  1. Any updates bro?? Very intrested! NEW UPDATES! after messing with the MDX projectors i decided to scrap them and go with the FX35/45 Bi-Xenon projectors. they are being shipped from MA as I type. gonna get a DigiCam and take Massive Pics for those who are interested. Sorry for the delay! good things come to those who wait!
  2. Got some updated info for any newbie's out there or anyone wanting to do a Timing Belt/Water Pump replacement. even if you don't DIY this info should save you some money on parts. My car is a 90 but this info should work on all first gen's (90-94) and may work for the gen 2.0(95-97), not the 2.5(98-00). the procedure can be found on Lexls.com. I went ahead and changed the radiator and the fan clutch also. For my parts i got quotes from multiple sites. the ones i used are: www.lexus-parts.com - Sewell Lexus in Texas www.parkplacelexus.com - Either Grapevine or Plano www.irontoad.com - Dealer in PA www.etyparts.com - great deals in CA www.autopartsplace.com - warehouse dealer www.sparkplugs.com - Great deals on Aftermarket parts each site had multiple prices on the same items so i would suggest checking them all. on etyparts.com i got the No. 1 & 2 bearings OEM brand (NSK and Koyo) for $90 shipped. also saw on ebay that a dealer in CA will sell the whole kit(TB, Serp Belt, No. 1&2 bearing, cam and crank seals) for $200, $300 w/ WP. this seller claims the parts are OEM and that he is a dealer from Sacto. there are many more but i would question their credibility. I checked their website and GMB parts are made in Japan, but are not OEM. Park Place Lexus will ship free on orders over $100. Auto Parts Place will ship free on orders over $50. my combo of parts/dealer was: TB/WP/Tensioner=Park Place Lexus; COST= $200+ No 1 & 2 Bearing=ETY Parts; COST= $90 Spark plugs/Wires=Sparkplugs.com; COST= $170 fan clutch/ Serpentine belt=autopartsplace.com; COST = $173 Radiator=etyparts.com; COST = $250+shipping There are cheaper radiators. Cooling Systems & Flex are available on autopartsplace.com. Proliance is available on summitracing.com and rockauto.com(rock is cheaper) The one I'm gettings is a Koyo brand. I also got the 24" Chain Wrench from Ebay for $30 (used to remove cam/crank bolts) you can also find the valve adjustment tool (SST A & B ) for $30 shipped and the cam sprocket holder for $45 + shipping on ebay. I hope to add more links for the suspension and brakes as i also repair/replace/demo these parts Hope This Helps! NOTE: all prices include shipping unless noted otherwize (i.e. +shipping)
  3. have you tried a clay bar? i've heard that it is very effective at restoring factory shine.
  4. alright guys and gals, going to check valves while TB/WP is being done. Bought cheap tool off ebay even though monarch says it's not the best. hopefully digicam will pop up and pics can be taken. But in the mean time my fan clutch nuts are not budging. WD-40 did nothing, new 12mm wrench and lexus wrench from trunk are being use to remove. I was thinking about taking the whole fan pulley off and then getting the clutch but the pulley won't budge either. do i need to tap it with a rubber mallet to break seal? I already removed 3 12mm bolts and 14mm bolt. waiting on chain wrench to remove crankshaft. should this be removed first? Thanks in Advance!
  5. found this searching, http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...+intake+chamber Good Luck!
  6. so to be clear, PLE, your 91 LS is not an Air Suspension model, correct?
  7. most PS pumps are not bad, just expensive. check the steering rack solenoid. do a search and read the longest post you can find.
  8. My 90 LS has been doing this for a few years now. When cold outside Idle is 700/750 until car engine is of correct temp then idle slowly drops to 200 rpm. when driving car cruises at 750 rpm but when at a stop idle srops to 200 rpm(250 if a/c is on). after reading much on this issue I think the problem is due to a vacuum leak. a hose on my air intake is broken as well as the BVSV valves (yes both) Check the BVSV valve as my idle was low before the air intake hose broke. If you look on the drivers side of the engine you should see a small hose connecting over the LH timing belt cover, this connects to the BVSV valve.
