  1. I feel your pain.... When it is hot and the Lexus has been in the parking lot for a while, I use my remote start to start the car as I'm finishing up my shopping. Then, when I get into the car it is so cool. I really have become a wimp. Paul
  2. Your best bet Joey is to go to the top of the page, right hand side, and do a search about your questions. If we don't have the answer here, you might try Tire Rack. Paul
  3. Hey Becki, Was the movie on Netflix streaming or did you have to order a DVD. The movie chase scene that really made the genre a hollywood staple was of course Bullit with Steve Mcqueen.(spelling?) IMO it will always be a classic. Paul
  4. Hi Rich D and welcome. As a rule, extended warranties mostly benefit the dealer. They are a high profit item and many people seem to misunderstand they don't need it. Why. You just bought a brand new LS460. It has a bumper to bumper warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles. During that time, Lexu,s with the 2013 models, is recommending that you change the oil only once a year. I don't think you would need an extended warranty to cover that. At the end of 4 years you still have protection on the drive train. The drive train is covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. With this length of no cost coverage that comes with the car, and the quailty of the beautiful LS It's my opinion to keep the $ 2, to $3,000 in your pocket and enjoy your great new car.
  5. Take a look back and put up your reasons!! Be funny, be serious, offer an opinion. Why did you come to the LOC?
  6. Your 2008 should be equiped for SAT operation. Lexus uses XM signal not Sirius. Simply call XM while your in the car, the number is available on-line. They will direct you to tune your radio to either the lower farthets point,001, or the highest point. I can't remember which. This gives you the I.D. number for your radio. They will then go through a few steps to activate the radio. Be prepaired to decide up front how much you want to spend per month. Their very persusive. Paul
  7. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club Peter. I just went over and looked at the Kelley Blue Book to find the current value of a 2005, GX with 100,000 miles. The current value for a standard equiped GX470 is $16,883. This is the retail value, not the trade in value. It also reflects the value of a car in what is judged to be "Very Good" condition. If it is just "good" condition it will be worth less. I can't say wether this is a good buy or not. That's up to you. But, a couple of things. You say all taxes are included. I don't know about Ontario but that price with taxes included would be worth a lot here in Iowa. Mileage of 103000 is not much to worry about. Many Lexus run well up to near 200,000. As with any well enginered luxury car, specific, regular maintenance are always important. The GX has a great engine. No one can tell you how much it cost to maintain. It all depends on how you drive, how many miles, climate, road dust, highway miles versus city, etc. You'll want to read your owners manual front to back and you'll find the specs, for the GX maintenance. You'll want to talk with your dealer about which oil you want to use. Or, go to the top of the page to the right and do a search about oil types for your GX. Enjoy! Paul
  8. This is from a search of the the data base. It should give you a lot of information. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/63588-2355017-tires-awesome/
  9. Hi Adeola. I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer to your problem. But I do want to clarify a few things for others that are going to be reading your post. What was the reason for replacing your battery? Had the battery been fully run down, discharged, before you took the cables off? What do you mean by saying, "I have been away to reset my windows and moonroof". Have you tried re-inserting the navigation DVD? Hopefully other members who are familiar with your model system will chime in here and give you some answers Paul.
  10. I'm sorry that I forgot to answer your question regarding a search specific for an IS. Go to the top of the page on the right hand side. You will see the white search string box. Simply enter your criteria, select the search engine you want and go. You can also click on "Advance" search and customize you search about as finite as it gets. Let us now how things are going. Paul
  11. Hi Jennifer and welcome to the LOC. Unfortunately, Jim is right. There is not a simple "plug and play" way to add the features you want. For example, the remote start. You can order a Lexus with remote start from the factory. It's main draw back is it runs the engine for only 8-10 minutes.and has a very limited range for recieving the start signal. If you live in a climate where it gets down to near zero during winter, 10 minutes won't even begin to warm the cabin. If the Lexus does not come with OEM remote start you'll have to install an aftermarket. When I took delivery of my 2013 ES I had the dealer put an aftermarket RES on with a 20 minute run time. It's range is 1,000 ft. My ES has the HID with LED DRL's. You can not just swap out the assembly on a like-for-like basis. Unfortunately, the same is true for the memory seats. I'm suprised to hear that your IS didn't come with them. You say you just took delivery of you new IS. Have you gone back to your dealer and talked with them about doing a straight across trade for another Lexus that has what you want. There is nothing quite as disapointing as buyers remorse. You've got nothing to lose and they maybe in the mood to move their 2012 inventory. Paul
  12. Below is a link to a company called United Radio in Srycuse, New York. They specialize in car audio repair and car electronics such as navigation systems. Other members have had good experiences with them. I would suggest that you could call them and explain your situation and see if they might have a better answer than you've gotten so far. Should you chose to do so, come back here and let us know what you find out. Paul http://unitedradio.com/automotive/
