  1. Wow, I really got chills as I read the post; things like this really make you stop and evaluate your life and it's importance. I'm very sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my prayers. That was a very commendable thing to do by selling your LS. Enjoy the Expediton(they're fine SUV's), and I hope you still check to see what the LOC is up to from time to time.
  2. WOW, what a sharp looking car, Wanda!!! :D I wish my Black Onyx still looked that good. I tend to agree with the others as far as the wheels go. I'd run the Michelins bald; then, find a set of oem LS rims-it'd look awesome!! Either way, she looks like a wonderful car! I see that you have an ES too(and SC); I have to ask what Lex is your favorite? I'd take my LS(a rippin' V8 and loads of room!) 9 times out of 10 over my ES. B) BTW, after seeing your new car, I really need to get my windows tinted!! Take care of the new machine.
  3. 4.0, what did you have in mind for this meet? Where? When? All of that good stuff! I'd love to drive up to one of the Carolinas! I went to Charlotte, NC a while back, and it was simply gorgeous! :D Secret Agent 99, you'd have to bring your machine-it just wouldn't be the same! Maybe a few of us that live in Ak, La, Mo, etc. could meet up in Tenessee(seems like a central location to the east) and caravan to the final destination. Let's get this thing going especially for all of us that don't live up in the NE but would like to meet up with some fellow Lexus enthusiast here on LOC!
  4. YES!!!! :D I think it would be better titled as a SE Region meet! lol ;)
  5. Very cool!!! B) Tell us some more about the car...features? Is that a nav? I love the color!! What kind of mileage will you be getting? Is it slow? Your detailing job looks great! :D
  6. Thanks Mr. Sypher. Annie is a teriffic dog! She's really a big(not your typical slender dobe! She weighs 85 lbs on the typical smaller female frame, but we love her to death anyways!) baby; she can put on her mean face if she wants. They look so ferocious when they show their teeth. That's not a sleeping blanket she has with her; it's a blanket that she nurses on-hence it's name "bankee!" She's had them since we got her as a puppy. The blanket is a great tool because it gives her something to chew on that she enjoys. She never chewed up anything!
  7. Great minds think a like don't they?? ;) My exact preferences! I thought I was the only one that had Cashmere as number 1!!! I wish Lexus still had the color; I'm not too crazy about the replacement color- Mystic Gold. I think Cashmere was the best beige ever; perfect balance of gold and tan! I wonder why I love Cashmere so much? Hmmm.....(what a gorgeous color!) Just a hunch, but is your ES Cashmere too, LexusFreak?
  8. The 1998 was the first year that made 290hp due to the introduction of VVT-i.
  9. When you register with Lexus.com, they give you that info. Registered? Look under the "my Vehicles" tab; then, of course, select your '93 LS. You'll see all of the info on the car, and the "exterior color" should be filled in. This's how I found out my colors. I've seen an ES in this color too now that I think about it. I have a neighbor a few doors down with a Legend, but this one is very dark grey. Same color as yours? I know what you're saying about searching for the right LS. It took me 6 other LS's before I found my '95! Just like you said they were all too expensive or too dirty or too something. Sounds like you car is is in great shape! :D
  10. I know they don't have their own specific codes, but my car gave off the "random cyliner misfire" code. I looked it up in my repair manual, and it said that the code could be caused by the ignition system. I changed the ignition system, adn the cel was never to be seen again!
  11. Not that much different? Really? :o That's like night and day to me(and several others)! There's no bleach in the eraser, so no need to worry about that. I think the pics in the gallery show the difference just as well as these do. I don't think I said the seats were whiteish, but they lightened several shades back to their origional light tan color. :D Intersting color! Certainly not ugly at all, but it's not my cup of tea either(the only Lexus color that I think is legitimately ugly is red. I've seen many, and they all scare me! Sorry red guys.)! I love the plain, boring colors with beige and white topping my charts. Some how I ended up in a black LS! lol What color is your car? Grey? In some pics it does look kinda purpley. What does Lexus call this color? Do you like the color? That's what's most important! ;)
  12. Hesitation + roughness cold be a plug/wire problem(I had a recent experience with this a few weeks ago. My car gave me those same problems. As it turns out she needed new plugs and wires.)! I took my '95 to AutoZone for a free code reading a few weeks ago to pinpoint my check engine light problem. They'll say that the car must be '96+, but Lexus changed over before everyone else, so just humor them and tell them it's a '96.
  13. Huh? It's the same Sony digi cam and similar lighting conditions. All credit goes to Mr. Clean!
  14. Here's the post; my pics are on the second page. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=5877&
  15. All of those cleaners that you listed aren't really worth a darn! Go to your local grocery and buy some Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They work wonders! I took some before and after pics of my '95 LS to show their phenominal results. See "Great New Cleaning Tool" for all of the info.
  16. That's perfectly understandable! :D My dogs never go near my Lexi...ever!!! I love Golden Retrievers; I hope to have one one day. They are such beautiful dogs, and their happy-go-lucky personality is awesome!
