  1. You first! :)
  2. If you are going to get it done take it to a Toyota dealership. They can do it much cheaper or look around and ask around for a good independent shop. I wouldn't think the timing belt would need changing yet they are just saying due to age not milage.
  3. Cool Paul. There's a lot of good info on there.
  4. Welcome to LOC!
  5. Dang...NC. I enjoyed the VW commercial! :) Just kidding...glad you are happy with the car! That's cool about your little boy...my 3 yr old little boy always gets in my GX...says daddy go vroom....vroom. (not zoom...zoom) :) Take care bud...glad everything is going well.
  6. Had a tranny go up in my mustang when I was younger and I got a replacement from a salvage yard! I also would check there too. As far as your other concern about fixing your rx? Personally I would have serious doubts about dumping 4k or more in to it and would see what you could do on a replacement car. You could almost pay your off for what it will cost you to fix. Also if you do that amount of traveling I wouldnt dump the money into a rx that has 165k on the clock already. I am sure you will have the feeling "I have fixed everything nothing else can go wrong" but something will. If your rx was paid for then maybe I would fix it but you need to sit down and figure how much this car is costing you add everything up...I bet you would be surprised. I just think you are throwing good money away IMHO.
  7. Army- good stuff. Glad you and the wifey had a safe trip. Thanks for sharing the photos! SW... I have a client that has some business with that called me and wanted to buy a RV 75k to rent to people. The insurance was not only almost impossible to find but was crazy expensive. But who could blame them...I wouldn't insure that risk myself. But there actually was some type of association that has a good price on it or I should say better price.
  8. Well I know the early version awd rx300'had tranny problems. I have a girl that works for me that has a 03 around 112k on it awd and no tranny problems on hers. Might want to research some of the threads here about the tranny problems on the early rx's and I think I would hold off if it was a 01-02 awd myself. If I were you I would keep my eye out for a awd 330...I think you could get one for a few $k more.
  9. I can't imagine pulling the valve cover is a 3.5 hr job? But I'm not an expert... The Dip stick can be easily replaced...so I say that isn't a great indicator but it wouldn't hurt to check it...
  10. Well That was my idea! Maybe someone else will hep out...
  11. Welcome to LOC!
  12. did anyone answer? It did not appear so!
  13. Welcome to LOC! Have you tried taking a screwdriver and moving the latch back and forth to see if the spring is hung up?
  14. Try eBay, or Sewell Lexus they have great prices.
  15. Welcome to LOC!
  16. :) I love it. The only thing that I have found that helps a little bit is to make sure the heat isn't blowing full blast...and to try not to yell at it (that is easier said than done) sometime I just use the voice controls to get a laugh! :) The one I have perfected is the temp. It actually understands numbers well. It kills me though as accurate as programs are today with voice reconigtion I really think they used someone who couldn't speak English or programed a foreign language to *BLEEP* people off!
  17. DC I am pulling for the Packers too BUD!
  18. It isn't a problem...or it shouldn't be. Call whatever insurance company tell them you are not able to fix your car for what they have given you. They will ask for an estimate or where the car is and proceed to open a supplemental claim.
  19. Welcome to LOC! Well BUD...as my father always told me...it was working before you started !Removed! around with it! You said you have checked all of the fuses? Have you checked all of your connections? Good Luck...someone will pop in and help you out!
  20. If you take the car to get repaired and the repairs will cost more than the adjuster allowed then they should open a supplemental claim and pay additional the additional cost. The adjuster usually will as you say low ball their estimate because they can only pay you for damage that they can see. Obviously if they find additional damages when they start the repairs they have to cover them. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a used part but for insurance purposes meaning this claim let a shop take care of it all they can deal with the insurance company for you.
  21. Well put. Did you say "call home" ?
  22. Anna Chapman
