  1. Hi Stephen, You might try Sewell Lexus in Dallas, Texas. Go to Sewellparts.com. When you register, identify your self as a member of this club. This will give you a discount should they have the part. Another place to try are online salvage/parts yards that take cars no longer in service and remove all of the good parts still ready for more service. Welcome to the LOC Paul
  2. As with the use of the spindle grill in 2013, and the shake-ups with the IS and GS, I think Lexus is trying to reposition parts of it's brand to be more attractive to the younger market, who want fast cars that can take on most BMW's. And just happen to have some money layong around!! Paul
  3. FYI, This Lexus dealer in Dallas offers a good discount to LOC members. Just identify yourself as a member of the Lexus Owners Club when you log on. I needed a remote FOB. Local dealer wanted $320. Sewell had it for $161. Paul http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/78263-help-in-locating-part-rear-control-arm-bushing-or-not/?view=getnewpost
  4. Seperation anxiety, with "just not good enough" feelings". What kind of dreams is the car having?
  5. Hi Mec and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I'm sorry it took so long for someone to answer your post but it's been pretty busy around here. First. I owned a 2010 ES350 so I know the model your looking at fairly well. I just traded for another Lexus so you can tell I'm a happy camper. The car has pretty low miles for being in service 6 years. It is only 17,000 miles per year. You didn't provide a description/list of accessories or options which can make the car worth substanialy more. Therefore, I based the pricing on an average equiped model. To me, the glaring thing that sticks out is the transmission replacement. At only 70K miles, why did they replace the entire transmision? Was there more to that accident than meets the eye. The only way I would buy this car is if it was sold to me as a "Certified Pre-Owned" Car, wich includes a warranty and a 102 point check-up and repair before you buy it. If I remember correctly, the warranty is 40,000 miles or 4 years. Here are some sample prices for this car as gotten from NADA> Base - $ 12,975 Average Condition - $ 14,850 Very Clean - $ 18,050 To check prices for your self, go to NADA, (National Automoble Dealers Association.) It's free. Another good site is Kelley's Blue Book. Both new and used prices. You can enter KBB. Lets us know how things turn out Paul
  6. As you delve into the Lexus litureature, you'l find that the proper viscosity of oil to use can vary by the choice of what your dealer thinks best suits your area/region, the various speeds incountered, i.e. lots of freeway driving or rural driving. Also climate.....range of teperature from one season to the next. I know their are dealers who insist on Dino oil/synth blend for older Lexus, and full synthetic for 2013's. IMO, You will never find anything better to increase the bottom line of your MPG , than your right foot. Control the rate of acceleration, the number of people you just HAVE to pass, the kind of stops where you almost put your RX in a "head Stand". There's also the ability to leave 10 minute early so your not having to blow out 75 - 80 mph in order to get to your destination on time. Sorry if this sounds like a "Dad" lecture. We just added a 2013 RX350 so we'll have a chance to put our money where our mouth is. Paul
  7. Hey Mike! I just had a thought that might solve your problem. I know, I'm only allowed one thought a day so I hope this will help otherwise the little men in the white coats come to take me home....LOL You may have already heard or thought about this, but it uses your "Smart Phone" and a application that allows the owner to control the functions of the remote starter. In terms of effective distance, if you can get dial tone, you can start your car. Wether your Lexus is in California and your in Miami. Something it can offer that a usual remote start can't offer is the lock out app. Say your in Florida, but one of your family or other has your car in Georgia and they accidentally lock the keys in the car. They just call you, you call the car and touch the correct key on the pad and PRESTO, the car is unlocked. Your flying home? Call the car from the plane and have it nice and cool when you get in. The stuff under the hood runs about $450, and the app fee is $50 a year. My wife is having the system installed on her new RX and we'll be reporting back on our adventures as we get some miles on it. Check with your Lexus dealer or a good Auto Stereo installment shop. Paul
  8. Hi Mike and welcome to the Club. I'm just in the process of closing on our first RX350 - 2013, so I'm not totaly up to speed on the electronics. But I do have a 2013 ES350, and before that an 2010 ES, and a 2005 ES. All have had remote start. On my 2013, If it is running do to my starting the car remotely, when I open the drivers door, yes, it will shut off. This is so someone can't jump in your car and take off with it. Now you can argue that is inconvienant or clumsy, but for me, its pretty straight forward and bullet proof, especially since the car uses a proximity locking/unlocking and security field. As for the active distance, thats just plain nuts. The only time I've heard of anything close to that poor of function, was when the ariel was not placed corretly. Or, The factory intalled remote starter is famous for very short effective distance. Three brands that I have used or can recommend are, Python, Viper, and Clifford. Let us know how things turn out. Paul
