  1. Thanks for the reply. My radio/cassett player has the cd player buttons. Can I assume it is capable of controlling the changer?
  2. I just bought a cd changer for my 1995 ES300. My ES300 has never had a changer. I found the wires in the trunk but need to know how to mount in the trunk. The changer came with the mounting bracket. Looks like the bracket bolts to the drivers side and the bottom of the trunk. Does it mount over and through the trunk carpets or underneath? Will I have to cut the carpets and side trunk panel to install? Any advise or problems experienced with installing would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I have/hopefully had the same problem with my 95 ES300 with 119000 mi. I had a Lexus service garage replace a leaky power steering pump, crank seal and cam seals. Also, had my timing belt changed while they had everything torn apart. After all that work ($1500 worth), I began noticing the burnt oil smell again (very strong). While having my transmission flushed by another garage, I had them clean the area where the oil had leaked and check for leaks. They found nothing and so far (1 day) I have smelled nothing. I will be taking my car back to the Lexus service garage for a leak check. Hopefully my problem has gone. I’ll let you know how I make out. I know what your going through…the smell is very strong and frustrating. ;)
  4. You know the saying…misery love company. I can live with the noise as well. 119,000 miles here.
  5. My 95 ES300 makes a rear clunking noise when going over bumps. Sounds like something loose in the truck. I’ve checked the truck (spare, tools and jack) and everything is secure. Lexus service garage advised me that my car has struts that are seconds although they are ok for state inspection. They thought the rear clunking noise was from worn rear bushings. Estimate to replace $120.00. I had another garage look at my car and they thought the noise was from the rear struts and not the bushings. Anyone have any suggestions/thoughts?
  6. Thanks very much guys. My ES300 goes right into drive and reverse. Just hesitates to shift when cold. Appears to shift fine after about 2-4 minutes. Last night I changed the transmission filter, oil pan gasket and about 3.5 quarts of ATF. Transmission dip stick and service manual calls for Dexron II - ATF. Used Dexron III –ATF. When I get my transmission oil flushed, should I ask for Toyota/Lexus brand? If so, what’s the difference?
  7. Thanks for your reply and putting my mind at ease. Any thought on the type of ATF. Does it have to be a Toyota/Lexus brand or is Dexron-III ok?
  8. I have a '95 ES300 with 118,000 mi. The auto transmission hesitates to advance from 1st to 2nd gear when it's cold. After the car warms-up it appears to shift fine. I initially noticed this during the most recent cold spell we experienced here in the Northeast (-15 F). The hesitation still occurs now that we are experiencing warmer temperatures. I have scheduled a transmission oil flush. The garage technician did not feel I needed to replace the transmission filter/screen. My questions are: Is the hesitation I'm experiencing possible signs of a failing transmission? Should the transmission filter/screen be replaced along with the flush? I have purchased a transmission filter kit (pan gasket and filter). I planned on changing the filter and ATF oil by removing the pan. In order to save some labor, should I change the filter and oil in the pan and then have the flush done?
