  1. I betcha there's a disclaimer on their packaging somewhere.
  2. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry216337
  3. I've never heard of anyone having one or buying one. However, the cost is probably pretty high and I don't see where anyone would use one more than once or twice.
  4. Congrats. When you get back, have a look around the forum. Most of your nav answers are probably in some of our threads. I think you can adjust the mic sensitivity on the voice rec part.
  5. Salesmen will also tell you the moon is made of green cheese. It's advisable to follow the instructions in the owner's manual. It's hard to go wrong that way.
  6. Dark chrome was standard on some colors in '02. My IBP had them. I thought they came on dark colors so your GGP should have them. Here's a discussion with some pics. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=30065...ome+tail+colors
  7. Mine beeps if I open the door with the start button in the on or acc status.
  8. If you take the steel key out of the remote and take it with you then you'll have it just in case. Also you would have locked the glove box and trunk remote as in the above post.
  9. I think the VDIM makes it even safer than cars without stability control.
  10. CU ratings are based on actual survey reports from owners of the cars being rated. The frequency of repair records are subdivided into various categories. The data base is probably the largest "private" one available. I believe they are as correct and unbiased as you will find. Of course, not every car in a group has every problem, and some cars may be totally trouble free, but the averages for a given car make and model are a real indication of the likelyhood of problems. If you go back and look at certain car models that show problems, you'll also probably find that TSB's were issued at some point. TSB would be an indication that the data are correct. JD Powers is also mentioned. They survey individual owners for initial ownership experience, pretty much the car as delivered and problems within the first 90 days, I think. I don't think there's any bias in their data either. In the end, you get what you get, but the ratings can tell you the odds as to whether your car will be a problem or not.
  11. I think it will keep running til someone shuts it off or it runs out of gas.
  12. I've used nothing but touchless car wash for several years now. No brushes, I drive it in and out, no problems. Of course, I'll do my own waxing, wheel cleaning etc. I thought brush type car washes were a thing of the past.
  13. Carbon buildup can cause pre-ignition knock.
  14. Soon as you can, sit in the car with the owner's manual and go through all the controls and procedures so you know what they are and how to use them. It's surprising how many people will as questions about stuff that they would have learned just by doing that. The break-in process is in there too. You can't go wrong by doing what the manual tells you.
  15. I don't know why you'd want to do that. Headlights going off is a convenience feature to keep you from leaving them on and going away and the battery running down. Use the auto setting or just turn them off. The dealer can change the lights off delay for you via the personalized settings. The options should be in your owner manual.
  16. Joe Z intake. Best bang for the buck. No MAF relocation, no CEL. http://my.is/store/customer/product.php?pr...;cat=&page=
  17. On 07 I think you can get HID headlights as a single option. Also there is a button to turn off some of the VDIM functions. That's about all the differences I know of.
  18. There is a rocker switch marked ect power. Turn the switch off to turn off ect. The light will go out. It's just a electronic device that makes your throttle a little more sensitive and the trans shifts a little crisper for better performance. ECT=Elctronic Controlled Transmission Power = power mode.
  19. Since most aftermarket exhausts make more noise than power, and if you want a quiet car, I see no reason to change from stock. Aftermarket exhaust can be other problems too, like leaks, hangers, fitment, etc. Sooner or later there will be problems. Unless you are planning to race and are trying to squeeze out all the power you can, you'd be better off keeping the money or spending on something else.
  20. There won't be any damage to the system. If you know how to turn off the warning, you should be good.
  21. I'm not even sure if the 2nd Gen IS black has a clear coat. Many previous blacks did not.
  22. I've had my IS 350 for a little over a year and I've never heard any unusual sounds on starting the engine.
