  1. i have the same problem in my 94 ls400 the wheel does not come down...how do i fix this exactly? You could try Google or follow the video tutorial below or http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4237 As other members have said you can simply fit a suitable replacement washer (try Home Depot) under the gear to get the same results.
  2. Hi, You could try swopping a known good bulb from the other side brake light and see if it still blows in that position, try another make of bulb (defective batch perhaps?) also check the battery voltage when the engine is running to make sure the alternator isn't giving out too much voltage. In the UK we cannot afford the gas to burn cars at around $8.00 a gallon!!!lol
  3. Hi, Unless you can find a used one the whole assembly is $154.99 from Lexus Part # 55450-50060 A0 ( AO is Ivory color) You are correct in that the 2 screws release the coin tray.
  4. Hi, With both the remote and switch not working it would suggest a common cause would be the lock assembly inside the trunk lid. The motorized release is part of the complete lock assembly and I am not sure if the motor can be replaced as a separate item if faulty. I would remove the trim on the trunk lid and have a good look at the motor/lock assembly to see if it moves freely or not, check the wiring to it and although the loom fault affected mainly models to 1994 check the wiring loom running around the trunk lid hinge.
  5. My LS400 failed its UK yearly safety test on exactly the same joints last week as there was excessive play in them and I bought genuine Lexus/Toyota replacements and fitted them myself. You could actually see the excessive vertical movement (2-3mm) in both when removed and the ball was pulled up and down in the socket. The tram lining effect and the floaty feel at speed have both been eliminated after replacement and the car feels more precise when driving. For the sake of around $150.00 for the parts replace them, complete failure could result in the front suspension failing and the wheel folding under the car and the obvious outcome of this.
  6. A Lexus dealer put Dextron in the transmission!! If your transmission was fine before the fluid change and now isn't I think you have answered your own question. Use ONLY Toyota Type IV fluid and find another Lexus dealer. If you are planning to DIY there is an excellent tutorial on Lexls.
  7. That warning light did it's job then, had it not alerted you as it did you may not have noticed the fluid loss and been involved in a possible accident.
  8. Could you get your 2 LS400s to breed and send their offspring over to me please
  9. I had a similar problem recently with the TRAC light on constantly after driving for a few minutes and the fault was due to the nitrogen cylinder being depleted, had it recharged and been OK since,it could affect the ABS because the same nitrogen cylinder I think operates the brake pulsing but it may not show an ABS code up or indicate a fault as it is not directly connected to the ABS system.
  10. The mirror is an LCD electronic type and it sounds like the display has failed the only cure is replacement, have a look on eBay.com for LS400s being parted.
  11. Hi and welcome to the LOC. 771K is that miles or Kms because I think that may be a record for an LS V8! Recheck all the vacuum pipes you removed to clean the TB there are loads of them and if one is off or leaking it may be the cause, did you remember to reconnect the MAF although normally this would throw a code and illuminate the EML.Make sure you didn't get any cleaning fluid in the TPS when you cleaned the TB.
  12. Hi, ABS faults normally but not always throw a fault code, even if there is no warning lamp on the dash maybe you could ask the dealer to read the codes while they have the car. There could have been some spillage on the road perhaps diesel which although not visible could have made the surface slippery hence the ABS operated.
  13. It could be loss of vacuum to the brake servo/booster have a good look at the pipes and check the non return valve, the engine didn't cut out during braking when the fault happened did it as this could result in the same problem as the vacuum reserve in the brake servo/booster is used up. To check correct operation of the brake servo/booster keep pressing the brake pedal with the engine off until the pedal becomes hard, keeping your foot on the pedal start the engine you should then feel the pedal move down slightly.
  14. Hi and welcome to the LOC, As far as I know Levinson systems were a standard fit in the LS430 Have a look at the link below for the full specifications http://www.toyoland.com/lexus/ls430.html
  15. Hi, Get the fuel pressure test done 1st, if you have a spark it is unlikely to be the ignition/ignitor module as this generates the spark pulse to the coils,as another member suggests remove the air filter and while someone cranks the engine spray some ether/easy start type product into the filter casing,if the engine runs albeit roughly this would indicate a fueling problem. There are several other reasons why an engine won't run but try the above 1st and then go from there.
  16. Using caps is the equivalent of shouting at someone, new members are welcomed in general but an attitude will get you very little help,I could very easily provide a link to a website which would show you where the problem is and how to fix it but your complete lack of respect to other members has persuaded me not to. My only advice is to go into your nearest Lexus dealer, then shout and demand they fix your car immediately and pay them $2500 for doing the job.
  17. This is a known problem and is due to excess lubricating oil on the needle spindles drying out over time and mixing with dust making it more viscous. The suggested remedy is to strip out the pod remove the plastic front and gently remove the excess oil with a cotton bud (UK) Q-Tip (US) The speedo is electrically driven there is no cable drive involved Follow the link below and look at post # 59 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/225935-how-to-fix-your-speedo-needle-when-it-does-not-work-4.html
  18. Hi, I am assuming the 430 is similar to the 400 and if so you need to remove the trim panel inside the trunk (held by plastic clip)s to get access to the lamp holder, push your hand inside and feel for the lamp holder, once located twist it and it will separate from the lens, fit the LED replacement (try it before putting it back as they only work fitted one way) then put it back together.
  19. Hi and welcome to the LOC. The compressor should cycle on and off when the AC is in use and not be permanently running, although you think the AC is working this would indicate a problem probably due to a low refrigerant level. Before doing anything else have this checked by a competent AC engineer, the clutches on the compressor do fail but they normally rattle as it breaks down. I think you can also perform a diagnostics check on the AC system by having the OBDII codes read.
  20. I did hear some of the aftermarket ones are no good, when you do the job make sure the drive cog is OK (no damaged teeth) and there are no bits of the old mast still inside the mechanism.
  21. The only common cause appears to be breaker 31 rated at 30A which is the one I assume you have replaced,it can be reset by pushing a non metallic probe into the small hole on the top of the breaker,As previously suggested if it keeps tripping have a good look under the passenger seat for wiring damage.
  22. You can even watch the repair video now!
  23. Hi, First did you follow the tutorial below? http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html Also the antenna auto adjusts its length dependent on the frequency of the transmission so may not extend fully.
  24. You are correct, dealer only and will need reprogramming from the master key. Sorry
