  1. this site has DIY tint and all state legal documents http://www.gilafilms.com/Automotive/automo...window-tint.htm
  2. CAnt really comment on the years/ difference but i know that most junkyards will either know or point you in the right direction. Lenore you just saved me about $1000. I really cannot thank you enough!!! Strangely enuff i don't visit the site much since my tranny died, so thanks to everyone. Macmacs here is some info on the trannsmission. i have more like the gear tooth contact patterns and such. PM me if you need more: AUTO TRANS DIAGNOSIS - A-340E/F/H & A-341E 1990 Lexus LS 400 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS Toyota A-340E/F/H & A-341E Electronic Controls APPLICATION APPLICATION TABLE Vehicle Application Transmission Mod Lexus 1990 LS400 ...................................... The ECU receives information from various sensors and switches. Based on information received, the ECU generates output signals to control transmission operation. The ECU system controls shift points and operation of lock-up clutch. The A-341E has a self-diagnosis function which diagnoses and notifies of a malfunction in the electronically controlled components. A failsafe function enables continuous vehicle operation even when an electronic circuit malfunction has occurred. The fail-safe feature controls solenoid valve back-up, speed sensor back-up and manual operation functions. OPERATION * PLEASE READ THIS FIRST * The engine control system consists of an engine ECU, sensors, switches and solenoids. In order for the engine ECU to perform properly, it must be kept constantly informed of engine operating conditions. It is the task of the sensors to supply the engine ECU, via electrical signals, with specific information required to determine engine operating conditions. The engine ECU will then send electrical signals to the ECT ECU to control shift timing, lock-up timing, transfer shift timing (if equipped), self-diagnostic system, fluid temperature warning system and backup system. Individual component operation is as follows. NOTE: Unless otherwise specified, references in this article to ECU refer to the ECT ECU. ECU INPUT SENSORS Throttle Position (TP) Sensor The TP sensor is mounted on side of throttle body. The TP sensor senses throttle movement and position, and transmits an electrical signal to ECU. This signal determines gear shifting points. Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) This signal is picked up from a rotor on the output shaft and informs the ECU of road speed. The ECU uses sensor signals to control shift points and lock-up clutch operation. Transfer Shift Position Switch (TSPS) The switch signals the ECU that transfer shift lever has been shifted into "L4". When switch contact points are open, the ECU detects the lever is in "H2" or "H4" position, Pattern Select Switch (PSS) 2 shift schedules are programmed into ECU: "Power" and "Normal" modes. The mode used by the ECU is determined by setting driving pattern select switch. Neutral Start Switch (NSS) The neutral start switch signals the ECU range selector lever position. Switch contains contacts for both starts; control circuit and shift position indicator. The ECU uses signals from "2" and "L" range. Brake Light Switch (BLS) The brake light switch signals the ECU whenever brakes are applied. This signals the ECU whenever brakes are applied. This signals the ECU to disengage torque converter lock-up clutch. OD Main Switch (ODMS) This switch causes transmission to shift in and out of overdrive. When OD main switch is "ON", current from battery flows to ECU, causing transmission to be OD enabled. When OD main switch is turned off, current from the battery flows to ground. Water Temperature Sensor (WTS) The sensor monitors engine coolant temperature. A signal is transmitted to ECU throughout entire range of operating temperatures. Fluid Temperature Sensor (FTS) The fluid temperature sensor sends a signal to ECU that varies with transmission fluid temperatures. Cruise Control Sensor (CCS) This sensor signals a Cruise Control ECU which prevents transmission from shifting into OD and prohibits lockup control when vehicle speed drops below the drive set speed parameters. Kickdown Switch (KS) This switch signals the ECU if the accelerator pedal is depressed beyond the full throttle valve opening position. Engine Speed Sensor (ESS) The engine speed sensor indicates engine RPM and sends a signal to the ECU. OD Direct Clutch Speed Sensor (ODDCSS) The sensor senses the input shaft speed from 1-3 gear. The whole file is 2.14MB so i couldn't upload it but
  3. I was looking on g20.net and found some retrofit info. Someone made a custom Angel eye for their car and here is the directions: http://www.diyautomods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8
  4. Sounds Like your engine is now certified *BulletProof*!!! just keep up on those tranny fluid changes.
  5. Naw Subaru's are AWD . i couldn't imagine what was done to cause this? my thoughts are high speed or a high driver! LOL Ironically there is a graveyard in the background...
  6. Hi V.I.P. there is a google map feature which shows registered LOC members and locations.
  7. Installed an Helios HID 12,000k kit on an '98 ES300 and they work fine, just don't use your auto on light feature with any after market HID. I needed a separate relay kit in order to preserve my battery. These lights require separate ballasts and igniter's in order to turn on. I had them installed at a custom joint and they made the relay, two relays that run between each HID and the light harness. You may not need this with an LS, these lights work and look great. Go on-line and find the cheapest set that match your year and model. Point them down slightly so you don't blind anyone and you'll be fine. your ES prob has halogen projectors? If you look at your headlight do you see a glass lense (should be 2 pair on each side) If so then your "Hid's" should have a cut off and not blind people as much. And I also have heard that aiming the LS headlight down as far as possible works Good thing for you (too bad for others), your Projectors are the Best Single Xenons in the business. You should have AFS and a auto leveling function to minimize glare on others. Someone put the LS headlights in a E320 Benz and had a 70' light spread. See Here: http://clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php...jector+retrofit Also check out this site for everything you every wanted to know about HID retrofits. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ Good luck!
