  1. not exactly, the poor engine was sucking in unfiltered air, notice how there is no gasket aroun the filter in the pic? thats because the gasket that was on it turned to dust when i touched it. i literally had to vaccuum it out of the bottom of the airbox. so it was sucking in dirty air for mrobably the last 100,000 miles, im amazed it still runs as good as it does. the motor/trans has NEVER told me no when i tell it to do something. and thats the way i like it. :D 99lsguy, im not sure how it is on an LS but on an es, you dont have to remove any vaccuum hoses to get to the intake, only the big rubber intake hose. ← Well then, at some point in its life there had to be a high pressure drop across the filter. God only knows what all happened over that period of time. I do hope it's all better now. ← been 197 mile snow, just not quite to a half a tank yet...so far so good.:whistles: :D ← Good deal.

  5. Got coolant r in the oil or oil in the collant? That would be the head gasket. That would also be the source of the white smoke.

  7. That's called nibbling, tending to follow road imperfections. Some tires are worse than others. Some ulltra high performance tres will be worse than standard tires. When you went to 20" wheels, your sidewalls got stiffer, and that's also going to lead to more nibbling. You've also probably increased unsprung weight with those monster tires, and that's going to affect handling as well.

  13. $50 to $100 each. I've noticed that the "discount" parts stores around here are starting to carry them. Bulbs should last a long time though, since there is no filament to burn out.
  14. Unburned fuel, (raw gas) should show up as black smoke out the tailpipe.
  15. Personally, I'd put the injector cleaner in the tank reset the ECU, and then take the car out an run the heck out of it for a couple of hundred miles. Sometimes you just got to blow the soot out of em.
  16. i can almost garuntee that you have the same problem as me, a short in the ebrake handle sensor. the next time the light is on, pull the handle up (not quite to thew first click) and drop it back down, ill bet it goes out. ← That's probably correct, or the switch and lever aren't making phsycal contact.
  17. I love the sounds and smells of a trans scattering all over the track. If I can't get better ET's, I hear that mothballs in the gas tank makes it go faster. Seriously though, with my Firebird, I just brake torque until the tires start to spin and then back off just a little. You kinda have to adjust for track conditions at the line.
  18. anyone do any custom turbo set up's? do you know of any places to get it done? i also want to revert back to one of my original questions, has anyone been able to do a manual transmission swap? or is it just not possible ← If you're going turbo, the best bet is to use a tuner close to where you live. Even though some kits are shippable, there's lots of things that need to be done right to make it work. There are several good units available, but it all depends on where you live as to going straight to the source for install and tuning. As for the SRT intake, it works well, if you are confident in splicing and soldering wires into your ECU.

  21. The only thing the G35 has over the IS is engine power. Build quality, materials quality, etc are inferior according to owners reports that I've read.

  23. HID bulbs shift towards blue with age, so your new ones might actually be more yellow than the used ones on your previous vehicle. A bulb that starts at around 4200K may go up to 4800 to 5000K over time.
