  1. Hello, put some silicone spray directly on the rubber and it should alleviate the problem to a certain extent, but wont make the air noise completely go away.
  2. My car had the same code, one of the spark plug coils was bad, I went to lexus to get it fixed. I didnt want to go a local car shop and have them fix it by trial and error, but you can save some money and just do it yourself, after you have the code read out, its either the spark plug or the coil thats bad.
  3. hey I own a 99, es 300, my car hesitates between first and second gear shift. It did the same thing 3 months ago then the problem went away, not since yesterday its been happening again. any suggestions or advices pls?
  4. I didnt check the oil, let me do that.
  5. When I glanced at the thread title, "Tranny Skips", I chuckled and thought ... "Well, probably the more effeminate ones do.". B) Maybe it's from the nightmares after my wife dragged me to see the movie "The Crying Game" in 1992, but I overwhelmingly prefer the word "transmission" to describe an automobile gear box -- please see the politically incorrect attachment and forgive me. :o Regarding your slipping transmission, common advice is to do a few "drain and refills" of the transmission fluid to see if it helps. Does your RX have a lot of miles on it and has the transmission been serviced regularly? Thanks for replying, I got 110 miles on my car. I never did any service for the tranmission. what do I do ? I was told its best not to drain and refill the transmission fluid.
  6. Hello, I would appreciate if someone could help me, my transmission skipped from reverse, and first gear a few times, and then after second gear. once i got on the highway it was fine. and then it didnt happen again. so now I wonder what it is? is my transmission dying?
  7. Hello, I am curious to know what I should do, tonight my car didnt start and I figured it was the battery coz it did this last year also during snow and freezing temps. I bought a new battery last year, this year again we have frigid temp (tonight it is 15f), but when the triple guy came to give me a jump he said looks like the starter and not the battery, he brought in a rod cranked the starter while simulstaneously chargin the battery as well. So the car did start after that and it started one hour later also. so I was thinking if its the started the car wouldnt have started again.Could he have been just trying to get me to go to this mechanic shop, coz he gave me his shops card and said to tell his name when I go there. so what do I do just get the battery replaced again or get the starter changed also? any advise, suggestions or instructions are highly appreciated. Thanks.
  8. Most probably bank 1 or 2 O2 sensor unless label under hood specifies california EPA compliance. If complies with CA standards the sensor is an air/fuel ratio sensor (same location as O2 sensors). I recomment getting parts from CarQuest and instaliing yourself or having independent garage install. You will save tons on part and labor. The CEL must be turned off be erasing code. Hope this helps! Here is a short link to P0171 Thanks so much guys, I did change one of the sensors, right infront of the alternator, but the light is stillon and I get the same code, so could it be another sensor in the front or is the mef ?
  9. Hello, I got a check engine light on, the code I got was po0171, system too lean (fuel trim), now what does this code mean ? what do I need to get changed ? pls I appreciate any kind of help, I called the lexus dealer and they dont have appointments till two weeks from now. thanks.
  10. yeah I did take out the one after the engine, so how do I know which sensor is bad in the first place?
  11. hello, I posted about my oxygen sensors before and thanks for all you guys helping me out, I got the oxygen sensor from the dealer, but the connection where the wires connect on it is diff than the one on my car already, so did my mechanic open the wrong sensor how many sensors are on the front of the car , or is it just the wiring problem ? pls any help is highly appreciated as always.
  12. Thank you so much to all of u guys, u saved me expenses, I truly appreciate all the help.
  13. Hello all, I got a lexus 98 es 300, my check engine light is on, so I took the car to autzone to get a computer code. I was told of code 0170. I saw on the foums here on a different thread that its oxygen sensor, but how do I know which oxygen sensor to change ? I know there are 4 sensors. I appreciate any help.
  14. Hey thats the code I got from autozone also, I read on the forums code table that it means the fuel trim etc...so u think my car has faulty oxygen sensors also ? if so where do I go to get it fixed?
  15. Ok I will go to autozone and get the codes checked, thanks so much. Hello my genius buddies, I got the code from autozone 0170, saying fuel trim or something, so I still dont know what it means and what i should do ? pls help.
