Includes the LFA and a hint if the LFA pricing that Lexus maybe reducing the price of this incrdible machine. Come back here after visiting the site and give us your feedback. 2. Volvo plans on offering a new "Self Parking" feature in 2014. This is not the assisted parking feature, this feature parks the car in the parking lot, by it self, while your inside shoping. Watch the video. It's pretty amazing. But, what if some other guy trys to pull into the same spot? Will the car "see" it and avoid a collision? What about pedestrians walking in the parking lot? What if the autonimous parking car dings another car while parking? Who pays for the ding? Watch and give us your feedback. http://www.autoblog.com/2013/06/20/volvo-demos-autonomous-self-parking-car-concept/#continued
  3. Very cool ! Looks like life is good in Tennessee.
  4. Hello Rami. Welcome to the LOC. Below, I've posted a link to a string of threads regarding changing transmissin fluid for your 2008. Let us know if this doesn't answer all your questions. Paul http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/59422-flushing-an-08-es350-sealed-transmission/
  5. Hi Max and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I'll try to give you some feedback on your situation, but with the caveat that this is not an area of expertise for me. I have placed a link below from a search of the Clubs data base from postings regarding fuseable links. You can learn a lot more by doing a further search of your topic. First of all, it is possible for a battery to show good at one point and low charge at another. It depends on where the testing points are placed. As you search the data base you will find the old pros tell you there is nothing such as a too clean battery terminal. If the test contacts are on the battery post directly, you should get a good read. The cable connecters can always have even a little corosion on them and throw off a clear contact. The fuseable link on top of the alternator is as you said a 120 amp link. When you read the link below, you will find that the fusing of this link can be caused by a bad charging system, a short from the battery, or other problems within the electrical system. It is an inexspensive part, but replacing it is not quite so easy as you think, and can make bigger, more costly problems at the same time. The price the dealer quoted is horrific. Unless it includes repairing the charging system. I wasn't sure from your post. The dealer probably dosen't know exactly what has caused the damage. A jump start could cause it. The battery could have taken a hit if the charge system shorted. It is not uncommon for mice or other little critters to make nest under the hood of cars, esspecially if you live near grassy country suburbs. It appears that your 120 amp fuseable link went first, the jump start was second, (with the fuseable link already broken, where did all the excess voltage/amps from jump go). Unkown importance of chewed wires. Car towed to dealer, battery dead, (quite likely the battery was damaged as a result of whatever took out the fuseable link and damage to charging system). The dealer is just to high on his price. Tell them you can only afford $400. I hope I've been of some help. Unfortunately, When we own exspensive cars they have exspensive repairs. 6. If your relatively new to the Club you may not have heard other members talk about buying OEM Lexus parts from Sewell Lexus in Dallas,Texus. For all Club members, Sewell gives a great discount on all of their parts. Here is an example. Over the last 48 hours, I discovered our spare remote key fob for the 2013 ES350 was MIA. Right away I felt a knot in my stomach. From this forum, I new this meant a major hit in the wallet. My wife and I have turned the house upside down and all of our pockets and coats. I've looked in both cars and under the seats and between the consloes. No luck. So, this morning I called my dealer and priced a new fob with programing. Ready?......$317 !!! Are you Sh...g me? Short story long, I logged in to Sewells to night and found the needed fob, for the same model, same year, for $161 !!!! Can you believe it???? Yeah, I know, it dosen't include programing. Who cares! I can program it with a locksmith 3 times and still save money. Sewell once again comes through. Paul
  7. Sounds like a BLAST!! Post some pics when you get back. Paul
  8. Hi Lewis, There is a forum here for members to "Buy and Sell". You will find it below the car forums. You can post the parts you have for sale there. Paul
  9. Just from my experiance, the three Es's I have owned have been very reliable. To the point that other than gas and regular maintenance, they have never had a wrench put on them. In the past, I have posted sales figures for luxury brands in the U.S. over the past years prior to 2013, Lexus has been the number one best selling Luxury brand. Much of that can be attributed to the lines reliability. Another item of operating cost we all complain about is the price of gasoline. In the past week, 89 octane gas has changed from $3.89 to $3.49. It was near $4.00 before Memorial day. Go figure.
