  1. dduvall. i just sold a 2006 gs430 navigation system that has the 6 disc cd dvd changer right below the screen that plays dvd movies on the screen . when i looked up the buyer of the system on google that i just sold it is the owner a comapny that sells video i pod adapters that willk work on oem applications like lexus. i assume he bought the system to make an video ipod adapter for lexus cars. so you will be able to download a movie video in your ipod and have both sound and video from your video ipod playing on your lexus navigation screen and through the dolby 7.1 sound systerm. . so our conversation about such an adapter was not so far feched after all!!
  2. ON THE BACK PACKAGE SHELF INSIDE THE VEHICLE.
  3. you just need an volt meter to trace the wires. its more likely a crack in the circuit board that is causing that sort of in and out. you would need to inspect the circuit board to find a crack in a trracing.
  4. if you have factory navigation the sound comes from the navigation computer to the drivers door so there may be a problem with the computer.
  5. it could be a bad dac which is the nakamichi box mounted on the back of the cd changer.
  6. yea i tried that..when i fade to the right..its really really faint..then when i put towards the middle..the driver side..comes alive and sounds perfect possibilies . number one is the speaker is blown but you havent said whether the voice nav still works or is it faint also. if voice nav also faint then . number 2 the drivers door speaker gets signal from the amp to the nav computer amp in the trunk. there the voice nav amp inside the computer interupts and mutes the sound signal for voice communications. it could be stuck on mute. the only way to know for sure would be to switch the computer with a known working computer . it sounds like the amp is out on the right side.

  8. You can purchase a remanufactured display from a Lexus dealer - part number 86111-60172-OW. Have them verify if the display is the culprit since they aren't cheap. They have diagnostic access to see what is going on inside the AVC-LAN system. if its a 2004 it should still be under warranty and even if miliage over they have a bullitin out about the problem so lexus should fix it.
  9. THE 4 DOOR SPEAKER AMP IS IN THE HEAD UNIT. THE CARSTEREOHELP.COM WEBSITE IS INCORRECT THAT THE NAK AMP IS UNDER THE CD CHANGER IN 90 TO 92. . IT IS UNDER ON THE GS AND SC FIRST GENRATION BUT NOT LS. THE 93 94 NAK AMP WENT TO 5 CHANNELS LIKE GS AND SC BUT THEY GOT SMARTER AND PUT IT ON TOP OF THE CD CHANGER IN 93 94. I WOULD SAY ITS JUST THE SPEAKERS NOT THE AMP. THE SPEAKERS HAVE PAPER CONES AND 16 YEARS IS ABOUT IT FOR THE PAPER. I HAVE POLYPROPYLENE UPDATED SPEAKERS IN STOCK IF YOUR INTERESTED. THEY COME WITH PHOTO INSTALL DIRECTIONS.
  10. what year is your lx470? external system not conncted means one ot the components is either missing or there is a l;oose plug. 2004 lx470 had the avc lan plug defective and it was a factory defect.
  11. yes i can change the expansion board in your lexus factory changer so it will work with the p seires pioneer aftermarket units which yours is p series cd changer port. that is what the p is befire the 980bt. in the model number deh-p980bt the p means it is pbus. so i change the board and then the pseries wiring harness will now plug into the lexus changer i charge 75.00 for this service and it includes the new wiring which alone would be 75.00 if bought from pioneer. so you will still have your same changer in the glovebox and use the same lexus magazines. but will now play though your new pioneer head unit. the changer will even put out cd text and other new features of the new pioneer headunit that it didnt do with the lexus headunit. and the gs changer was made in japan not some third world country like the current pioneer aftermarket and will be playing many years after a new aftermarket changer has quit working soon after its 1 year warranty is up................................................................................................................................. by the way a new gs display that will last at least another 8 years are only 125.00 and are easy to replace with my photo directions. another option is to install a used 2007 es350 navigation head unit which has a 4 disc changer and bluetooth capability . the advantage of that is that it is completely compatible with your present lexus digital audio system whereas the pioneer is going to have to bypass the current amplifier and when it sounds terrible running off the small amp in the deh pioneer headunit then the installer will hit you up for aftermarket amp and new speakers all around.by the time you spend that much you could have the latest factory head unit. plus it will say lexus when you turn on the screen and increase the value of your vehicle instead of decreasing the value like aftermarket units do. no matter how much money you have spent on an aftermarket stereo the first thing any used car seller does when flipping a lexus is remove the aftermarket stereo and put back the original.