  9. I'm thinking of changing my engine mounts and i recently had my tranny changed. i was wondering if the tranny shop changed my mounts along with the tranny? any tranny experts or techs who can weigh in on the subject? Thanks in advance
  10. your throttle cable maybe off. very common, you need two 14mm wrenches and some knowledge. do a search for the throttle cable and you should find a post with attachments explaining the whole process. takes about 5 min
  11. so this seal is under the lower engine shield? mine does the same thing but i thought it was natural... like if i set the cabin temp to 60 it will blow cold air and vice versa. but i always use the outside air unless using the A/C.
  12. just think if the old belt snapped and ruined the engine. that might hurt a little more...
  13. i too ordered some vitek wires. the servce sucks royally. exact same issues. no reply form the emails, and it took a long, long, long time (cant remember how long). But after long last they came... and to my surprise... more issues the damn things didn't fit correctly, too long, so i had to modify my spark plug cover on the side without the air intake. but they do seem to work correctly. if you want a refund act quickly as the wires are prob in the mail. personally i'd use the OEM's also.
  14. i was looking in a Car And Driver recently and saw a story about a $1.4M AMG CLK with 4, yes four whole miles on the clock that was a dud. one of a few ever made that was fully pimped by AMG... body kit, serious motor, the works. the owner bought it drove home and it sat for a little while, i think a year or two, then started it up to no avail. but here's the really good part... he calls to get it serviced, so MB send some "master tech" straight from Germany personally to the guy's house. the "master tech" opens the hood, checks some things out, REMOVES SOME PARTS, goes back to Germany and is never heard form again. MBUSA doesn't know anything about it, and some poor guy has $1.4M worth of lemon to sell. my version of the story may not be complete but the essence is there. check out the CD with the $4M Enzo in it, it the one or two months old.
  15. maintence items would be timing belt and water pump, maybe some suspension parts. i'd check the power steering pump, if it's leaking then do a search and see if it's something you can tackle or not. if the PSP is leaking the the alternator is bound to die anytime and steering rack filter needs cleaning. oil leaking from the top of the engine is a valve cover gasket, back of the engine is the rear main seal. on mine both were leaking. and lastly check the tranny fluid. should be nice and red, if not the a few fluid changes will fix. other than that you should be fine
  16. there's an ebay store with tokico struts for $200 per set of 4. and if you are a penny pincher like me you may look into aftermarket springs, which cost from $200-400.
  17. mann777 the link didn't work. but hey, have you heard about the burning rock? there is a form of sandstone in the west, i think dakota or somewhere that is so rich with oil it will burn on contact, sorta like firewood. there is someone with a refinery that can convert this stone into oil/gas/jet fuel. unfortunately it produces twice the waste that refining traditional oil does (bye, bye Ozone) but it sounds promising to me if the right amount of money was put into R&D. but speaking on ethanol, it seems strange to me that the first major company pushing ethanol was GM, and now Ford but what about everyone else? if the stuff is so revolutionary then why hasn't everyone jumped on the boat?
  18. lexus-parts.com and tm engineering have them for about $100. i'd also check into daizen's sway bar bushings from tm for about $30
  19. the last 4 or 5 numbers on the Vin shows which production # the car is. for example mine is a '90 number 9975. check to see what number yours is.
  20. at that price you got a great deal on a '93. the high milage isn't really a problem as long as it was maintained properly. if not then you may have some minor issues, but these cars a built so well that you've got a helluva deal! Great Buy!
  21. check the throttle cable. Here's a link to the thread. look for your year diagram http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=throttle+cable
  22. if it does that jerking in all gears check the throttle cable. there is a thread with good info if you search
  23. there have been some issues on the site lately. do you have any spam blocking software? if so just set LOC emails as spam and you won't see them
  24. autopartsplace.com has overall the cheapest parts i've seen for just about every part available except rare items. good selection too. for dealer only parts lexus-parts.com is one of my favorites
  25. yeah i enjoy working on the lexus too. it's sorta like solving a puzzle, i get to see how each piece fits together and understand the car more.
