  1. HID is not legal in US as an aftermarket upgrade. i would recommend MTEC bulbs, they are cheap and reliable/ if properly installed will not give any problems and will not burn out in 3 month
  2. as far as ur AC blows hot air i dont think this is such a big of an issue. might be that one chip in the climate control cirquit is partially burned thus not providing normal output from the sensors to the chip that is responsible on turning the AC on or off in the auto mode. the most im portnat thing is that AC works. you should not worry bout those lil things on a 13 year old car. if it really bothers you, you might get a new climate control unit on ebay or on a junk yard.
  3. check front calipers and tighten everything, you might have to change shims since it might be a pad sliding inside the caliper.
  4. there is a procedure on testin the o2 sensor. pm me with ur email and i will send u pix. also can u tell me more about ur modified exaust? can you make pix of the system? i was thinking about this myself and i'm really curious about this project
  5. if you want to know more about tune up of LS or any other lex you should visit lextreme forum.
  6. from what i know and what repair manual says is that you have to use toyota atf only. you can use other brands of atf for pps and brakes but tranny is toyota only.
  7. it might be the damaged tape player in the head unit, they just follow the link from the post above if you like it and get it fixed. but its def head unit, not the amp or speakers.prolly the playing head in the tape player is dying or some other prob which you cant fix yourself.
  8. how is it an amplifier if your radio works just fine on all speakers? its ur head unit and a it just might be a dirty tape head. use a cleaning tape and it might help if not then problem is in the head cirquitry, but def not the amp. amp is located in the trunk i think somewhere on the right side but i'm not sure.
  9. there is a cirquit that controls the alternator and it might be malfuncioning as well and not giving enuff juice for the electronics. try this, when the car is parked rev the engine at 2500-3000 rpm for like a minute and check if lights will go off. if they will it means you just dont have enuff power from alternator.
  10. you can sell and buy salvage title car on ebay:) i bought 99 v6 accord coupe with flood damage on ebay for my bro recently for half price:)
  11. tell the shop check the V and A on the alternator when engine is idling, i still think its electrical prob. AC has nothing to do with it, AC shows AC related error codes on the climate control screen
  12. thats where all the instruments are (eg tach, temp, fuel etc.....) ;) :D
  13. i think it is normail for 1uzfe to get a pretty high idle till it reaches it operating temperature. i always wait till warms up completely or just remote start the car few mins b4 i'm gettin out. make a lil experiment and let it warm up while ur in the car watchin the temp gauge. will it fall to 600 when need will reach the middle?
  14. batery light means that the car is running on the battery power, not on alternator, and this basically means that ur alternator is dying and its time to change it. there is a slight chanse that itmight be a cirquit malfunction but 90% its the alternator. since you have a gen I ls check your power steering pump that is located right aboe the alternator if its leaking on the alternator or not. the rest of the lights are there coz ECU and all ECMs just dont get enuff juice to funcion properly. i bet you are gettin a pretty bad gas mileage. you can get a rebuilt alternator in almost any shop that does this kind of thing and it will run you around 250-300 with labor to fix it. while ure at it you might as well get a reman power steering pump which will cost u 100$ at autozone and around 50-70$ for labor and power steering flush.
  15. i did mine at 122 when one of the bearings started to fail and was spittin oil and was whining at idle
  16. depends what part of exaust you are planning to take off. it has to be carefully designed and professionally done otherwise you will loose power during the drive and engine will die at idle and your check engine light will come up. remember there are 4 o2 sensors and 3 cats there!
  17. do you have a heater in the seat? if you do press the but and check if the light comes up, if it does it means that ur power seat ECM is at least partially alive. you can get one from junk much cheaper and change it yourself. www.taprecycling.com for all ur used parts needs.
  18. they are available asnd if you want to change the whole exause system not just rear mufflers it will cost ya around 2k with labor
  19. yeah, my bro just bought salvaged flooded 99 coupe and there is nothing wrong with it and he paid half price. but in ur case you really should consult your lawyer nad talk to the delaership, they might work with you for some kind of deal.
  20. www.taprecycling.com for used parts www.newlexusparts.com for new parts
  21. FYI, no aftermarket "brake fluid" or "steering fluid" should be used or you risking to destroy lots of parts. ATF fluid ONLY!
  22. i would recomend you to sing up for alldatadiy.com its 25$ a year and they have explosion diagrams/ www.newlexusparts.com has good prices.
  23. OEM filter is around 30$ and you can get it at toyota or lexus dealer. it has to be changed every 30k miles. part number is 23300-50060
  24. gen I ls is not obd compliant thus there is no obd connector. there is a special procedure when you have to short some pins to put ur ecu into the testing mode and then count how many times your check engine light would flash. it will give u series of long and short flashes which will bethe error code. i'm sure one of our gen I gurus will give you more info on this matter
  25. i dont think that 2001 lexus will require any major investments in repair any time soon. LS model is famous by going strong for couple of k miles without any major repairs.
