  3. does anyone think the urethane body paint would hold up to some engine heat??? ;)
  4. i think 94 was the firsr year that the emblems came out on the LS and your right i have also seen them on pre 94`s on the 94 the only changes to the car were some body enhancments like side skirts and so on and new bigger rims 16in. but over all it looks the same so some of the ones that you thought were 90`s LS400 could just have been a 94. some are gold plated as an option. there are places that specialize in doing 24K gold plating if you want them done. :magic:
  5. japan? or some jdm websites and locate a shop that will bring in some jdm bodykits
  6. i you want to know how much gas to put in its best to get the factory maunal and see how much to put in
  7. it may be that your calipers needs a rebuild
  8. the only solution to that is to not turn on your a/c when you run your a/c it adds a significant amount of drag so the rpm rises when its on and slows down when it disengauges
  9. look in a car and driver mag. towards the back i remember seeing some replica companies or something like that or you can try ebay cuz theres always peaple selling their stock rims for the aftermarket. i dont know of any shopmanuals that are sold out of shop so you should just go and buy one ot the dealer.
  10. it might be to program phone numbers if but does it have a phone? just a thought
  11. you can set it off by opening you window and locking you doors then unlocking manualy and it should go off
  12. what did you upgrade them to? just thicker wires???
  13. toyota has their own engine oil so maybe he is told to only recomend their own oil? but still synthetic all the way
  14. the clutch runs for about $200 so you ac shop is trying to work you wallet and your hubby con do the job easily if he has done it before. you should go and buy the factory manuals (are expensive but worth every penny) and he should ahve no problem changing it out its just under a lot of dash so it takes time
  15. one person i know has flow masters on his and it looks stock if you dont look carefully and its not loud at all but you get that nice 6 cylinder growel you wont hear it coming but if your close you can tell its not stock
  16. the security system stays on for about 30 seconds after you unlock the doors in case you dont open them the doors lock again well at least thats what i remember hearing from the dealer sales man. the noise from the dash, does it sound like a few clicks that come and go every 2or3 seconds? mine does that i think its the odometer gear or something like that thats just worn or something
  17. find a paint shop that uses the same stuff you do, reducers ,hardeners, staibalizers, and so on and ask them to match the car color by taking your car down there and they can match it very well. or find a painter that will just match it for you and buy what he uses
  18. Apex mufflers are known to rust at the rear welding joint so i dont know about an Apex i have seen several cars at a local shop i hang out at that had the same area rust and open a hole. one car had duals and both were rusted so what do you think?
  19. i havent really messed with the system like putting@a new deck in or anything but from what i hear its really complicated but theres always peaole that say its simple
  20. theres one in the gas tank as there is in most all cars right before the pump, i dont know if there is one on the way to the engine bay, and there should be a canister looking thing that fuel lines run to before it is sprayed in the engine, change it with O.E.M. its probably the best out there.
  21. in these automatics i dont think that these engines make enough power to break teeth but well if you shop sais so. but heres my reason for transmission failure. inside of automatics there are individual clutch packs for every speed. it almost looks like a triple plate clutch but with like 10-15 discs. now in these clutch packs every other disc has a friction material like in a cluch and after that 100k of what ever distance you drive for it to not work wears this material out and makes it slip and shutter. other trans. failures can come from valve body failure. the trans, being hydraulic relies on rubber o rings to seal various pistons valves and so on. these rubber parts deteriorate or harden and this leads to trans failure. and most trans failures under normal driving conditions are caused by the valve body and its rubber parts.
  22. remember lexus is a name brand of toyota so it is a toy engine and the prices are different on these engines? if they are it must be the elctronic things that are around the engine that makes this expensive i dont know about the engine it self.
  23. yes i think because i have seen sc rims on a 90-93LS and i have seen many GS/IS rims on SC`s
  24. the reason why you loose bottom end when you blow off your cats is that back pressure in you r exhaust creates more bottom end torque. when you modify an engine most of the time you have to loose to gain. in any case you have to remember that this engine was originaly made for the LS 400.....a luxury car made for confort and reliability. not a race car right? have you ever heard the story that toyota, when revealing the first production LS400 to the press built a champagne glass pyramid on the hood of the car and started the engine.......what happened? not one fell showing everyone how smooth the engine was.