  17. I'm not sure what makes a good tire, but I do know that they are Michelins that were about $140 a piece. My tires don't spin(well, I suppose they do but not in the muscle car way I'm thinking!); they just give a real nice chirp. I did get a tiny chirp into second which was very cool. I didn't clock any of my runs; I wish I could have. I just enjoyed the sound of the 1UZFE!!! B) After I did my plugs, wires, rotors, and caps, the car responed so much quicker than before. I could tell just by reving the car while in the driveway. Also, after doing all of these acceleration test, I figured out how fast I had to react in order to get the tires to chirp. How's the mpg going? Still at 12-15? How's your air filter?
  18. Another 60k? I'm at 226k(95), and mechanically the car is in tip top shape! I plan on atleast 400k out of this car! My car needs its second timing belt soon, so I'm going to order from newlexusparts.com. I just tried their website; it is fine for me. Try this link to newlexusparts: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...990&catalogid=1 . Let me know how bad the timing belt service is; I can't decide if I want to do it myself or not. Hope this helps!
  19. Nope, I only have 260hp(the 98+ had 290), so it's not that much of a difference. I have relatively new Michelins(MXV4 Energy H rated) on all four corners; no cheapo tires here!
  20. Jezz! What's your problem? You really need to take a look at your life if a few high schoolers asking some LOC members about their college experiences upsets you. Is your life really that terrible? Need a divorce? Counsling? Better job? I have friends that can help you with all of the above. This is supposed to be a fun club, but people like you try to make otherwise. I think you're the "immature [dope]" if you can even handle a little variation from the posted topic. Besides, we've already answered his question numerous times in the first 2 pages. I think it was great that Steve warned you; you deserved it!!! Calling such a nice group as LOC "immature dopes" is the epitome of RUDENESS!
  21. Kind of a random topic, but what the heck! So, what kind of dogs/cats do yall have? We have two awesome dogs. Rosey, our 14 year old Boston Terrier, and Annie, our 6 year old Doberman. They are both like family members, and they get offended if we don't let them sleep in our beds under the covers! Needless to say, they are spoiled beyond belief! Rosey is a great dog, but her age(14) is taking a toll on her. She relieves herself all over the hose which she has never done, and she is blind in one eye because of a detatched retna. Other than her eye, she is in great health for 14 years old(she's only a few years younger than me!). She was an extremely fun dog and a great watchdog in her younger days. Sadly, she spends most of her days bundled up sleeping in our beds. Annie is probably the best dog we've had. She's just like a live stuffed animal...so affectionate! Eventhough she's a Dobe, she's the sweetest, most emotional dog we've ever had! When I come home from school, the rate at which her tail wags could power a small city, and sadly, she pouts when we leave in the morning. She's a superb watchdog at a moments notice despite her very loveable side. I'd trust her around an infant and know that nobody would touch the baby! She's also extremely smart; she knows exactly when she's done something wrong and will put this terrible look on her face. It's kinda funny! Annie has a few medical problems though. She's diabetic, so I have to inject her with 30units of insulin 2x a day. She also has a thyroid problem and an overactive bladder. Fortunately all of her problems are solved with medicines...2 thyroid pills and 1 bladder pill. She's such a good sport about taking the medicines too! Rosey: Annie
  22. I was in your same boat a little while ago, but I didn't have the brake pad light too. I thought all of the lights were good, but I never checked the 3rd brake light, and that was my problem. Just a thought.
  23. What's your take on the Mag 750? Does it get lost or misguide you or anything like that? Did you install it or pro only type job? Is that it's antenna on the trunk, and is the hd for the nav? BTW, I really like the color of your car. ;)
  24. 1UZFE, I did a little testing today just for you! Man was it fun! :D I wanted to see if I could make my tires chirp like a lot of other people said they could. So, I went to a quiet back road, and did a series of 0-60 type test. At first I could not get the tires to chirp, but after I did it a few times, my response time insreased, so I was able to drop the hammer quick enough to get a chirp! :D I found out how to really make them chirp. I used both feet so that 1 was on the brake and the other was holding the tach at 1k-1.5k rpms. When I let go of the brake and I floored it at the same time, it was AWESOME! No burn out, but a much stronger chirp, and I even got a tiny chirp going into second. The tire chip is attainable, but it took me a little practice! BTW, '95 LS-226k miles with totally new igniton: rotors, caps, wires, and plugs-ND Iridium. How do you drive your car? My car can get as much as 21mpg in the city, but after I went racing around the back roads, I only got 16.5mpg :( . Try this: don't accelerate past the 2k rpms range. It sounds terribly slow, but it's really not because of our low end torque abundance. Plus the tranny will use it's brain to give you a hand too(it'll notice what you're up to and change the shift pattern. My 95 did this, and I think it's incredible that a car can do that! My baby's so smart).
  25. Linux, all I did was spray a little Pledge on a paper towel; then, I just polished it. I agree it came out quite nice! I always love sharing pics; I wish others would do it more. Thanks so much for the kind words. :) Thanks Silver, now I just need to work on the paint. Then, I'll really sleep well!
