  1. I think I have a similar issue. It is a very intermittent clunking noise that I can feel in the steering wheel. The same noise seems to happen very occasionally when I am turning and hit a bump and seems to come from the passenger side. I am thinking it could be my ball joints. I have replaced my upper strut mounts, my strut rod bushings and my front sway bar bushings.
  2. Interesting. Many of the roads here were re-paved over the summer.
  3. If they made it hot, I would've needed a jump start several times by now!
  4. I was washing the car today, and I noticed quite a large amount of tar/grease on the passenger side of the car, most heavily around the bottom of the front wheel well. It appears to have splattered toward the rear and sides of the car. I'm thinking some part has started leaking or perhaps I have blown a strut. Does this sound right? How could I tell?
  5. Where can I find the maintenance schedule (beside the maintenance manual, which I don't believe I have)?
  6. Bah, if my Coach leather ever goes bad, how will I replace it?!
  7. You can find the same mats here. I might try it. http://www.amazon.com/APACHE-MILLS-INC-Sim...7904&sr=8-2
  8. I would have taken advantage of the CARS system in your situation, too!
  9. Yeah, it's definitely the best boulevard cruiser you can buy! From that angle, the LS looks fantastic!
  10. Well, I sold my Porsche to a friend right before I went to the Tail of the Dragon (Deals Gap, TN). I ended up taking the Lexus. It was a lot of fun! I was following my friend in the Porsche and another friend in a '99 BMW 323i and I was able to keep up with them no problem when putting the tranny in "2" and traction control off. However, my tires were howling like crazy (Yoko Avid Touring S), and the amount of body roll was insane! This car clearly is not designed for this kind of driving, although it could have been much worse. Nevertheless, I had a great time, and after that, I enjoyed a nice cruise on the Cherahola Skyway. The attached photo was purchased from MoonShine photo.
  11. Why is it so expensive on the Lexus? I've had shops replace my timing belt/water pump on other vehicles for only $600 including parts.
  12. That's what I want to know. Luckily I have the outlet in the glove box to serve as a backup.
  13. It could be strut rods, but don't overlook strut tower mounts.
  14. Hi guys, I am experiencing intermittent problems with my front cigarette lighter. Every now and then, I cannot get any accessories plugged into the front cigarette lighter to work. I also cannot get the cigarette lighter to heat up (I don't smoke, but it still doesn't work!). This is about half of the time. I suspect a bad ground. Does anyone know where the grounding wire is? THANKS!
  15. The RX isn't going to be nearly as refined as the LS400. It's probably not even that great in the snow, anyway.
  16. Why would you do it? Not doing the 90k service even 40k miles overdue is a sign of neglect.
  17. Mine doesn't have it either. I guess we're just supposed to be smart and not leave it open by mistake! :D
  18. I was always curious about that. I wasn't aware that there was a time limit for Lexus timing belts--the service people just kept telling me 90k miles.
  19. I have heard rumors that a bad coolant temperature sensor can cause the problems you're describing without throwing a CEL or error code. Do a search on this forum and you might find out some more info.
  20. Hey, that "shaved" look is popular these days. :P
  21. I'd sell you my 1997 LS400 Coach Edition if you gave me a good price. I'm kind of on the edge about selling it, though. I'm located about 4 hours from DC but I visit DC frequently so if you wanted to see the car, I could let you know when I'd be in town next. See this link for pics. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=56711
  22. I use Mobil1 5W-30 and PureOne filter. I plan on doing it at 7.5k intervals.
  23. What's up with those wacky seat covers? Not too shabby!
