  3. It's pretty easy to bend or break a wheel, since they are alloy, and the tires are low profile. I've seen some stock wheels on Ebay and on some message boards for sale at good prices. Lots of people sell the stock ones when they buy custom wheels. I've also heard of people having throw out bearing noise on manual trans IS300's. There's a TSB on 2003 models but none on 2004 yet. At 21K miles, you need to start having the dealership try to fix those problems. Did you tell them about those when you asked about the wheel?

  10. Yeah, I'd go with OEM pads. If you know someone who is a mechanic, he can get a deal on them from the Toyota dealer.
  11. If the mechanic is on flat rate, and if the book calls for 2 hours, then that's what he gets paid, even if he's done in 10 minutes. Some Lexus cars were recalled for a ECU reflash, but that should be covered at no cost to the customer. Did they put a sticker under the hood with a TSB number, etc for that?   12. Here's the simple method for adjusing vertical aim of HID lights. 1. Park on a flat level surface and measure the distance from the ground to the center of your headlight (bulb). 2. Make horizontal lines with a magic marker on a garage door or a light colored wall, at the same height from the groun/floor, that you measured in 1. 3. Now draw another line parallel to and 0.8" (20 mm) below the first line. 4. Park the car on a level surface so it is pointing squarely at the wall that you marked and with the headlights 10 feet from the wall. 5. Start the engine, make sure the self leveling cycles, then sitting in the drivers seat see where the lights hit the wall in relation to the lines. 5. Adjust the vertical aim of each light so that the bottom of the light pattern (cutoff) is at the level of the lower line that you marked in 3. If you don't have a wall to mark, you can mark the same distances on a big piece of white cardboard and stand it up 10 feet in front of the lights and adjust to that.
  13. I would suggest having those tires pulled down, rims checked and replace the valves. It's possible the rim seating surfaces are dirty or rusty and/or the valves are leaking. You really shouldn't lose that much air in that short of a time. Also you need to check and air up tires as the weather gets cooler. Pressure can go up or down, depending on ambient temperature.
  14. Cupping is not uaually the tire mfg's. fault. It truly is a suspension/alingment problem. Adjustments to tirea (warranty wise) ar going to be on a pro-rated treadwear basis, even at that. Also tires should be rotated and balanced every 5000 miles. Check your tire pressures often, and watch closely for signs of unusual wear. I get alignment checked every 10,000 miles just as a preventive measure. It doesn't cost that much in the long run. If you aren't driving off road or on snow a lot, I'd suggest getting a set of all weather "touring'" tires. You'll get a much better ride, handling, and much quieter. A good, privately owned tire shop will give you good prices, and take care of your tire mantenance needs quite well, compared to the car dealer or a big chain tire shop.

  16. I don't think there is a true CAI for the IS300. There are various intakes on the market. You gotta make sure the filter has a "heat shield" with it or turbulence from the cooling fans will caus stalling at idle and low speeds. Some intakes will give a CEL because the MAF gets a different reading. Sometimes you can cure that via a ECU reset. The best bang for the buck is a JoeZ intake tube with a TRD replacement filter. Get's you about 8 HP. Total cost about $175 and the TRD is a Toyota part. For the most power, the SRT intake with piggyback ECU is tops. But with that one, you have to make some solder connections into your stock ECU, and the inakes cost around $500. http://www.swiftracing.com/ PS. You should already be running premium fuel in your IS300.
  17. Go for it. I dunno about the V-8's but my IS300 comes on prety strong above 80 mPH.
  18. You could save even more by skipping oil changes, filters, and other routine mantenance. When the tires go bald, don't change them either. No need to do any of that since you don't own the car.