  13. This has always been the age old question." Is the stock OEM system good enough?, or," if I replace some of the speakers with top quality after market ones will it really give me the range and distortion free sound I want? Then to it's the "what about adding an amp for a sub to fill out the bottom" that most Lexus have never really been good at.. The Mark Leninson systems has evolved over the years to be a truly top of the line in car sound system. That being said, almost all auiophiles find it lacking in one way or another. Is this a suprise? Heck no. First, if your a true audiopfile your never really happy with any thing audio. Thats what makes it fun. Tweaking, tuning, constantly reading. The absolute worse environment to try and build a true audiophile standards system in is a car. OK. maybe one worse. A submarine. I have an 2013 ES350 with a Kicker Sub-Station that has been in my 2005 ES, My 2010 ES, and now my 2013 ES. It is indestructalbe. I run it off a 250w Alpine in the trunk. The improved OEM speakers this year have made it a great system for my taste. The major probem with trying to change the ML system is it's incredibly complex network of crossovers. Trying to replace one or two speakers such as the front doors, leads to throwing the balance of network off. The other problem is that it is virtualy impossible to get a hold of a service manual or schmatic for their products. Even the Lexus dealers don't repair them. It's all unplug old part, plug in new part. I bought a DVD on ebay for a Mar Levinson Repair just for fun. It was for 2004. Below is a link to United Radio in New York. To my knowledge, they are one of the few if not the only place in the US that has the ability to work on ML systems. Other members have used them and have been pleased with their service. Look them up for a phone number and see if they will give you advice as well as some oarts you might need like wiring harness, Come back here and let us know how things are going. 14. In my first post about this topic I talked about the very same thing. Taking delivery of my 2013 ES350 with Bridgstones and after a few drives trading them with the dealer for Michlen Primacy's. It's been six months since then and I love the ride. It is as good as my 2010 ES was. And the increased handling is just icing on the cake! Paul
  15. Your post today Lex-Sv made me think about the reviews and blogs last fall when the new 2013 ES50's came out. If you recall it was the first unvieling of the new front end styling. Talk about a differance of opinions. One writer couldn't say enough good things about the car, while another saw it as an act of treason!! LOL Always good to see you Becki and St posting.
  16. Hi Craig. Your mother is lucky she didn't have something worse come from the blowout. The freeway speeds could have easily made her lose control. Your recourse is two fold. First, the tires are covered by the manufacturer under what they call road hazard coverage. This protects you from things such as this, but pro rated for tread wear since purchase. Your second recourse is the IS250 bumper to bumper warranty. The dealer should replace the tire with a new one. However, in my experiance, no dealer is going to replace all four of you tires unless the manufacturer will cover the cost. Paul
  17. Hi James and welcome to the Club. I'm going to move your posting to the LS forum where you might have a better chance of getting some information. Paul
  18. Thanks a lot friend. That is good information to know. I'll save it.
  19. Hi Norm, Sounds like the manuals on e-bay are printed in gold leaf!. If your not able to find what you want on Google I'm not really sure what to tell you. Usually there is always a number of vendors who sell service manuals for about any thing. Try going to the top of the page and do a search for service/repair manuals rx350 2009. There is always someone looking for the same thing as you and you may find a thread with a link to a source. Paul
  20. Hi Donald. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I'm not sure what your wanting. Are you looking for a picture on how to adjust the cup holder? ....or video of the same. Two suggestions. Go to the top of the page and do a search of our data base for the information your looking for. The other alternative is a dealer that may be able to still get that part, or more likely, a salvage yard on line would probably have that part cheaper than a dealer. Let us know how you come out. Paul
  21. Lenore I had to read your thread twice just to make sure I was correct the first time around. A new car with no spare tire!!. Maybe I'm behind the times but that's a new one on me. I thought it was stupid when most of the non-luxury brands went to the "donut" sized spare but paying $500 for the privaledge of having a spare is just a farce. Do you know if it's a full sized spare? You bring up another good point. People will drop $25 - $30k on a new car with out any knowledge as to where it's made,(they assume it's made in one country or another), What the full details of the waranty are, what is an extended warranty and do they need it, what is the Blue Book on their trade, etc. And finally, what is the depreciation on the care their looking to buy over the last five years, or if there was a model change as many years as they can find.
  22. Unfortunatly, once again your way off course in your response to sw03ES. Your posting has provided information on a not to be known problem that is worthy of attention. The remainder of your posts are mostly rants on how bad Lexus is and how devious they are. Steve has posted over 13,000 times and has more knowledge in his little finger than I have in my whole body. However, he does not allow member to member bashing or tirades against anyone. None of us work for or have any relationship with Lexus. All of us have had issues with our Lexus from time to time and have gone to one of the forums for advice.
  23. If you don't know the amount of depreciation of the car your buying, you maybe looking at a major hit to the wallet. Also, do you know the current depreciation of your present car. It is amazing how many people do not figure depreciation when making a deal on theire new car. Read on and see if you can make up for lost money. http://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/1012/cars-that-depreciate-in-value-the-most.aspx?utm_campaign=inv-tbl-pf&utm_source=tbl&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=adg-na_adv-na_mtp-na_adc-con_adf-mix_ptp-cp_geo-na
  24. Bernard, Thanks for the excellent information. However, the LOC guidlines do not allow any promotion of sales for products, links to an outside site or source, or mention/advertisment of an unautorized product/service. Accordingly I will delete the last portion of you thread. Thanks again for posting the information.
  25. Just saw another write up yesterday putting the IS 350 against a BMW335 and MBc350, with overwhelming results in favor of the IS 350 over the MB and a slight tie/edge against the BMW. The experts are loving these IS editions.
