  1. Lip spoiler here. (painted) http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=2038
  2. The gear you select with the paddles is the highest gear it will shift to. I tried it today with my IS350 at WOT and in 2 and with 3 selected it didn't shift until redline. Same for the 3 - 4 shift. I think the figure if you are at WOT you want maximum acceleration, thus pegging out the tach before shifting. If you back out of the throttle just a little tiny bit, it will upshift. And yes it will downshift. It's trying to be "idiot proof". Like if you got stuck in a situation in 4th gear at say 10 mph, and had to take off fast, you would be in sad shape stuck in 4th with hardly any power. That's my thinking on it, and that's the way the IS300 was for 5 model years. It's not a true manual/auto shift. In most ways that's good. Some may find situations where they don't like it, but I always say that if you are doing spirited driving on a crooked road and find that the car is downshifting, then maybe you should have already shifted it in the first place.
  3. Do you think I should talk to the dealer i bought the car from first, or would that not help? Most dealers don't have a body shop but they might recommend one that would do quality work.
  4. What's WOT? General question to everyon: Can't the redline be moved, just like the redline on the spedometer can be moved? I'm wondering if that's the problem for yomny...... Wide Open Throttle. The redline is supposed to be the maximum RPM that you should ever run your motor. It's permanently marked on the tachometer. The car has a built in system that will kill the engine if you exceed redline. Our IS have a moveable lighted circle that can be adjusted to come on at any RPM. Some people set that to light up at the RPM they want to shift at. I'm not sure what's happening with Yommy, and I haven't tried to duplicate that as yet. I usually let the car upshift automatically, and sometimes use the paddles for downshifting.
  5. That's right. Sometimes I can see a pattern in the rear windows of vans and SUV's when I'm following them on the road.
  6. I don't have much to add to this post, I just thought it was funny that the forum program bleeped you when you switched the F and the T in "shift" Yeah, up*BLEEP*f is kinda funny.
  7. Take it to a body shop and get an estimate. It's possible the dent can be pushed out without major work. There are also "paintless dent repair" peope who might be able to do that. Just getting started on the process of getting it fixed shold make you feel a little better.

  9. Lots of people want the style, luxury and sportyness and don't feel the need for the extra power. Lexus predicted sales of 250 would be higher than 350 and according to the figures they were correct. And no, a Camry would not be a proper substitute for a IS250 for many reasons.
  10. Yeah, extreme speed makes accidents worse. That's why autobahn has clean-up crews at the ready to scrape em off the road and not jam up traffic for so long.
  11. Hadn't heard of that before.
  12. Perhaps that proposal should be done the othe way round. :D
  13. I hope this doesn't turn out like the guy that worked at out plant. He and his wife both worked the same shift and she always drove. One day she worked overtime so she gave him the car keys so he could go home. About an hour later he ended up back at the plant. He had gotten lost trying to find his way home.
  14. How's the MAF?
  15. Could the whole thing be a spoof?
  16. Without knowing your preferences, your family situation, what other cars you may have, etc, an intelligent advice cannot be given.
  17. Of course you would, Bartkat!!! But when I've got an impatient husband who doesn't like to wait, it gets irritating!! Or maybe it's my husband who's irritating!!! :P Tell him go just realax, cool it. Or do like I do when I'm out with a chick and walk around, open the door, let them get in and close the door. No waiting. :D :D
  18. I don't think I want anybody taking my dash apart, unless it's something really necessary like fixing the A/C or Radio, etc. I did the disassmble of the console on the IS300 and I can see where there are way too many opportunities to screw up on those kinds of jobs.
  19. Right. The car will only shift to the highest gear you have selected. You can manually shift all the way from first through sixth on the upshifts. The default going from D to S is 4, but if you flip the upshift paddle twice you will go to 6.
  20. I find it pretty easy to open my door and just reach down and push the "unlock" button and then get in.
  21. IS350 oil change is easy. The filter is right under the front. Yes there's a panel, but the access is very easy. Once the panel is off there is absolutely nothing in the way. It takes 6.6 quarts and the filters are a little over $4 from Irontoad. I don't know about lexus but many dealers now have an oil change lane, or keep a bay open just for oil changes. They can do the job in 15 minutes tops. I think most know that if they want the oil change business they need to be set up to do it that way. Car owners should also know that it's not rocket surgery.
  22. Well, here I was thinking yesterday, when I read your post, that I hadn't heard it in a while, as well. Until I pulled my car out of the garage this morning and was letting it idle a little bit to warm up, then POP!! lol..... It's really strange and doesn't happen often enough to try to find it. :(
  23. I don't often drive really fast, but sometimes I drive sorta half fast.
