  1. For those who has problems with heater elements in seats. i have diagreams for 98-00 Ls as well '95 - '97 LS 400 Repair Procedure 1. Turn the seat cover inside out. 2. Remove the seat heater.
  2. www.newlexusparts.com or you chan look through all the lexus dealers selling parts online at www.parts.com
  3. i got 1200 miles. the noise is still there...... let me know how its gonna work for u. i also noticed that if its really humid outside (e.g. after the rain) when the car was standing outside for a period of time. brakes make some kind of strange noise when i apply them for the first tme. i dont know if its normal. if its gonna continue like this i will just switch to professional brembo equipment.
  4. so how do i get rid of this noise if i have it for couple of month already?
  5. dont buy it!! you can get it for free!!! just go to www.lexus.com and register there. there is an option where you can request your manual for free.
  6. i have the OEM brakes and pads. i got this after 2 weeks of the change. i came to complain and mechanic just suurfaced the rotor again. but it didnt resolve the problem and he gave up. even the brake quiet spray didnt help. what i think is they missed a little spring or whatever it called it looks smth liek this /\ and it supposed to go after the pad. i forgot what its called. and i think its vital to elimintate this noise.
  7. i dont think so. i have the same problem and i changed my brakes 3 months ago....... i still have this annoying sound every time i brake. i dont know what to do myself.
  8. DO NOT REMOVE THE connector!! you can kill your ECU!!! never! under any circumstances do this. Denny you too! not on lexus!!! as to the dealer checkups.... i dont really trust them. they dont do s..t! or even if they did sometimes they want you to come back and give em more $$. anyway this is really simple to test and you dont have to pay 100$ hour labor fee for them. the volt meter costs like 20$. so just get it test it and keep it. very useful thing
  9. i might try it when i will have time:) as to the delaer auction. there should be dealer lots around you. you come and talk to them and for some fee (varies from 100-300$) they will take you to the auction. each dealer can bring up to 2 people as drivers with him to the auction. all you have to show is your driver license. plus dealers have prints of cars that gonna be on the auction 3 days b4 the auction. so you will know if there is a reason for you to go. once u got in look around and choose the car you want. then you tell ur dealer to bid on the car up to the price you want. prices there are 2-4k cheaper the on the dealer lots. this way i got my 96 LS400 2 years ago for 13k. that year i got loaded accord couple '99 for 12 k, 99 TL for 14k and 91 legend for 4.5k mileage on all the cars was 80k for ls, 100k for legend 36k for accord and 40k for tl. putting to your attention that it happend almost 2 years ago those were some sweet deals.
  10. LOL its a very provocatice smile. i dont really get it why the admin team left it here. fits more the site like www.dancesafe.org
  11. as i told above to check charging just connect the volt meter to the battery while engine is running. it will give u exact answer if its bad or not. its not about the alternator yet
  12. nah, not possible. if the chargin has gone bad then while the engine is running it will take power from the battery as well. thats the way the circuit has been built. so if you shut down the engine and restart immedialty it will not start coz the battery is drained. but if you let it recuperate for a while it will start the engine right away. what he got is the opposite. thats why i'm saying its the shortage. i had the charging problem in my car. took me a while to find out what was going on. i used to do electrical jobs on cars couple of years ago. saw all kinds of problems with this issue
  13. but he said after driving car starts right away. the problem shows up only when the car is not in use for long periods of time. i had a problem with charging system. my battery indicator went on while i was driving and all the lights were dimmed. the charging problem is easy to test. just connect volt meter to the battery connectors while engine is idling. it should show around 14V. if its much less (around 12) it means there is no charge and then the chargin system has gone bad. try to rev the engine and c if its going to increase the voltage. if not then trouble shoot ur alternator and charging system
  14. heh guys i got 30% tint everywhere and i regret it now. i should've went for 5%. it cost me 180$ here. and the tickets here are for each window and each is 50$. cops here can be bitchy in some areas. but usually they let it go. if you really *BLEEP* them off they will go for full program for you.
  15. it could be a shortage somewhere. might even be in the battery itself. your charging system is fine since the engine starts right up after you drive the car. let me tell you this. when you will not drive your car for 2 days disconnect the battery connectors. connect them right before you start the car. this will tell you if the problem is in the battery or in the car.
  16. no lexus brand in japan, actually Ls400 is called toyota celcior over there and engines have the toyota sign. but its ez to change the sign coz the sign is on external part. not on the engine itself
  17. happend to my friend on sc400. his timing belt broke but engine didnt die!!!
  18. you will soon have to do your timing belt wich includes couple of other things to change. check what kind of sound system you got there. pioneer or nakamichi? do youhave the special compartment to host the Cd changer? it is located right above the glove box compartment. as to if you are too young for the car i dont think so. i'm 25 and i'm enjoying my 96 ls for 2 years already and happy with it. car is very responsive and quite and..... i just love it!:)
  19. dont get the car from the dealer. just go to the dealer auction or try ebay. as to the soft i want to upgrade my 4 year old slackware installation soon. (didnt even get new kernel for couple of years )
  20. i think engine in the 90-90 models is exaclty the same except some minor modifications. even in 95-97 models the engine is almost the same. you might have an engine from some european toyota model since 1uzfe was used on a wide variety of toyota cars. there should be a number on the engine itself. it should be located on the top front of the engine on the left of the right timing belt cover.
  21. and you prolly can help us with linux:) which one is ur fav? :D
  22. obergc where is the connector located? please tell me. mig25 can you tell me how to do the flush on my own? i was thinking of doing it but didnt know how. your help would be greatly appreciated.
  23. nice:) i paid for the original parts only around 450$. but i i did all the work myself. saved some $$.
  24. nah thats not the problem in this case. i have morning sickness on my legend. when its really cold outisde. i mean the water is freezing and stuff the rack is frozen as well. cant urn steering wheel at all or it turns but really hard
  25. in my experince the dealer after gettin 100$ from me told me exaclty what i told him:) plus he told me i need to change my spark cables and plugs..... i changed them like 1 week b4 i went to the dealer and it was hard not to notice the new wires.... he prolly didnt even open the hood:( ok class is over goin home:)
