  1. Used Car Blue Book® Values 2004 Lexus LX 470 Sport Utility 4D Blue Book® Sugg. Retail Value $32,065.00 Blue Book® Private Party Value $27,065.00 EPA City 12 EPA Hwy 16 Without knowing any options I would say I think the price is a little on the high side based on kbb.com. Welcome to the club!
  2. Then I would keep it finish school...then when you are finished with school get a new ride. No sense in strapping your self with payments when you are in school. Now if the car just becomes more trouble than it is worth then that is different. Good luck...don't worry someone I am sure will jump in here soon and offer some different advice.
  3. That is up to you and only you. :) We don't have enough info to give that type of advice? Is it paid for, are you in school, are you working, how much cash do you have for repairs or new car, looking for a new or used car??? My rule of thumb would be if it is paid for and having no issues and you don't WANT a new car keep the one you have. You may end up buying another one with more problems than the one you have?

  5. Well some advice I can give you is in most circumstances a car is not an investment. Now if you have done most of the matinance and the car is not giving you any problems then drive the wheels offmof it and get your money back out of the car. If you are constantly dumping money in it for repairs get rod of it. Best of luck to you and welcome to the club!
  6. I would also try anything in the engine first seafoam or such and do a couple back to back oil change to see if that works. What have you got to loose...how much would a couple of cans of seafoam and the oil and filters cost? If not as others have said find a used engine at a salvage yard or bail out before putting another dime in it. I also don't think you would have a leg to stand on as far as a legal case against the shop. I wouldn't waste the money and I would just fix the car or get rid of it.
  7. One other tip make sure the car inside of the car is warm not cold. Not sure what the temps are around you but here its in the 20's so I would make sure that the plastic is not cold or it is going to be even more brittle. You may want to use a hairdryer to warm up the plastic to help it from breaking.
  8. It sucks but there is no way that regular services have been performed on that engine. I don't see why you are blaming Lexus or Toyota for a engine which has not been serviced. There are way to many of these cars on the road with no reports of these types of problems. You can't even prove if the oil was changed in the first 30k miles of the cars life. Then one of the services went 11k when services should have been done every 5k but either way you have a huge mess.
  9. Glorified avalon? Enjoy your M.B.
  10. New POI's and updated maps...that's about it to my knowledge.

  15. I would think it is a pop off. Did you try?
  16. I have no idea what is used I would talk to an seat repair shop. They should be able to tell you.
  17. The MANUAL, you mean I was supposed to read that intaker? :) Actually I did read my manual and you are probably right. Still seems like you should be able to lock the doors.
  18. Paul I used to have a remote start on a car it was nice. When I leave my office at night I hate getting in the car when it is Freezing out with out starting it up. I may talk to the dealer about the remote start... I just dont want another fob or key or anything else to carry with me. I don't know It just seems since you get out of the car and leave it running you should be able to lock it as long as the keys are not in it.
  19. This was in your first post. Now you are questioning if a oil change was done at all in the first 30 some thousand miles? If it was a leased vehicle there should be documentation on the service history. Andy sorry to be so skeptical but this is hard to believe. If this is car is having a problem like you are describing I would say I would be suprised if the oil was ever changed. I had a buddy in college his brother is a master mechanic for a ford dealership and they did an experiment on a ford escort. At 100k miles they quit changing the oil, they only made sure it was full. Quaker state oil and guess what that thing kept going and going. It went and went he drove it near another 100k...and he ran the crap out of the car too. Long story short even when the car did die it was the radiator not the engine. I just don't think your Lexus could have the amount of sludge in the engine as you are describing. 18lbs...wow.
  20. LOL I was reading all this and I was like 8 lbs then 10 lbs...what the...there is no way the oil was ever changed. Come on... Good call SRK!
  21. Travelers is a good company. We represent them and I don't have many issues when it comes to them paying claims. Best of Luck!
  22. Well you can use the key in the drivers door to lock and unlock the door. But the keyless features will not work at least on my GX? :(
  23. That's weird. Is it when playing CDs mp3 player or iPod or both? I guarantee when you take it in it will be fine! :)
  24. Get a jacket and a pair of gloves? lol J/K SORRY I Couldn't help it! Have you tried gently to assist the window up. Maybe it is just hung up. I wouldn't think it would be the fuse since it will go down...You may also want to try the switch from the drivers door as well as the back door too. Maybe it is the SWITCH. Good Luck!
  25. I guess it is possible there was something wrong with the steering wheel when they got the car in and inspected it so they replaced it. I wouldn't let it bug me that much. Ask for a free service or something with in reason to make up for the inconvenience. But it is not like they had to swap out the engine...or the car was in a fender bender before they sold it to you. I would just ask why…get it fixed and move on…and maybe get a free Lexus T shirt or hat… Best of luck to you and your new ride!
