  1. Well, is there another MAF that will work in my car? Toyota?
  2. Throttle body cleaning? Done a couple months ago. IACV? Cleaned as well. I was going off of the ECU codes. But I will re-check the codes again and see if I get another set of codes. And I can check the converters as well. Any other ways I can check if I have coil issues?
  3. It started with the car stuttering at idle occasionally. Only at idle. Then the check engine light came on and would go off when I reached 25 mph. So I ran the codes. Codes 24 and 41, I think. It has been a while since I ran them, but that was the conclusion.
  4. Well, after everything, I have decided to replace the the MAF but I would like some suggestions on its replacement. Should I: 1. Go new ($1200 from dealer, NOT my first choice) 2. Aftermarket $400) 3. Salvage ($?) 4. Another option As with everyone money is tight but I need to get this replaced. Any advice will be appreciated.
  5. Ok. Throttle body clena and thet took away a lot of my idling issues....but not all. How do I clean the IACV? MAF? Mass airflow sensor? Location and cleaning instructions on that one as well, please?
  6. 93 LS400, 198K. I was having some intermittent iding issues a couple of years back, but never like this. While standing at a light the car will sit between 500-750, then dip to 250 for a second, then back up to normal. It will do this 2-3 times in about 25 seconds then die. It does not happen at every light, but often enough that I thought I would see what this forums would say. Gas? Idle control? Something else? Any help wouldbe greatly aprreciated. DuaneG
  7. Well, I USED to trust the guy. Now I don't know. I don't think I have chrome wheels.....
  8. UPDATE: Well it took a couple of hours and about 4" of duct tape, but I it fixed. The clip that held the post in the hole on the handle broke off. So I taped the post into the hole. Tiny opening and could only work with 1 hand, but it is still holding tight.
  9. Just went with non-OEM rotors on the front and they are doing fine.
  10. So my driver rear tire keeps losing air. Pressure lasts about 4-5 days. No holes. I talk to my mechanic and he tells me that it is a common thing for my Lexus version to lose air between the rim and tire. And I can have the rim fixed (resurfaced or something) for $100 per tire. Is this a real problem? Please advise. DuaneG
  11. Thanks. I pulled the panel and found the problem. The bar that connects to the outside door handle will not stay placed though its hole on the handle. Any suggestions? Do you guys/girls know to what I am referring?
  12. My outside front passenger door handle will not open the door. But the door will open from the inside. What do I need to fix? DuaneG
  13. Just my 2 cents, but I replaced when they started squealing. I went OEM in the rear ($90) and non OEM in the front ($40), and no lubricant- but they squeal occasionally. And watch for the sensors attached to the pads with clips. Lost a clip to one and the "replace brakes" light is still on the dash. D
  14. Final answer: corrosion. One of the connectors (red wire / green wire) was corroded. changed out the paddle connectors and it worked twice. Now it stopped working. I think the green wire is the culprit. Any suggestions?
  15. Let's try this again. I am trying to determine if the motor is going out on the driver-side rear window or just the switch. The switch brings the window down fine, just not up. I had to pull up on the switch very hard to make the window come up, previously, but now it is not working at all. Down has never been- and is still not- a problem. The drive master switch does the same thing (down, but not up), but I researched on this site and come to the conclusion that driver door issue is not related to the passenger door issue. Please advise.
