  1. Hey Lyle, Realy glad you were able to finally find an answer to your dilemma. I was just wondering about "resetting" your satelite band radio. When I was setting things up in my 2013 ES, I don't recall it being programed with any thing from the Lexus factory except the Welcome/Channel advertisment pre programed and the Sat. radio itself all ready activated. I'm wondering if you can call XM/Serius and see if they can re-initialize your radio for you and at the same time group all of your current presets to either of the ends of the Sat. bands. This may sound like a dumb idea and in fact may very well be one !!LOL But, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Paul
  2. Hi Denny, I read you loud and clear. Since 2005, I've owned three ES's including my current one, and a 2013 RX350. I have fallen in love with each of them and as others have said, if I was forced to part with one, would seriously consider jumping off the Lexus sign at my local dealers!! However, all this time, I have secretly "coveted" those of you with LS's. The smooth, "like riding on a cloud" suspension. The luxurious cabin filled with amenities and supple leather. The ML sound system and the V8 power. At the same time I also coveted the money you folks had/have to afford the current $85,000 it cost to have the pleasure of parking an LS in your driveway. If you are ever coming this way send me a note so I can watch you drive by and I can wave and do some more "coveting" !!!! LOL Paul
  3. Free is good! I think by far that is your best option. In the event of anything going wrong it's their doing and responsibility. It boogles the mind to learn that no one, even remotely, can answer this question. I'm glad it's not part of the braking system !! I'm including a link to a company in New York called "United Radio". They specialize in automotive sound system equipment repair. They are the only company I know of that works on Mark Levinson amplifiers. You might want to call them and ask your question and I know they would be happy to try and help. The times I have worked with them they have been very helpful. 4. Hi hahnt and welcome to the LOC. I've attached a link to a site that explains the process of working a warranty dispute. I found it along with other sites regarding problems with Lexus warranty issues. I have never been able to find a number for any administrative office other than the usual 800 customer service. I have had good luck insisting on working with the general manager of the dealership. They are the ones who are in constant contact with the Lexus regional office. For my search I used; "contact lexus regarding warranty dispute". http://www.autoguide.com/buyers-guide/warranty-denied-881.html Paul
  5. Hi Brian and welcome to the Club. Here is a link to the Lexus Corp. Customer Service number and numbers for other major departments. Stick with Jim's advice and I think you'll have a good shot at resolving your problem. Paul http://www.lexus.com/contact/index.html
  6. Hi Steve and welcome to the LOC. I run both my Lexus in ECO mode almost all the time. In your Owners Manual it describes the purpose of each mode. ECO is set for driving when frequent acceleration wil be required. I notice a differance in the transmission shift points in this mode. I have no imperical evidance but I do think it improves MPG a small amount. Sport mode resets both transmisson and steering. The steering is enhanced for more precise handling and works with the transmiission for greater acceleration response. Setting good for mountain roads. Paul
  7. Hi Tom and welcome to the Club. It never ceases to amaze me how much differance there can be between Lexus dealers. Having owned four Lexi, my dealer is on the mark every time. However, when you read some of the other post regarding experiances with other dealers around the country and Canada, you would think their Techs. were trained on "Erector Sets". I have noticed that the 2013 Rx350's have been getting a lot of complaints about mileage as well. We took delivery in October of this year and MPG has been less than wonderfull. Come back and let us know how things are going. Paul
  8. Hi Remmington and welcome to the LOC. I would be happy to answer your question but unfourtnately I can't afford the liability insurance for the incorrect B.S. I would come up with. I'm well know for having a large amount of mechanical information wich is better suited for a skate board. Seriously, Until someone else chimes in here I would suggest trying our search engine and it's thousands of postings. You may find several threads regarding your issue. Just go to the top of the page on the right side of the page. You will see a box where you can enter your search string. Have a good weekend. Paul
  9. Here is a new study out this week showing those car brands that were almost always to be owned by males. In fact, the majority of the brands showed a dominance of male ownership in the 80% and higher range. Tell us what you think about the automobiles chosen.....!! Paul http://autos.aol.com/gallery/most-male-dominated-car-brands/?icid=maing-grid7%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl22%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D424139#!slide=2122998
  10. The "reboot" would probably work, but it is not a very elegant solution. Even thou the three of us haven't been able to find an "Official fix, I've got to believe there is a simple software step in the Nav/Radio program instead of taking a hammer to the thing. As Jim said above, disconnecting the negative battery cable will wipe several driver presets, factory presets, and others beyond just adjusting the seat presets. Before going to the battery reboot, I would encourage you to touch base with Lexus first. Paul
