  1. I believe the owners manual will tell you at least to keep the rims clean and that corrsion can cause problems. Not running really nice wheels in the winter is just a matter of preference and common sense.
  2. I can't see anyone actually doing this, but then it probably happens. As for the dealer, they just aren't thinking. No doubt they send the same list of services out for every model. I'm surprised there's nothing there about changing the transfer case fluid. You do it mainly (on a car with all 4 same size tires) if one tire has been punctured and you want to put it in the trunk, but the spare is mounted in the wrong direction for the place you want to put it. Or if one tire is severerly worn and you want to put the best 4 tires on the ground.
  3. The Is300 is a 3.0 Litre engine. The Is330 is a 3.3 litre engine. Get it? No such animal as a IS330 was ever made. :chairshot: Get it?
  4. You need to host the pic or clip on some site like Photobucket or Youtube and then put a link to it here.
  5. Here's one tutorial. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=27843...=diy+oil+change Here's another one. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=26459...=diy+oil+change The second one has a good idea, to take a new filter and use it to figure out how to get it into and out of the engine compartment, thus learning and not making a mess at the same time.
  6. Put a plastic bag around the filter. Remove the transmission dipstick. And with some effort you can remove the filter out the top. For coolant drain and refill, all you need is the radiator drain. You can empty the overflow tank using s siphon or turkey baster.
  7. Thanks, good thread. But it didn't tell me how to turn off the DRL's. Anyone have an idea how I can do this? Why don't you just unplug the bulbs or remove the bulbs? Seems like the easiest way to solve your problem. -GM I'm assuming that would create a 'light bulb error' on the dash????? I think I'm going to get some of those xenon match bulbs. None of the dealers I've talked to seem like they want to try and figure out how to get the lights cut off, everyone I talk thinks I'm crazy. I think there crazy for wanting daytime running lights, I hate the way they look. This doesn't work for the dealer?
  8. The tires are directional so they'd have to be dismounted and remounted on the respective wheels. I figure that's probably worse than not rotating at all. And of course they're going to charge you for that.
  9. If there's no other damage the bumper cover can be replaced.
  10. Yep. If you don't put in park before you shut down, than your acc is still on. That's the way some people get around having to hit the start button again to keep their radio playing. However, you gotta remember to shut down before leaving the car. I've only done it a couple times, by accident and caught it right away, but I can see where one could forget.
  11. I can see where that would be easy to do. I shut mine off last night and noticed the radio was still on. I had forgot to put it in park.
  12. I don't know of any other colors available with X package, but you could most of the same equipment by ordering the sport pacakage. Of course it's more money. HID is still not standard but it can be ordered as a stand alone option rather than in a package as it was before. Going to the sport package would also get you HID AFS headlights. If you do get HID as an option they are all AFS.
  13. You can buy your own filters at some place like http://www.irontoad.com/ and change the A/C filter yourself and the engine air filter when needed. Take your oil filter to a local garage that does oil changes. There are lots of independents that will do this. I pay about $28 to a locally owned oil change place. Tires can't be rotated. That leaves a few other inspections which would probably be good to have Lexus do, but cost much less with you taking care of the rest of it. See also: Price Of Oil Change By The Dealer http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=32378 Thank you for your advices... I just noticed you are in Los Angeles. I've heard good reports on service and prices at Luxury MotorWorks http://www.luxurymotorworks.com/ 227 West Chestnut Ave Monrovia, CA 91016.

  15. People are reporting buying new IS350 for $1000 to $1500 over invoice. I think if you go to edmunds.com and figure the fair market value for your area, you should get pretty close to what you can buy the car for.
  16. I see my nearest Les Schwab store is 1442 miles away. They must be all out west.
  17. The tank average mileage usually reads on the low side as well. I find it to be around 0.5 MPG or so lower than what I get by actual measure at fill up. And yes, most cars have around 2 gallons left when the low fuel light comes on. The miles to go reading is a safe side estimate.

  19. As well as that car has been selling, I'd say it's a good deal.
  20. It't been mentioned that there's a black box under the steering column where the TPS can be unplugged. I haven't confirmed this nor have I found anyone to tell me more about it, but supposedly there is a way.
  21. If your rear leveling arm looks like the one in the picture in this thread, then it's most likely not the problem. You can see this easily by looking up from behind the left rear wheel. You don't even need to jack up the car. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=20049...dlight+leveling Sensors do go bad from getting wet and corroding. I've been hearing of this problem from owners with between 50,000 and 100,000 miles.
  22. Thanks, but no thanks. We worked on some wheel/tires like that back in the 80's. Ours looked like a sombrero with a strip of rubber tread on the edge. We actually had guys driving around with them on their cars. The technology ended up being used inside regular tires for application on armored VIP limos.
