  2. Yes, learn how to do a search for your needs, and you can help others like you were just helped...
  3. I downloaded the manual. I see no info about plugs wire nor distributor cap? I am missing something or is the manual incomplete? the reason is 98 and up have no plug wiring, distributor cap and rotors... this may help
  4. Well. Jon just replaced my VC gaskets, and I was surprised not to see ANY sludge, with 230k miles on the engine. did not remove the oil or tranny tubes, it all went smooth, and was needed...
  5. this should help: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/ignition/sparkplugs.html 1993 Lexus LS 400 4.0 liter DOHC V-8
  6. I am assuming it worked before/in the past, before you replaced the battery... I cant answer your question, but here is the instructions: (I copied this for you) Remote Programming (Tami's procedure in JohnMD's post): 1. Close and lock all doors. Unlock and open driver's door. 2. Put original key into ignition and remove TWO TIMES. (The driver's door is open during this step) 3. Close and open the driver's door TWO TIMES. (Close, open, close and open....the door is open at the end of this step) 4. Put original key into the ignition and remove. 5. Close and open the drivers door two times. (Close, open, close and open....the driver's door is open at the end of this step) 6. Put NEW key into the ignition. Close the driver's door. 7. Turn ignition ON then OFF ONE TIME- this will put the car in ADD mode for your remote. (Turning the ignition ON then OFF TWO TIMES will ADD the remote but will erase all existing remotes.) (I turn the new key ON and then OFF only ONCE as I want to add the new remote and the key. This step is confusing and is probably the source of my issue) 8. Remove the key from the ignition. The door locks will cycle one time (or two if you are erasing) . On the REMOTE press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCK button for 2 seconds. On the REMOTE press the LOCK button for one second. AT THIS POINT, the locks should cycle by themselves ONE time. This means the procedure was accepted. IF the locks cycle twice it has failed. IF this happens you must start over. Hold the remotes higher up for better reception 9. Open and close the drivers door. Put new key in ignition and pull out. This will end programming. hope this helps, but it is free either way.
  7. ABS/TRAC code 51 - I beleive this just means that the engine reported a malfunction or set the check engine light to on. The Trac ECU disables the Traction control while there is a engine malfunction. If there is no code in the engine system there may be a short in ecu, trac ecu, or the harness.
  8. That North Korean better hide from me, I was over there in the 50's and kicked their butt, and feel like I could do it again
  9. yep, I caught that mileage on your avatar.. pretty neat.
  10. SUCCESS! no more codes. I got the ETC sensor at O'Reilly for 15$ +tax, Autozone was 45$. Jon put it in for me, and it is finished, Oh, and it turned over 230000k on my way home...
  11. I have replaced the faulty stat, and got this code twice in a row.. Insufficient Coolant Temperature For Closed Loop Fuel Control... I have a new ETC sensor for it... will up-date...
  12. when I got my last 99, the speaker rattled even when not on. I popped the cover off and the cone was not even attached, just rolling around, I glued it back on and it sounds fine now...
  13. I dont recall a 94 manual, the ebay Cd's are worthless, you can do a search on here and clublexus.com , and fix nearly anything you might need help with. my first 94 had a busted timing belt on it with 236k miles, but a nice car, even without any maintenance. good luck, remember to search...
  14. these motors are a magnet type, so dont grease um up much, might try a spray lube (NOT wd40) on the spiral worm gear.
  15. it told me I had a bad thermostat, and I did (see photos) the rubber was pushed out and not letting the car warm up.... I replaced it and still have P0125 CEL. I am going to try ECT sensor next. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS?????
  16. Great offer, and I am not sure what Guinness is, but if it is anything like Bailey's Irish Cream..... oh my mouth is watering.. but at 79, I have slowed down. now the photo is current and they say I dont look 79, but all my joints know the truth... I would have to send my nephew, he does all my work now... but good luck on yours..
  17. I have used ebay's partsavenue for hood lifts for 6 different LS400, and I am waiting for my newest set to come in today or tomorrow, depending on fedex,,,,,, none of the ones I have replaced have ever had a problem and I love the 26.98 price for a pair. but I never keep a car for a long time, I just like change... and, here is my latest: I installed my struts the 21st.
  18. for me it would be a salvage yard.
  19. I just found this: Basic removal steps, as shown in the links of your other thread, are: 1) remove airbag (two torx screws and cable connector to front side of spiral cable assembly) , 2) remove steering wheel (17mm socket wrench then steering wheel puller), 3) unscrew spiral cable assembly with Phillips screw driver then disconnect the cable connector to the column. Done. But, before you go through the trouble of removing it, bring a meter or other device to check continuity with you, to verify all leads have continuity from the front to back connector pins. hope it helps..
  20. NO.... I hope... you know at 79 I must not be playing with a full deck..... but this sure is FUN!!! this is me...
  21. Well I am going to sell my 2000 Sienna.(sold). I just have to have a 99 LS again. This time I have bought a Black one with a Tan interior, it has 228k on it, but I got it for 4800$. The owner cant afford to replace the timing belt & WP, but me and my nephew can do that. here it is:
  22. I think you answered your question, "Since both keys stopped at the same time", check this http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-generation/507395-will-car-start-if-key-fob-battery-dies.html
  23. Actually the airbag will need 90 seconds no power before removal WHO KNOWS.................. not being smart, just cant imagine.... no need to say "be careful" too far, I am in Dallas area, called Carrollton. thought I might come and watch.... CHECK THIS: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/633142-removing-steering-wheel.html
