  1. Makes perfect sense! ;) :D
  2. I love the LS! B) Very cool color. Someone down my street has a Legend that color. I find it to be grey instead of taupe. The 95-96 Camry is one of the best Camrys in my opinion....such a beautiful and simple design!
  3. Tyra Banks has a white SC430-saw it on TNN's "Funkmaster Flex." It was completely stock until they added larger chrome rims.
  4. I got mine on ebay for $175-shipped. That is both books that were brand new at the time. Follow ebay for a while, some should show up at a reasonable price.

    Gas Prices

Really simple! Go EASY on the gas...accelerate slowly. That's the trick. ;) I don't allow my car to rev any higher than 2k rpms in the city(the tranny will catch on to this and alter its shifting points). On the highway, I lock the cruise at about 60-70mph. My ignition has less than 3k miles on it, Michelins aired up to 44psi, and Mobile1 Super Syn. BTW, I can make my car get 16.5 in the city if I'm not careful with the gas; it's all in how you treat that tempting gas pedal. ;)

What kind of mileage are you getting? My 95LS gets 21mpg in the city and 28 out on the highway. :D Not too bad for a V8!

    Gas Prices

I guess I can consider myslef lucky because I only have to pay $2.07 for Shell(premium-93) gas. These prices are rediculous. Now, I wish I had a Ford deisel becasue diesel is something like $1.65 a gallon!
  8. For the steering wheel, go with American Stitches. They do pretty good work. Try an upholstry shop for the carpet. My upholsterer told me that new carpets in the LS would be close to $1k. He said it was so high because none of the aftermarket carpets look that good, so he would use an OEM Lexus carpet.
  9. The new wires don't really do much because I changed my wires(which were the origionals) on my LS with 225k at the time, and the mileage stayed the same. However, I don't let my LS rev over 2k rpms, and I get 21mpg, and this is a V8!!! :) Being gentle on the gas is the best way to conserve! ;)
  10. I couldn't agree more! :D I'm in the process of selling my '94 ES for this reason. I bought a '95 LS, and she's got tons of room fore and aft even for a guy that's 6'3(me!!!)! Don't get me wrong; the ES is a wonderful car(I think the 1MZFE is one of the greatest engines ever...soo smooth and quiet), but not if you're over 6'. LLoyd, it sounds like it's time to switch over to a LS too! ;) :D
  11. Welcome, Charles! :D Don't pay anywhere near $10k for the car(you can get a car with 110k for that price!)! I just bought a '95 with 224k in Feb. for $6000. My car had no official service records other than the p/s pump at 215k and new front brakes at 210k, but I went for it anyways because it drove beautifully. The best thing to do is drive the car. Do every little test you can think of-go on the freeway(especially feel for vibrations that could be suspension problems), stomp on it at a stand still( it should go like a bat out of hell-I want to say 0-60 in 7.5sec range, right?-and please your ears with wonderful racecar-like sounds!), slam on the brakes, go in heavy traffic, etc. In every situation above, the car should be extremely smooth and stable even with that kind of mileage. You can expect suspension problems(bushings, lower ball joints, etc.), possible p/s leaks, and a burnt stereo LCD; Lexus bushings suck(my LS and ES have this prob.)! My car had a really badly torn driver's seat and console-easily fixed with junkyard parts and a few other common Lexus glitches like the power antenna problems, dead hood supports, and a dead stereo LCD. My car runs(dead silent) and drives like a new car! The only problem with my car is the paint; it's any weekend detailer's nightmare(the Onyx has NO clearcoat. urrr)! Also, check every body panel for official VIN stickers; this will let you know if the car was ever in a wreck if they are missing. Here's my baby at 226.8k(I expect many, many more miles out of this fine machine!) and only $6k--our little secret lol...
  12. What a gorgeous pool! :D I wish ours was that nice(we really don't swim it that much anymore-busy, busy, busy)! Taking care of a pool is really not as much work as everyone likes to believe; just make sure it always has chlorine, set the pump timer to run 2x a day, and invest in an automatic pool cleaner like a Polaris or AquaBot...do these and you'll be set! Enjoy that fantastic pool! ;)
  13. I'm glad you said this, and it's extremely respectable that you don't get a dog for that reason! :D It's awful to see neglected dogs; they remind me of little people-they all have personalities just as we do! lol Don't get one if you can't take care of it(even if little Johnny bugs you about it) physically and emotionally-I know that sounds a little flakey, but our 2 dogs demand a lot of attention, and if they don't get it, they get very sad. I cut a few yards for extra spending money, and I see a few neglected dogs. One family has a black Lab that is neglected; they put his food and water on the back yard, so that he doesn't mess up the house, but when you buy the puppy, what do you think he's gonna do?? The 2 min I pet him while I'm in their backyard is more attention then they pay him in a week. The only reason they have him is because their darn son