  1. well those whining noises are your bearings in the timing belt pulleys and water pump. it means that their life is coming to the end and its time to change. and this whistling sound, you hear it when you drive? or when the air blower is on?

i dont really know what is the best place to check it. you can remove the passanger seat yourself. remove the amp. open it and check for the physical damage like burned capacitors or transistors. if it looks intact you have to do more careful testing. but since you dont have tools you can just ask some1 who has same system to swap amps to check if its good or not. you can use only OEM amp. since none of the aftermarket apms have those kinds of plugs and specifications for your head unit and speaker systems.
  3. it means that camshafts and crankshafts are not gonna turn in a proper time and all the valves and pistons will be FUBAR and engine body will be useless as well
  4. gen I or generation I (one) is LS400 years 90-94 gen II (two) is LS400 years 95-97 gen III (three) is LS400 years 98-00
  5. go to strauss, they have a book in the bulbs section for all the bulbs in the car.
  6. gen I is going to die if the timing belt brakes. gen II and III will not.
  7. okey.... www.alldatadiy.com is the way........
  8. i have both LS 400 96 and 91 Legend with manual tranny. both cars are great and the price to maintain is the same for both of them. timing belt change might be a lilttle more expensive then 400$. OEM 2 bearing, belt and a water pump are gonna cost u about 400-600$ plus 400$ for labor. check my pix in the gallery and here is my legend P.S. SWO thanks for recommendation:)
  9. 97 one has a Nakamichi system and the sub i think is 10 inch. Guys most cars dont come with any kind of sub in the factory system. so even old pioneer system might sound better then some cheap aftermarket "upgrades". if you change ur factory sub to smth else it might not work properly with the factory amp. you need to verify the power and resistance for the sub unit before installing it. otherwise you can screw the amp and they are pretty expensive.
  10. there was a thread about it. guys found out that there is one wire in the trunk that was broken. i dont own firt gen LS so i didnt pay attention to this thread. but if you will look you will prolly find it. i remember the wire was too short and broke. by fixin the wire the fixed the problem
  11. most bulbs in the tail light have 2 filaments. so ask some1 to press the brake pedal and check the bulbs again.
  12. too much drinkin will kill me one day. i meant to say get OEM not aftermarket:)
  13. get the original parsts, not oem
  14. yes it is, get reason for some major $$ spending
  15. takes even less usually, in my case with my scanners, it gets the codes and resets the ECU automatically. i dont know may be its just my scanner
  16. ooops i mean V rated, not T rated, my mistake:)
  17. i'm not sure what you are trying to say but it might be one of your bearings.
  18. i had H rated tired before, it was like riding on the baloons as some1 in the forum said b4, switched to T and its much better, no noise increase and car handles much better!!!!! btw i got cheap cooper tires and they work great. you dont have to spend that much $$ just for name even for lexus:)
  19. brentq how much did u pay for denso set? did it include 3 plastic parts as well? they supposed to be preset and prenumberer so u just plug em in:) i paid 97$ for mine
  20. nothign on ebay www.alldatadiy.com very very good stuff for 25$ a year
  21. what happend to me is the wire touched the rim and as the result it got damaged. so i just fixed the wire and the light was gone...... check ur wires.
  22. dont get bosh!!! get denso!!! same price on ebay for bosh and for denso on newlexusparts.com but bosh sux!!!!they brake easily!!!
  23. i had this problem, got a really strong vibration on 80 mph which was gone after 80. wheel ba;ancing fixed the problem. try to rew the engine in park position and see if its moving a lot or you can feel the vibraion. then put it into drive and press accelerator while pressing the brakes and check again if your engine moves a lot. if it is it might be ur mounts. it might be wrong timing as well btw......
  24. my dealer told me that my 90k service would cost me 1400$, so i bought parts myself (660$) and did everything myself. my mechanic told me that he would charge 375$ for labor with my parts.
  25. this check tail light signal is also responsible for you brake lights as well. if you have a bulb different then specified by lexus it might give you this signal. or if they are all ok it might that the contact in one of the bulbs is bad.