  12. yes i have new belts in stock. 2 little ones and 1 big one. will send with instructions. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for details
  13. yesi can modify it to work with any pioneer p series headunit which avic n seires are pseries ibus for changer which means there is a blue 10 pin squarish port on the avic brain to plug in a changer. heres pictures of the changer with the pioneer pcb board changed to work on aftermarket pioneer, the headunit under the changer is pioneer pbus just like avic ni n2 n3 d1 d2. the lexus changer was made in japan not third world countries like the new pioneer aftermarket changers which means many years of high end cd music.
  14. SINCE THE 2003 ES300 IS THE 2 PIECE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WITH THE COMPUTER ATTACHED TO RIGHT TRUNK CEILING ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UPDATE THE WHOLE COMPUTER BOX TO GENERATION 4 OR 5 AND YOU WILL BE ABLE OVERIDE THE LOCKOUT WHILE DRIVING. here is a picture of an 01 rx300 nav screen showing the overide button. CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE IT.
  15. the hole in the factory plate is not doulbe din like aftermarket . its 1 inch wider. also the factory es nav system made by denso is better than any alpine, pioneer or kenwood aftermarket nav so why would you go aftermarket? factory nav would increase resale by $1000 and aftermarket would actually decrese value even less than over the factory cassette cd changer without nav. you can still tap off the factory digital amp and get signal for left and right channel for an aftermarket subamp and sub and still have a plug in and play factory nav system.
  16. yes that is the last one from 2005. the data is always 1 year behind the year it is releaes. they keep saying it will be last UPDATE for hard drive but they keep updating it............................................................................. the new 2007 high end navs are going back to hard drive instead of dvd disc so how antiquated is the old hard dfrive system for 98 to 2000 ls400 and gs300/400? . sounds like it was the way to go all along.
  17. the pictorial guide to remove stock radio can be found on car stereohelp.com. the speed sensor wire location also is on this forum if you do a serach for it...................................................................................................... i have done many 98 and 99 es300 nav conversions to factory es330 nav units so the conversion is similar. i can also convert your factory japan made changer to pioneer adftermarket changer simply by excHanging the pcb plug in board. that would be far superior to pioneer aftermarket changer and even picks up cd text of song name that wasnt on the factory headunit capabilities. the conversion would include a new ipbus cable that would plug into the avic-n1 brain box. you keep same glovebox location and same 6 disc magazine and eject button....................................................................................................................... a cd changer is much needed in your planned conversion since the pioneer avic only hac 1 slot so cant play cds and dvd map at the same time. the double din es330 factory nav unit is far superior in that is has 2 slots one for cd and one for the dvd behind the flip down screen and both can run at the same time.......................................................................................... also the factory nav conversion is compatible with the digital 98 es300 factory amp.and aftermarket is not compatible. your going to have to bypass the amp now and it the wont recognize the aftermarket headunit.
  18. the original was only 80 watts max. it would be hard for the amp to match up to the 250 to 500 watt max but at least the 2 ohms would be right.
  19. yes the 2000 gs is second genration gs radio and the 2001 is third generation. every new generation of lexus radios have new radio plugs and usuually a new radio shape and size. but the third generation gs radios are same size as second generation the only lexus model that didnt change the radio opening in the dash. but the third geration radio went to the standard 20 pin plug like all the other third generation lexus radios so the wires would have to be matched and connected just like if you put in an aftermarket radio but of course much better than any aftermarket radio because the third geration gs radio will show lexus xm and such peripherals on the lcd instead of a hand held fm modulated xm unit like the 2nd generation.
  20. you can tap the right and left channel digital output of the factory amp and hook up a seperate amp but you cant replace the factory amp as it is the only amp the headunit will recognize and play
  21. 4 ohms 20 to 40 watts if your using factory amp. sub is 2 ohms 80 watts.
  22. first of all it is a 1988 designed panasonic changer . the first year of any cd player in any vehiclkes. most usa owners didnt own a cd to play in it in 1988. so it was designed at the dawn of cd player in cars. but it was a design that they continued toput in the sc until 1998 10 years later. . pioneer on the other hand continued to improve their lexus factory changers in the ls, es . their first attempt in the fall 1989 ls400 also had desgn problems but p[ioneer kept reinventing their version to make entirely new designs in 1992 for es300, 1993 for ls400 1995 for the glovebox changers. so 3 generations improvement in the pioneer lexus changers but the sc continued with the first gernation panasonic. and yes lexus changers always have had communication lines that talk to the headunit from day 1 and the adapter companies were never able to crack the codes . finally with the 300 to 600 hundred dollar control boxes for video, ipod ,dvd players etc the codes have been broken recently but at a high price just to add a cd changer. yes they intentionally made the communication codes as almost all car manufactuers do in 2005. lexus was just 10 years ahead of their time.
  23. i have the complete es300 factroy nav system even the mark levinson faceplate and complete navigation wiring harness to make it a plug in and play instalation. email me at pioneersuby@woh.rr.com for further details.
