just dont understand what you are after, I'm sure most of us feel sorry you are having these problems, but if you write off our guru annalist, there is not much we can say, but good luck....
  6. FIRST: read the stickey's at the top of the posting, there is a wealth of good information in them.... and , welcome to the club, when you find out more, then come back and update and we will try to help you. cheers..
  7. Hey billy I'm actually basing my decision off of all your posts relating to starter repair. My friend just confirmed what you have been saying. If it does crap out later on the repair and down time will be much quicker and easier. Thanks. mine was replaced 4 years ago today, 7/31/2010, and is still working...
  8. quote " When I got the starter out he tested it and it was not spinning so he took it and cleaned up the brushes and greased it and it worked" .un-quote we have repaired 2 of my 99LS's by just replacing the solenoid kit, and my helper (my nephew) said he has not had to replace any LS starters, just the solenoid contacts...
  9. YES yes YES... go to lexls.com there is a lot of information there for you. just take time to learn about the LS400's.. ps, I think you are not answering Landar's question... opening the door, or UNLOCKING the door.. think about it.. listen to him, he has forgot more then most of us even knew.. http://www.lexls.com/ LexLS.com: The Ultimate in LS400 DIY
  10. the above is the normal difference of opinions you will find.... here is mine, just keep it clean.. good luck ..
  11. do a search on the trunk hinge wiring, and see what all kinds of problems it caused... there were many. I never had a 90-92, I started in 93-94, and missed all that. check out lexls.com also, there is a world of info there. good luck.... if it set for 12 years without starting or driving, change oil, flush radiator, transmission fluid, differential oil, pack wheel bearings and inspect power steering for leaking on your alternator, it will kill it. for sure.... and by the way, welcome to the club. where do you live?
  12. this link might help: (but get out of this forum before you use it) copy & paste only http://www.toyodiy.com/ http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/g_U_199704_LEXUS_LS400_UCF20L-AEPGKA.html or this: lexls.com
  13. Thought that light was more serious ... not likely.. roll your windows down, drive it and stop, if you hear metal scraping, then yes the light is more serious,,,, if not, fix the leak, it could ruin your engine... been there, done that.. have owned 12 LS400's..
  14. while they are in there, replace the water pump, crankshaft seal and the 2 camshaft seals, plus the idler bearings and refill it with toyota red coolant..... or you will be sorry. later on..
  15. your light and oil problem are unrelated. the light is your brake symbol, your oil leak is probably your crankshaft oil seal is blown..how long since your timing belt was changed??? http://www.aa1car.com/library/warning_lights_lexus.jpg
  16. I agree with Randall, you have a blend door that is not working properly. the AC unit could not cause this problem. I have never heard of doing this, but close the vents that are not cooling and see what happens... (good luck)
  17. CONDENSER FAN ON–VEHICLE INSPECTION 1. INSPECT CONDENSER FAN OPERATION Check the fan operation at each temperature and refrigerant pressure, as shown in the chart below. Engine coolant and refrigerant condition A/C switch Magnetic clutch Fan motor speed 83 °C (181 °F) or below OFF or ON OFF OFF 90 °C (194 °F) or above OFF or ON OFF or ON High 83 °C (181 °F) or below and the refrigerant pressure is approx. 1,520 kPa (15.5 kg/cm2, 220 psi) or above ON ON Low If operation is not as specified, proceed next inspection. 2. 18. my first 99 had those codes, and I pulled the oil control valve out of the driver side head and cleaned it, making sure it had plenty of "snap" to it, and also cleaned the port it goes in, put it back and no more light. mine never ran/idled bad, just the light.. it was wrote up, do a search on the trouble codes and you can see it(photos) here it is... I used carb cleaner.. this is the driver side, the other is on the front of the head also, just have to remove more stuff...