  11. No. Very strange!! Try talking to XM Radio who provides those services through th Nav radio.
  12. Hi Lyle and welcome to the LOC. I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you. I went through the Navigation Owners Manual and I could'nt find anything about erasing a radio preset. My best suggestion is to call Lexus Customer Support at the number beloe. Please come back and let us know what you find out. Paul Phone1-800-255-3987 Lexus Customer Support
  13. I'm really testing my memory here guys, but wasn't there also a "ticking" problem with some of the 2006 - 2009 engines which they called "Piston Slap"? It too was apparent on first starting cold and seemed to gradualy go away as the engine warmed up. I have never seen any resolution printed for this problem, nor have I read on the site of anyone complaining about it for a very long time. Paul
  14. Offical Stats on best fuel efficent cars for 2013 as judged by the EPA. http://autos.aol.com/gallery/most-fuel-efficient-automakers/?icid=maing-grid7%257Chtmlws-main-bb%257Cdl25%257Csec1_lnk3%2526pLid%253D422879#!slide=2119026&kgal_next
  15. Thanks Bill for taking the time to write such an excellent posting! Great information. A point I think some of us forget in discussing MPG statistics, is that the EPA does the testing with the manufacturer and determines what the miles per gallon estimates will be for a particular make and model. In a way, I can see where this can be good. If left to the manufacturer they may claim some results that are only possible in near perfect conditions, and only on the first Tuesday of each month!..LOL Both the EPA and manufacturers, along with other automotive interest have established future mandates for fuel economy by the later part of this decade. With all of these points in mind, you will see the mpg figures increase as we go along. But as Bill pointed , todays internal combustion engines are even more complicated than my first Lexus, a 2005 ES. However, we come to a point where basic enginered technology reaches it's limit of being able to provide any more efficientcy. That brings the new technologies we all see and read about. Call me a fool, but as long as I am getting resonable gas mileage I don't worry about wether it's somewhat over or under. What I do worry about is if I will be willing to adapt to the new products after a life time love affair with the power of gasoline!!. Paul
  16. Thank you for the holiday well wishes Becki, and a wonderful Christmas to you and yours as well! "Lexie" looks great and ready for the trip "through the woods to grandmother's house". Paul
  17. I'm begining to think your pulling our legs here. With each of your postings there's another problem, and then another. LOL I admire people such as your self who are able to repair their own cars and other technical products. Howerever, there comes a point where all the knowledge you can muster cannot over come the fact that your just throwing good money into a bottomless pit. Given the money you have already gone through in trying to resolve your many problems, and with 226,000 miles of wear on the car,it seems pretty obvious that this trend is not going to continue getting better. Since I'm not a big DIY'er, I would strongly suggest upgrading your present car to a Lexus with lower miles and a set of good service records. Given the $1000.00 you gave the dealer, the "cats" to be replaced, the long list of crtical parts that do now or will need to be replaced, and the cost of your time and labor as well as any wages you may end up needing to pay when you can't do it by yourself. You could easily spend enough that could be used instesd for an excellent down payment on a newer, lower mileager Lexus. Landar has given you some good advice. I would suggest taking some time to run the numbers and see what you think. Paul
  18. There is no such thing as a coincidance in your story. It either works or it doesn't. To suggest it might be the battery in your FOB seems screwy to me. I would follow Jim's suggestions to the letter. Good Luck. Paul
  19. It does make sense, For awhile during the first part of the year and last year, there seemed to be several reports of jammed CD's. Lets pass this information on if more complaints come in. Thanks Dave. Paul
  20. Ditto!! Your going to start chasing your tail, spending more than the old girl is worth.
  21. I'm with Landar. With 226,000 miles on it, flusing the engine could give you more problems then you ever thought possible. Loss of compression, crank shaft and connecting rod bearings, etc. Unless over the life of the engine enough maintenance has been done to keep everything nice and tight. New plugs when time is right, New rings, water pump. Have you thought about wether the transmission has ever been flushed. It's not that you can't do these things, but a well informed maintenance record can help. PJ
  22. OK. Hopefully we will get somebody to chime in here who has some answers.
  23. Gender doesn't matter. If we can accomplish a 1 or 2 miss rate, we are still ahead of most citizens!!LOL
  24. Hi Jim, You don't need to look at yours or anyones owners manual. Your car should ALWAYS be returned to you exactly as it was when you droped it off. The only exception should be the work you approved the dealer to do, and a clean car if your Lexus dealer wash's your car when their done I would strongly encourage you to take the LS back and tell the service advisor the condition of the LS is not acceptable. I can't imagine a dealer wanting a person such as yourself going around town in the months ahead telling all their friends about the lousy Lexus dealer. Come back and let us know how it went. Paul
