  1. what you are saying , just going in a circle saying the alternator is key ? I still am not sure why you bothered to post then since it did not reflect on the original question posted ,but rather than to correct me?
  2. sorry i soooo disagree . as would most technicians, not mechanics professors or anyone else who is well versed in electrical wiring schematics or other automotive system designers. the battery is used for running the cars system when the engine is off starting the engine and keep power supplied to various systems for memory and sub power situations. It is also used as a buffer in the overall system for power spikes of high and low voltage to lessen to immediate drain and load on the alternator as it is used as a distribution device, the battery is a link in the overall power chain but definatly not the Achilles heel of the system. As a dead alternator will kill a car but a dead battery will hamper its overall performance. It would only be detrimental if the battery was wired in series but not parallel But since the battery is can be taken out of the link and the car will continue running just as strong as without it ,it wouldn;t make sense to place so much emphasis and reliance on the battery for running the car. i am not sure why you would believe the battery runs a car since it is only a storage device and not an electrical producer ? it just wouldn't make any sense?
  3. there is a really big threa in general maintance on octane levels if you find it is ok to run on regular gas then go ahead. i don't think the toyota engineers were in bed with the gas companies to lie and make you buy premium. So who am i to reengineer my car to lower standards put it this way. we all know premium gas is better. it is just how much better for each car but does it really matter to save a buck in a tank of gas when it is going through all the most inportant and expensive parts of the car? i get the best milage on this board and i drive hard 600 km a tank ,but i use it from full to almost empty. all highway and i am pushing 900-1000km of straight hwy long trips. with 1 person in the car and minimal baggage. you decide
  4. the first problem is the actuator in the door not working.you need to open the door to trouble shoot it. i don;t think it is a matter of the window but the main drivers master control . By pressing the switch you are probably reposistion in the board under it to make contact. oem mats may still be available at the dealer.call tehm
  5. go to lexus and register you as the new owner and tehn request a new owners manual
  6. If the system starts to make funny blipping noises and queitly disapears tehn you have a major drop in volatage while driving. The battery is highly unlikely. The alternaot is key suspect as it provides all the power during driving. Did you turn all the acessories off when the power started to fade? including the lights? And no the changing of light bulbs will not cause the power to die unless you knocked a wire off the battery terminal.
  7. There are thermostats in the seat for overheating. I am thinking they may be the biggest trouble we all have. I recently replaced all the wiring and relays to my heaters and tehy got better but it usually takes a while. I am thinking the thermostatic metal in the modlue has become dirty and not creating a good flow of current. I plan one day to take apart the module to see if i can repair it and get my seats to be consistently hot. I love when they do get hot but it is usually only on a long highway drive. I am also thinking it may be involved with the alternator not producing a full 14.4 volts all the time as mine sometimes does.
  8. are you sure? i thought the earlier ones had a clearance issue with the front calipers?
  9. i thought i replied to this before ,oh well i use the 3 step wax/polish from mothers the prep/cleaner the polish then the wax. it makes the finish amazing and clean after as well as protecting it from coffee spills./
  10. maf sensor ,air leak or distributer and cap
  11. that price is unbelivably low you got lucky or they forgot to do some of the service
  12. starts the transmission in second gear for less slip
  13. you have confused me with the Even before I replaced the oxygen sensor, the © monitor (Catalytic Converter Monitor) would constantly be running (flashing in the display of the EQUUS code reader). I presumed before replacing the sensor, that it would be set (finish the monitor cycle) once the oxygen sensor was replaced. However, that is not the case, I've driven a couple of trips since replacing the sensor and that thing just keeps running is another code comeing up? there are 3 sensors 2 before the cat and one after the cat. it just might be plugged from raw fuel or damaged
  14. I use paint scratch remover ,polish and wax on mine and it looks amazing after.
  15. i would agree with the driveshaft play in the bushings or pins. Also you might want your suspension checked for excessive play in the rear the minimal amount of pull of engine braking can cause the suspension to add a new angle to the driveshaft and cause an annoying unharmonic balance of the shaft. Try going to normal speed and repeating the problem in drive and then in neutral to see if it changes.
  16. do any strange lights on the dash also light up? it might be the bad electrical ground located on the trunk arm . The wires chafe and cause a short. Also when you changed the alternator a year ago was it because your powersteering pump was leaking>? If so then it may have destroyed yet another alternator.
  17. armour all is great for making those stupid spots. i had them on my grand prix years ago and my wifes sunfire has them as she occasionally cleans and found the junk somewhere in my garage, I never use it anymore, but it comes frmo overspray that is not wiped and causes the plastic to blemish on the outside .I couldn;t figure it out either for a while. meguires has a good plastic polish that is amazing use that and it should be gone.
  18. just a thought it may have een tire pressures not the tires. i have the same kind of problems in my cars if i have low pressure.if i raise it a little above the recommened levels a few psi the problems all go away and the ride smoothens out as well.
  19. Wow lexus didnt; wait long to unbag this one. That is so different from head office. i like the car. But am not sure why they droppped the bomb so early?
  20. Get a good fuel flush . One that uses a machine to clean injectors. It might be the cold start nijector being plugged which is common. ALso it might be you need to clean your throttle body to remove carbon deposits.
  21. you can post more than one picture in a post.as long as it is already hosted by another site or this one. besides just post another post in a thread if it is a problem and it is solved with just a few more mouse clicks.
  22. they are still happening every second wednesday of the month in mississauga brittania and mavis (krispey Kreme parking lot) and scarborough last saturday of the month tim hortons parking lot at kennedy commons behind Rona. both start at 8pm but people usually arrive about 8:30.
  23. when is the last tiem the car started? Is this a new engine in the car? i am pretty sure after 96 or so all 1mz-fe engines changed the coil pack configurations? also which bank is cold ,you didn;t mention?