  9. Is it just me, or do the new GM's SUV's look just like the the old ones they just replaced??
  10. I do think the use of color and the layout of the interior is pretty cool.
  11. In case you haven't seen the new Lexus LF - NX here are some new photos. IMO, it is by far and away the UGLIEST front end treatment I've ever seen. It looks like your going to be swallowed by a huge whale!!! Whats your take..? http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lexus-lf-nx-concept-frankfurt-2013/#photo-995886/
  12. Over all, it sounds like Lexus hit a long, perfect homer with this one. I like seeing "Big L" becoming more aggresive in style and performance for the customers who like those products. I've been wondering if they will come out with a side strip of chrome for the ES next year or if they'll hold off on that for a few years. Paul
  13. I am really sorry to hear about all of your loss's and suffering. Not meaning to be disrespecful, but it seems like your family has been visited by one of those good old fashioned "Old Testament" plagues and pestilence. Heal well Paul
  14. I agree. The information provided is not "inadequate" for diagnosing the problem.( I just had to Jim.)
  15. I would suggest you go to Tire Rack.com and look up all the information you need. They rate tires by tire manf. and car maker/model and give a write up on the pros and cons as well as prices. PJ
  16. Before poking around using the old "wet finger test", why not try calling your dealer and tell them what you just explained. Most dealers are pretty nice folks and might be able to at least give you a starting point. Paul
  17. I really don't know the outright answer to your question. The iPod logo means that the system is designed to worke best with Apple I series products. For your other issues's I would suggest going to Lexus.com and then go to customer care/assiatance, and choose to talk with a rep directly. Also tell them that your delear has been unresponsive. Please com back and let us know what you find out. Paul
  18. Hi kevinmlexus and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Some threads back I posted a thread asking just how do you specify what things make a automobile a "womens" car versus a "mans" car. Is paint color Is it style of wheels Shape of body...........Please list your opinion of what features a car has to have to make it a womens car/??????? In other words, the whole argument just dosen't hold water.
  19. Hi Lex and, from where I'm sitting it's 8:40 am, and already 84'. It's been this way for about a week, with more to come. LOL Not sure I get your posting. Are you saying that the dealer said in their survey that you would be contacted to discuss why you rated the car wash experience at less than average or "Not Satisfied? Or are you wondering about their attitude, response to your one dissatisfaction. Most dealers will give the customer a free car wash, and some times an additional "Rain Check" for future use. Please do come back and tell us how things turned out!! Paul p.s. Just an aside; My dealer here has two sons who both work in the dealership. When each would graduate from college, The came back to the dealership to work. Usualy, in these family run business the oldest sibling starts in the position of next in line after Daddy retires. They do/did it diferantely. Both sons started mowing the lawns for all of the brands lots,(that would be Cadilliac, Jaguar, Infinity, Volvo, Range Rover,Mini, and, plus all pre-Owned. Next they moved to the car wash for a year. Next, Moving, detailing cars ready for the lots and showroom. Another year of that. Then Service Advisor. After that one is now doing new and Pre-Owned cars financing, and the other brother is trying a stint at managing Pre-Owned sales, supervised buy the executives above them. I didn't mean to get off on a tanget here, but each dealer does have some wiggle room in how they manage the Lexus line. So in some cases you can get different results. The survey the dealer sends out does go to the Lexus office as well so all parties are seeing an on going picture of how that dealers customers satisfaction ratings are doing.
  20. The answer is probably yes. It's a pretty exspensive job to take the sensors from one auto and put them on another set of rims. Your best course of action, in my opinion, is to put new ones on your new rims, that won't be cheap either. To possibly save some money on the parts, try Sewell Lexus in Dallas Texas. Now that your a member, Sewell offers an excellent discount to Lexus Owners Club members. Go to Sewellparts.com. When you register, indicate your a member of this club, LOC, and go ahead with your shoping. If you need help you can call them. Paul
  21. Huh?? Or, you could use the sensitivity adjustment control for the same effect.
  22. This area is out of my area of knowlegde, but I will throw out one idea. I am not familiar with the LX/AC system. However, on other Lexus products there are a couple of dampers, (flapers) that sit up against the cabin firewall and control the mixture and type of air (cold & hot) coming into the cabin based on the settings you program on the dash. I have seen members post about these dampers becoming stuck or loosing the power from the source that controls them. Unfortunately, I can't remember if the're electric or air powered. If they are not stuck the sevo's that move the dampers back and forth maybe bad. It seems obvious that they had unhooked the negative battery line thus erasing all your electronics settings. And at the same time this problem happens. I would suggest pressing them further for an explanation. Paul
  23. Hi Mike. Have you been able to make any progress on repairing your ML sub-woofer? Paul
  24. Hi Bruce, You will only know if your on the right track until you apply the new adhesive. The two most important things are, that it sticks well, but more importantly, that the adhesive is transparant enough to allow the sensor to pick up any rain or moisture on the windshield. If you are still having problems, I would try a professioal auto glass store or better, your Lexus dealer. Come back and let us know how things turn out. Paul