  10. I'm a little sensitive about new tires right now. I took my wifes 2007 S80 Volvo in for service. The tech discovered a bulge in the sidewall of the left front tire. Obviously it had to be replaced. The tires on the car ar Continental Pro-Contact's. These are a low profile, sport tire. The Service Advisor said it would be around $300 for a new one. I replied "No it won't"!! I about dropped my teeth. I told them I would check other vendors and get back. This dealer has a price match program so they will match anyones price. I went home and checked Tire Rack. I called two other tire stores. After all that, there was no more than $10 difference between all of them including the dealer. I bought the tire from the dealer and they did the mount and balance for free. That was $30. The also gave a little on the tire and I paid $280. This was one expensive tire. I called Continental Tire and told them about the bulge, and asked was it covered under road hazard. "No". I told them also that the tire only had 23,000 miles on it, and it had a 60,000 mile warranty. The tread was down to 3/32'. The customer service rep said they only do anything when it gets down to 2/32'. In other word, I was screwed. Paul
  11. I wanted to check in with you Steve to see if anything new has happened. I'm with David in that I can't think of any reason this problem should be happening. In my opinion, and this is only MY opinion, Lexus has a legal responsibility under the terms of the warranty, to tell you specifecly what is the cause of the problem and specifly what you are doing that would put the fault on you. If they can't do this they are refusing to back the warranty by not resolving a known defect. Just recently, we had a warranty problem with our new town home. After several attempts to get the builder to fix a problem under warranty, we sent by Certified Mail, reciept required, to the head of the warranty dept, the Director of Sales, and the President and CEO. In the letter, we laid out the problem and history and closed with a stern notice that if these things were not resolved, further action would be taken. This worked right away. A letter from an attorney to the dealer and to Lexus might at least get their attention. Or, a letter from you to the dealer owner and Lexus corp could help. Sorry I can't do more. Paul
  12. Hi Shawn, Just a quick question. You said your cameras unit was housed in your trunk. Is it a wireless system or hardwired? I installed a back-up camera on my 2005 ES330 when I had it and thought about installing a wireless system. However, the install tech talked me out of it because they had experienced a lot of problems with radio waves interferance. Thanks Shawn, Paul
  13. Hi Edie and welcome to the LOC. If in fact your problem is the screen, I would suggest you contact "dcfish" on this site by using the Personal Message feature. If he isn't able to help, go to "sewellparts.com" for a price on a new screen. Sewell Lexus is a large dealer in Dallas, TX wich also sells parts via the internet all over the country. For Lexus Owner's Club members they give a substantial discount on parts sales. When you log in, just indentify your self as a Club member. Please come back and let us know what you found out. Paul
  14. Hi Sandy, No, I have never run across this partiular set of problems, but it's clear there is something wrong in the head unit. It would appear that your IS is still under warranty. I would take it back to the dealer and make them test it until it fails, (for example, leave it over night and have one of the techs drive it home that night. You get a loaner.). They should honor the warranty and replace the head unit or fix whatever is causing the problem at no charge. Paul
  15. Your sub should be in the rear deck behind the back seat. It is not easy to get to or replace unless your pretty knowledgable about car interiors and audio wiring. I can't speak to the IS with any first hand knowledge since I'm not familiar with the rear seat set-up in the IS. But in the ES for example, You have to remove the upper portion of the back seat and partialy remove the rear deck. It not difficult if you understand the steps you need to take. Do a search here about sub woofer replacement and or sub woofer repair...etc. You should find a post that has stepy step photos of the replacement procedure. Paul
  16. Sounds like it wasn't your day. Although I'm a little surprised you bought new tires. With your money, I would assume you'd just buy a new GX!..LOL :)
