  1. NOPE! and I still have it. Been meaning to take it to my mechanic, but it means I have to leave the car overnight at his shop so he can do a cold startup. Will post on here what he says when I do it!
  2. Hey guys/gals, So I have 2 main questions/issues for my 1999 LS 400. 1. Every time I start the car cold (in the AM or after 8hrs at work) there is a vibration that I feel in the steering wheel/seat/anywhere on the car. The vibrations come and go like a wave and it starts off very strong and dissipates to almost nothing in about 2 minutes. I noticed this after I replaced my engine mounts with OEM mounts. Any ideas what's causing the vibrations? 2. My stock fog lamps have pathetic output. I want to increase output mainly for dark roads with tight turns so I can see the sides of the road and stuff. I have done research and there are 3 ideas out there. a) take off the tin sleeve on the stock 9006 bulbs to give more output, b) modify to fit 9005 bulbs or c) put HIDs in. I don't normally run fogs, only when I REALLY need them so don't worry about brightness factor and blinding motorists. Thanks for the help! :D
  3. Hey Guys, For my 1999 Lexus LS 400, I am thinking of getting an adapter for people to charge their phones/tables via a USB to Cigarette Adapter much like this: http://www.amazon.com/iFlash-Lighter-Charger-Adapter-Output/dp/B008LM45I2/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1391905938&sr=1-5&keywords=usb+car+cigarette+lighter+adapter This would not go in the cigarette lighter spot underneath the Nav screen but instead in the center "glove box" between the two front seats. 1)The problem is, the port is really low to the bottom of the box and I was wondering if any of you have been able to fit any of these adapters into that port given the limited bottom clearance. 2) When the car is turned off, does this port turn off as well or will it drain the battery if something is plugged in. I have heard horror stories about certain adapters short circuiting fuses, etc in the car so I came to you guys for help. 3) Also, any recommendations for a USB 1A/2A adapter? I don't want the ones that branch of into many things. I want to keep as much space in there as possible. Thanks guys!
  4. Hey All, I bought my first Lexus (1999 LS 400, black with tan leather, 153k miles from original owner). My lead foot appreciates the V8, my wallet sometimes doesn't. A few things I have noticed or have questions on. Your help will be appreciated and please pardon my ignorance. 1. The rev counter sometimes does not work, but when I smack the dash above the instruments its starts working no problem. Is this due to loose wires or something else? 2. The car has dual climate control, the driver side blows hot when on MAX heat, but the passengers side front/back blows room temp or slightly warm. I have replaced cabin air filter but I have a feeling that an actuator may not be working properly. 3. When the steering wheel retracts after I pull out the key, it vibrates and makes a noise. Are the gears going out on it? 4. Is there any way to put a roof rack on it, besides drilling into the roof and permanently mounting the feet? My other option is a Thule trunk rack (Raceway). Anyone have any experience with either of these? 5. What are the best tires for this car, Michelin, Bridgestone, etc? 6. Where can I buy misc. used parts, like shift knob, black interior carpets, etc. for my Lexus? Is there a for sale section on the forums, because ebay, etc are kinda pricey, specially for just a shift knob. Thanks guys, I will upload pics of car soon!
  5. Hey Guys, First time poster here. I finished university, started working, now I need a car. I'm 6'4" so I need something comfy and roomy as well. I like the Lexus SC for the looks, reliability and it looks fun to drive (correct me if I'm wrong). I like BMWs but I want something reliable as well so....Lexus it is :D! I have the choice between the SC300 and the SC400. I know it has the V6/V8 and the 300 has the manual. 1) What are you thoughts on which one to get? (or which one to avoid, etc.) 2) How reliable are they going forward after a 100k+ miles (all the ones I can find are around there) 3) What things should I look for when buying? 4) What things can I look forward to replacing in future? 5) How much is the maintenance per year? 6) Also, besides Autotrader/Craigslist, where is good place to look for these cars? All other thoughts/advice on these cars are greatly appreciated.
  6. Welcome to the Lexus forums BIGBOI3 :)
