I'll start. 1994 Es 300 ,dark mettalic green with purple and brown pearls painted all one colour . Just made 200 000 km on Saturday. I pay $1000 a year insurance for full coverage and am 28 . 1 previous owner, bought in 96 from a Lotus dealer for $28 000 Canadian,has both options of the cd changer and sunroof. The cold weather package is standard in canada which is heated seats,mirrors,headlight washers and block heater. I also pay for lexus roadside every year. all prices mentioned are canadian. 05/98 replaced all bulbs on a/c, radio and gauges for the backlighting. 10/00 lexus replaced the motor mounts as it shifted hard,and all the wiper motors switches and everything else as it would not go back to rest position after the stalked was tuned off. Just after the 7 year/110 000 km warrenty time ran out. 08/01 Timing belt and water pump done from a Lexus tech on his time for $250 cash belt and pump cost $150 . 2 hours 09/03 power steering pump did myself , pump was $200. 4 hours 10/03 cv boot right side ripped ,bought a kit from lexus to replace all parts for $100. 3 hours 12/03 do tranny flushes every 50 000 km ( did it last week at walmart) $40. 2 hours 09/03 new dogbone engine mount redone in ureathane to never break again ( make them myself) 06/03 New power and ground wires and battery( optima yellowtop) made new wires with gold connectors and 4 gauge wires. 1 hour Once a year i vacume out the interior temp sensor ,located below to the right of the steering wheel that has some horizontal lines on it to remove the dust. It has a return air flow to suck interior air in and measure the temp.Never replaced the a/c filter as i don't have one an don't feel like wasting the money. airbag light is on as i had a friend who though he knew how to remove the wheel ,screw it up. WHile i was working on the engine. I use mobil one synthetic ( 0-30/40 winter) ( 15w 50 summer )for the engine and use an engine flush every 2 years, It keeps the engine well lubed and i have the least amount of valve train tapping i ave seen in a 1mz-fe engine ( camry or es 300 v6) All the mods are in the link below for Cold air intake/ exhuast ,brakes, rims , suspension ,body kit , stereo , lighting , tv ,nokia in car handsfree kit and other upgrades.

yup the a/c system was decompressing making that funny " boiling water in a pot "noise for a few seconds off and on.

I have yet to find a common problem with the RX other than an owner neglect. So relax you have a long happy future to look forward to forgetting your mechanics name and location.

They work amazing i have used tehm on my wifes sunfire my civic ,lexus and the list goes on. I use the penzoil one they all are pretty much the same The lifters getting unstuck makes the biggest power and noise difference.

No problem . It is defintly an aftermarket alarm. It is flashing fast as it is now armed and needs to go back nito valet. Look under the dash around the pedals or console and around there definatly is a switch or button . Find it swithc it and turn the key and it will stay deactivated for a while. Don;t worry about finding the alam brain as you won;t be able to do anything with it. It also depends on wether the alarm has an open or closed cuicit for the starter kill. If it is normally open relay then you have to keep it connected until it is replaced. In others that are normally closed then only when the alarm arms will it activate the relay to cut off the starter. In the later case if you found the brain then you could disconnect the harneses and not bother again with it. But much better to leave it to a pro.

You idle up cuicit is not working. It basically works from the pump to raise the idle when turning to run the pump. If the engine is hot and running you should see the fluid pushing to the top of the reseviuor unless tehre is a blocakge.

Other than the generic things of rims and tv's i haven't seen anything

Belive me for a couple of bucks you can;t compare the 2 in fit an finish and materials. Lexus oem all the way. And don't use gasket maker on top of the gaskets.

WHy waste all that time ,just buy a bottle of engine flush and run it then replace the oil (and filter) with cheap stuff for a week then replace with synthetic to make sure all the flush is gone.

You aren;t the first owner of the car i am guessing , I also would say a previous owner had an aftermarket alarm. IT is STILL in there. You need toe find the extra fuse or wiring and disconnect it. I am guessing it was in valet for a while. Try looking for an extra switch or button under the dash. If you find one tehn open the door when the the lights aren;t flashing , find the button or switch and press it , then Turn the key forward and it should stop byu returning to valet mode. Then have a alarm shop either remove it find replacement remotes or put a new one in.. Did you ever have a llittle red light in the car that was always on no matter what. Not the regular lexus one on the cluster bezel.

I learned from a supra guy ( yes i know it isn't the same supra engine) that the v8 starter can be acess by using a few extensions and sliding them down under the mnifold with a light and a ray of hope to get to the 2 bolts rather than removing the manifold . Then pulling it out the back of the engine. I have never tried this but it might make sense to someone who has torn it down.

There are 2 kinds of line level adapters passive ( non powered) and active ( using 12vdc to run) the passive ones are ok for bass but are still crap the active ones take the speaker wires and convert them to rca plugs and clean up the signal while upping the voltage slightly to reduce loop noise. I spent a sh** load on a pair of crystal lines for my ES until i changed the deck. no i have no need for them for now i might sell them for $250 as they cost me well over $400 when i first got them. I also have a face plate if you are interested for a 99 and up ES to replace the headunit they cost about $250 to have one custom designed to hold a deck. Probably $150

The liscence plate light should be wired in with the regular night lights no seperate cuircit And yes you need to remove the whole light to acess it.