bugged them about it until they caved. They bought the dog, and now the kid decides that he doesn't want the dog any more, so out he goes. Annie demands a king sized bed and several blankets to sleep in, and Rosey used to sleep in bed with us, but she hasn't in a while-she has her blankets on the floor that she likes very much. She's just getting very old-I supose this is why(she also uses the restroom all over the house-no more control)? :( She has been taking her age well, but about a year or two, it caught up with her and hit her like Mr.Sypher's new KW's. Thanks for the kind words, Jill! They look so ferocious when they pull their noses up and show their teeth. Annie has never bitten anyone out of rage, ever(...we've had her 6 years). She has given me a little nibble a few times, but we were playing-me harassing her is more like it, so I deserved(and expect) it! Thanks for all of the responses and pics everyone! :D
  14. I'm at the office right now, but I'll email you some more this evening. Lift the cover very lightly and push it back toward the key ring section(away from the metal key blade).
  15. BT, I hope these help(let me know if you need anything specific).... All of my keys! I find it easiest to very lightly pull up on the cover while pulling back. Be extremely careful! The last thing you want to do is break a $200+ key! ;)
  16. WOW!!! Get your oil changed immediately!! You are only supposed to go about 5k miles between oil changes. ;) Waiting this long greatly encourages sludge.
  17. Weird, huh?? It's the same thing with the water pump too! https://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...997&catalogid=1 ...$154. It's only $88 at irontoad? :o Sure there wasn't a zero in front of that? j/k
  18. Try this one buddy: https://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...=20&catalogid=1
  19. I'm not sure how you know if the rotors, wires, and caps are bad; I had a cel( engine misfire) that required me to change them. I really don't they'll die on you unless you get water in there...which is what I did(long story!). My LS's wires had 1995 stamped on them, and I changed them out with a odo reading of 226k, so I think you're probably ok! You're looking at about $250 for plugs, wires, rotors, and caps. Your car will perform better; mine responded days quicker. It's really easy to do even if you don't have your engine apart(if you were to do it while doing the t belt).
  20. It seems like Park Place Lexus(newlexusparts.com) has changed their site name or something. Here's the link: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...808&catalogID=1 . Luckily, I had it saved because I can't seem to find it anymore. <_< I placed an order from them, and I highly recommend. $88 for the water pump?? PP Lexus wants $154! It's time for my second timing belt service, so I'll definantly be looking at irontoad for that $88 pump! BTW, that tensioner price is in line with PP Lexus's. Other than the water pump, irontoad's and PP Lexus's prices are +/- $5 of each other. You should get some wires too if you're going to do the rotors and caps.
  21. First off, Welcome to the club! :D The suspension noise you are hearing from the rear suspension is most likely a bushing or mount. Very common on Lexi. ;) My ES has this problem and my LS too. The LS is real bad, so I'm going to get that fixed soon(the ES isn't too bad=doesn't bug me too much!). For your door, why don't you let a body shop take care of it? I'd bet they could make it look real nice for a similar amount that you'll spend on a door.
  22. Nope. These are 2 different animals. The MAF is on the intake hose right before the trottle body. Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe that the O2 sensors are all on the exhaust manifold area?? <_<
  23. Yeah! In the summer it'll get to 95+ degrees on a typical day, and then for an added bonus, factor in the insane humidity. This winter, I don't think we got any lower than 35 degrees! ;) I can't wait to move out of this state to somewhere with a nicer climate!!!
  24. The Leatherique treatment is comming nicely. However, I have suspended it until we get into the full summer down here. It's still kinda cool down here(in the 80's); I really want to wait until it gets into the triple digits or atleast the mid-upper nineties. I'm actually having an intersting experience with the Leatherique. While the leather doesn't feel like it's getting any softer(maybe it's my imagination!), I can see that it is. The gatherings(the folded sections on the seat backs and doors) in the leather that were pulled so tight they were nonexistant. The Leatherique must be doing somehting because the gathered look is comming back on the seats and doors(the doors are looking awesome!). I'm just waiting because this stuff is priced like gold, and I want to get the most for my money. I also find that the leather isn't absorbing that much of the Leatherique, and after I wipe it dry, the seats are sticky. Am I doing anything wrong here? The first time, I left the Leatherique on for about 5 hours(a warm day approx 80+ deg.), and the second time, I left it on for about 6 days while I was at Disney World(not sure about the temps, but I think it stayed in the low 70's.).
