  1. No biggie. The best is the rav4. It has a real wth was toyota thinking with it's o2 sensor setup. :) Same engines as a camry right? Well they jsut decided to put two pre cat o2 sensors right infront of the cat, and TWO post cat sensors right after the cat. This... on a single pipe exhaust 4 cylinder hahahahahahahahaha Even I have a hard time remembering which one is bank one sensor one and sensor 2 on the rav4 lol!
  2. There is always 1 o2 sensor per exhaust manifold (two pre-cat) (Barring the 90-91 2vz-fe which has one y-pipe mounteds sensor, and the 88-89 2vz-fe which has no closed-loop, so no o2 sensor). Past that, obd-II, and CA/NY emessions cars have a post cat, heated lambda sensor. All o2 sensors are the same, their specifications are very tight. <cough> soldiering and heat shrinking a wire is better than the damned crimping that Toyota uses to put the pins in their exterior electrical harnesses. <cough> Bank 1 is the: rear bank, (firewall), odd bank, RIGHT HAND bank Bank 2 is the opposite of what i just said Sensor 1 reffers to a main, manifold mounted sensor Sensor 2 reffers to the post cat sensor
  3. SW, ya. The cars get infinately better, but they stay with the same rough spring & dampening combinations, same general steering effort & ratios. It would probably be hard to tell the differance between a 100% restored 97 and a brand new 06. Based solely off feel when driving. Which is fine and dandy. They have to age sometimes, so they might as well do so gracefully!
  4. Take it to the track while you have it. Post some slips. ;)
  5. I can't recall running into one on any of the v6's. But if the oil was not changed, or moisture is in the oil... Ya - that'll kill them.
  6. 1) Find a 94-96 es/camry in a junkyard & pull it yourself 2) Get taprecycling to sell you one (call them) 3) Go through the normal junkyard networks You can also buy some 268*, .310 lift 1mz-fe camshafts for $750. That'll make it run awhole lot harder mid-high rpm. Stock Toyota cams are a total ripoff LoL! Horrible, horrible things if you like performance.
  7. It's akin to having a thread like this & you not opening your mouth. Because everyone knows it's the exact same thing regardless of what you spew. In other words.... It's the identical DENSO part, just without the $40 wiring harness that costs them about a penny to make install.
  8. AFAIK that isn't a code. OBD-II codes start at P0100.
  9. Depends on the year & whoever had the bis deal with lexus at the time. AFAIK it went: Goodyear Eagle RS's Bridgestones Toyo's Of which toyo is owned by goodyear. :P
  10. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker/?...RTER&PageSync=4 61.99 from autozone for the denso universal. Cut the harness off the old o2 sensor & put it on the new one. (Soldier + heatshrink > crimp or twist + tape)
  11. Taller the sidewall, the more the tire absorbs. Doesn't make since with a width increase, as the taller the sidewall, the less grip, and more prone 2 rolling over. You're also going to throw the accuracy of the ECU off. (You're trying to cheat afew miles off the re-le when ya sell it lmao!) AFA width. Measure the actual width of the rim & get back to us 'cause dude the car's been out since late april - nobody knooooows LoL! The famous Miata tire size calculator
  12. I've never done one 100% empty, but you recharge from the low pressure side AFAIK. You ALWAYS do it when it has some charge on the low pressure side. Anyone else?
  13. Steel bolt into aluminim, 14lb-ft of torque. I.E. not alot. Ya, you need a little sealer around where the cam goes. RTV.
  14. They always have AFAIK we go, take a look at the stampings on your struts. KYB, not Toyota. ;) They also make the front suspension shock absorber.
  15. Really the gasket is a "it'll only go one way" type of thing. Check that repair manual you got last time. My engine is alittle different, but basically. 1) You take the wires & hoses off the front valve cover that are in the way 2) You unbolt ithe valve cover & pry it up (Note, Toyota was smart when they made the engine. They installed a 10mm allen bolt in the top of the valve cover so that you can pry the valve cover off without muh effort!) 3) You'll have just the very front part of the engine taken off (I had alot more off in this pic, but that isn't a concern for you). This to this
  16. Yeeesh, I was quoted $400 years ago to replace both my axles LoL!
  17. Seperate. The front gasket is actually easy to do it yourself. You need a 10mm socket & wratchet. Once you take the ignition coils & the little plastic engine cover off (Allen wrench, I forget maybe 5, or 7mm). The valve cover is only held on by 8x 10mm bolts. Take it off, throw the old gasket away, clean the surfaces with rubbing alcohol to get all the oil off the surfaces. Installation is the reverse of removal. :) You're asking why I just told you to do it yourself. 1) it'll take you an hour 2) the gasket is about $12 by itself VS they're gonna charge you an hour, or two of labor + the gasket. 3) i remember you... you're cool like that lol!
  18. http://lexus-parts.com/partlist.asp?SubCat...=113&ModelID=49 $176.72 for one strut, and they don't even label it correctly. Typical for a Lexus dealer. TN there are two versions of the KYB-GR2's avalible. 1 is slightly better than the other - which you can get for under the cost of what Toyota sells them. The cars all come with basic KYB-GR2's in them. Tokico blue's are semi popular. They're a love / hate strut.
  19. Propane... Doesn't add power on a N/A gas engine. It gives less power. The 125shot of n2o is easy. Just upgrade the pump, upgrade the fuel supply (management), and spray it. It's a Toyota v6, that means it's far overbuilt... Tho 125shot is pushing a 1mz-fe to it's brink. They don't make >350bhp with any reliability, and they're not reliable at all under F/I when not given gobs of fuel. The stock pistons are total crap.
  20. Yes, that's a load of crap leftover from the 70's. Like... Drilling holes in brake rotors because "brake pads give gas when you heat them".
  21. You can buy kyb-gr2's off ebay for 250-275. Buying them from Lexus is downright stupid. They charge infinately more. As always, Toyota is not as bad as lexus, but still unjustafiably more expencive than just buying & shipping them off the internet. Somce things... You can come out OK buying from Toyota, or have atleast one reason under the sun to do it. Struts are not... Struts don't just unexpectidly "blow". You've got *plenty* of time to notiece a strut going & go, "hey... My struts are blown! I need to get on ebay with $350 & buy struts, strut mounts, boots. Maybe I'll even throw down another $150-225 for some nice springs too". I wouldn't want 2 get a quote form lexus for that stuff.
  22. The OEM part is KYB. Get aftermarket KYB.
  23. Change the valve cover gaskets. Do a compression check. At the moment, I highly doubt you have weak rings.
  24. Do a short ATF interval on the new transmission (Buy the gallon jug of supertech atf @ walmart for cheap so you don't go wasting money). Adding an auxillary cooler would be the bestest thing you could ever do to keep that from happening again. :) We can't say that enough!
  25. Save money, but want the best parts? Toyota. Otherwise, a good indy shop that does imports. Get the tires & check the alignment & balance.
