You should also replace the two cam seals and the idler pulleys, you can get a kit (aisin) from ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-LS400-90-97-OEM-COMPLETE-14-piece-FACTORY-OEM-TIMING-KIT-PUMP-BELT-/230935451788?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1990%7CMake%3ALexus%7CModel%3ALS400&hash=item35c4d3588c&vxp=mtr

HA !! I dont have the guts to drive that fast any more... but 60 years ago... if it would do it I did it... this little 39 ford pickup was chevy powered and would run... and the 55 Olds 88 burried the speedo needle(past 120) on the way home, right off the showroom floor. (original photo in 55)

Battery is less than a year old, chg system runs at 12.7, & 12.8 with running lights and standard equip on. no leaks on floor.... PS fluid added to tank, less than 3/4 inch, and over 2 years since any had been added. I think this was a cold weather thing.

Randy you just turned a light on....... good work..

P1120 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction From other threads I've read I'm strarting to get the feeling this happens in cold weather. It happened to me when it was about 20 degrees outside. (from another thread) Cut it off and restarted it and it cleared up. (from another thread) fixed by shutting the car off and restarting (from another thread) book reads: P1120 Toyota Description Accelerator pedal position sensor is mounted on the throttle body and it has the 2 sensors to detects the accelerator position and a malfunction of the accelerator position. The accelerator pedal position sensor is connected with the accelerator pedal by the accelerator wire and the voltage applied to the terminals VPA and VPA2 of the Engine Control Moduel (ECM) changes between 0 V and 5 V in proportion to the opening angle of the accelerator pedal. The ECM judges the current opening angle of the accelerator pedal from these signals input from terminals VPA and VPA2 and the ECM controls the throttle motor based on these signals. If the the P1120 code is stored, the ECM shuts down the power for the throttle motor and the magnetic clutch, and the throttle valve is fully closed by the return spring. However, the opening angle of the throttle valve can be controlled by the accelerator pedal through the throttle cable LOOKING FOR ANSWERS (from another thread) MORE: There are several threads here that report about problems with a lack of acceleration when the weather is very cold. I then found that when I heat the throttle body (on the side where the accelerator cable is attached to the accelerator pedal position sensor) with a hair dryer before starting the car, the problem does not occur. However, there are two sensors on the throttle body: a throttle position sensor ($140 on Amazon) and an accelerator pedal position sensor ($299, only available at Toyota or Lexus). Can I be sure that this is due to a defective accelerator pedal position sensor (PPS)? any comments as to what I should do? my wife drives this one.... THANKS, BP

Yesterday Jon, my nephew replaced my SR Bushings on my LS, it had 236k on it, and they had been replaced before (with the whole rod) he noticed that my right rack and pinion bellows was torn and I will get one this week... left side was still ok.... with all the miles on this one we are going to have a good look at the rear bushings, trying to keep it quite... has anyone used anything besides the poly bushings on the rear of their LS? even with all those miles, the old boy still looks good::

I am surprised you have run 6 years and 80k miles without replacing the battery... I have two 99 LS400's one has 182 and the other 236. and I am in love with them also... we just had a two day 500 mile funeral trip and got 23.3 read out on the entire trip, with air on at all times and running 80mph on the freeway.. I think it is amazing how quiet and comfortable these cars are... you dont even hear the engine running.. we buy them two at a time and have had 12 so far..but dont expect to own any more, I turn 80 this year, and my wife is not far behind me, and I think mine will last us.... I have never been in a 430 but I dont see/think it could be "better" than the 400's. thank you Toyota for your Lexus' autos....