  17. I just saw that I/we forgot to answer your question regarding reprograming your RX key. The first question is why do you want to reprogram the key? Has it some how lost it's factory programing and it doesn't work, or do you just want to have a second key made? In both situations, a new or original key would need to be programed by your dealer. Your local Home Depot or hardware store can not program a Lexus key. That makes it kind of a pain if you don't live close to a Lexus dealer. Also the worst part in your situation is that it is not cheap to have the key programed. Last time I read on this site about someone getting a new key it was over $100. My advice would be to call your Lexus dealer, explain the problem and get a quote on the cost. Let us know how things turn out! Paul
  18. This is an article reviewing a study by CarMD covering 2012's most and least exspensive states for car repairs. There were a couple of suprises in cost increases over 2011. Worth the read. For the full report go to CarMD. Is your state mentioned? http://autos.aol.com/article/most-least-expensive-states-car-repair-2013/
  19. Any audio system has it's design limits. That is to say that the speakers when driven to their maximum handling capacity, will over load the voice coils/motors and cause distortion. This is all detirmend by the original design specifications. The Mark Levinson system is one of, and some say the best, car audio system. The link below contains information on the newly redesigned ML system being launched this year. However, if you want to listen at ear bleeding levels consistently (lol) You may have to find a way to replace the sub woofer. At the same time you need to work with your dealers tech who knows the system to see if they can help. They won't charge you. It's under warranty. 20. Thanks Allan for the information and heads up. Too many, when faced with an exspensive repair, will just leave the dealer and go home and fume. Believing that its just an example of how a Lexus dealer tries to rip you off. Yes, their are problem dealers out there, but by far the excellent ones overwhelm the others. To other members; Like Allan, talk with your dealer about options avaiable to fix your problem. If your not satisfied, call Lexus Customer Care and speak to the people who handle customer/dealer issues. ( go to Lexus.com) Ask you dealers service advisor to talk to the dealers General Manager. If you say nothing and just walk away assuming their out to get you, check your grip on reality.
  21. Hi Anita and welcome to the LOC. When you click on the "Forum's" tab, you will see a forum for RX models about 2/3rds down the page. Simply pick the section that matches your model and post your questions or answers. We look forward to hearing from you! Paul
  22. Hey Steve. Welcome to the LOC. Your pics didn't download so try again would you. Your's is a strange sounding problem. Personnaly, I've never heard of the wood trim delaminating as you desribe and in just certain places again and again. I think you have two issues. One is the issues of what is the physical reason why this happens. A tech problem. The other, and more important, is what is Lexus going to do to fix it. This is the part that needs solving first. Has the dealership's Service manager contacted Lexus tech support? Have you called or e-mailed Lexus customer service and laid out your problem and it's timeline tor them? Have you talked to or has the dealerships general manager been involved? There are several routes availabe to you to apply pressure for a final resolution to this fiasco. The strangest part of you experiance with this dealer is their replacing the trim four times and then deciding to stop without any reolution. What I mean is 1. They replace the trim the first time. 2. It goes bad, so they decide to replace it again. 3. That goes bad. Now here is the place that one would think the dealer would say, hold on. We have a bigger problem than we thought. They get Lexus involved. They dance naked around a campfire while chanting under a full moon. They do anything to find an answer. But no. They put on yet another trim kit without knowing anymore than before. When it craps out they just tell the customer that since we, the dealer, don't know how to fix it, will blame you and see you on your way. Send the pics and hopefully somebody will have seen this before. Paul
  23. Hi Dave and welcome to the LOC. I am curious about the fuse panel location on your IS. Since your steering wheel is on the right, which side of the car is the fuse box located? Thanks, Paul
  24. When things hit rock bottom, the only diredtion left to go is up. Not now, but this too shall pass.