  8. The Best must be built. Check out the link on my sig for my current progress. Too bad my tranny is broken. PS nice SC rims!
  9. I am looking on craig's list for a good deal and saw this car which the owner says still runs. It's a 92 Toyota broken drive train
  10. You said the car was kept in a garage in orlando, fl. Should be fine. I don't know how humid it gets in FL but the garage should be a cool dry place. Just to be safe get a 10mm deep socket, extension, and angle and remove the drivers side upper timing belt cover (says "32 valve V8") the upper portion of the belt should be visible and allow you to check the wear. If a lot of steel wires are sticking out then it's bad. Use Lexls.com for some good pics or search the maintence forum. Good Luck and as you can see these are some of the best and most loved cars in the world!
  11. The car is prob fine. When i changed my water pump it had 98 stamped on it and Lord only knows how many miles. I just wish i could find a deal like this.....
  12. No tranny expert, but hey, you tried to help and i really appreciate it! Thanks a million!
  13. yeah that is what i thought, something on the drive gears wasn't working properly. How was this fixed? did you just get a new tranny? did you see the link about the drive plate? It sounds like it may be what i'm looking for....
  14. it is either something really simple like a connector or the timing may be off. I'd take it back to the dealership, dont wanna harm you valves.
  15. Tranny fluid was at the correct level. I just bought a case of T-4 fluid and only had 4 qts left so i assume the fluid is good. When my tranny died 2 years ago the car would not move in drive or reverse. Now when i put the car in reverse the car chomps at the bit, ready to move. but when i put it in drive it might as well be in neutral. This happens on all the drive gears, with or w/o OD. step on the gas and the RPMs shoot up, full of power.... Sorry the car is at the shop now so i cannot pull any codes. but as described above I think it could be the drive plate???? Anyone else agree or disagree. Also Lexus-Parts has a Tranny Gasket overhaul kit and two Tranny Overhaul kits. Think these may help.
  16. Hello Everyone! my transmission has stopped working. I dropped a friend off and went to put the car in gear and the car will not go forward. The drive gears would activate kinda slowly but i thought winter might be the cause. If i put it in reverse the car is fine but none of the drive gears work(D, 2, L). I took it to the place that replaced my transmission before to see if they could figure it out but they may not so i wanted to look for myself... i found on Park Place Lexus under transmissions a drive gear for about $200. it is actually called the drive plate and here is the link: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...amp;catalogid=1 Has anyone had this problem and may this be the cure. If so i will get it ASAP. Thanks For Any Help!
  17. "Good Things Come To Those Who Wait." here are the updated pics and a short story. I cut the bracket using the dremel and the reinforced cutting discs since the regular ones broke. i also used the drill bit on the dremel to cut the mounting holes. The Rubber dust boot is off a J30(infiniti) headlight and fits perfectly on the headlight housing. this is just for practice and the final product will be a little different. I also will prob sand the whole headlight glass for better light output. PS sorry for the dark pics
  18. sorry guys i got hit w/ a virus and have been down for some time but the bracket has been cut out and the old headlight housing is being cut as we speak. Updated pics soon!
  19. Hello everyone! I have been missing for a few weeks due to a virus which crashed the internet but allowed my pc to work. After numerous attempts to clean the PC i found a site with lots of good info and wanted to share. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 Also go to google and download "SMITFRAUDFIX" and "SMITREM" both good programs that are free and will not conflict w/ AV software (norton, mcafee, NOD32) I think i got the virus after clicking on a google ad and a friend at work said he got viruses the same way so for those who do not know, open a new window or search for the website BUT DO NOT CLICK ON GOOGLE ADS! just a friendly warning and everyone is entitled to click on anything they please! PS Safe mode w/ networking!
  20. did the same thing two years ago and the same thing happened. too bad for me i didn't know much about cars then and killed the tranny. did you change the filter on the bottom of the tranny? this is prob the cause. also look at the magnets to see if the wear is bad. and if your are wondering NO i will never flush the fluid again since it is a lot easier and safer to just change the fluid (2qt out 2qt in). and since i got the new tranny i did not change the fluid for 2 years (silly me :chairshot: ) and recently the tranny started slipping but the fluid was DARK RED :cries: . did about 3 changes (6 qt total) and all is well now (will keep changing fluid in future!) but look at the filter and good luck!
  21. hello and welcome! please search aggressively! as far a posting on buy/sell you must first have a few posts and for the lcd and radio i would use ebay for a aftermarket lcd since the factory one WILL die. just a matter of time. any toyota radio adapter will work if you wanted to upgrade to a aftermarket stereo, but these may be on ebay also. and there is someone parting out their LS in the buy/sell forum
  22. That is the case on most cars but the LS has many known issues and this is one. Here check out this recent post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...r+control+valve And if you search using "air+control+valve" you will get many more post about the issue. someone in the past actually added a filter to catch the PS fluid going thru the hose and into the intake. also you will see that the part is available for less that the website i first posted. ALWAYS check multiple sites for parts. Prices change with the shop. I'll post a pic when i wash it!
  23. hi and welcome! look on ebay or l-tunedparts.com. also try and search for many good post and much info!
  24. Hello frenchy sounds like you need a Idle up valve check this part out: http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/autop...rt=Vacuum+Valve it has a hose which connects to the intake which breaks causing power steering fluid to enter the intake chamber making white smoke. do a search for "idle up valve" and fine out more
