  1. Since your RX is new, you may want to have the dealership's service person tell you whether that sound can be "coded out" by them or whether you can do it, yourself.
  2. Anytime, Arthur! I'm glad it worked out.👍 Dave
  3. My RX400h was "Made in Japan" but it was not registered in Japan. It was certainly imported from Japan. I did find this:
  4. Maybe try this:
  5. Hello, Charles. I don't think any part you buy, except tires and batteries have more than a year warranty, do they? If you buy a $4000 TV from Best Buy, the manufacturer's warranty is probably 1 or 2 years at the most. This is 2023; the days of inexpensive parts left the station, long ago.
  6. You may want to ask the dealership parts department person to identify the relays by looking at the digital assembly to which that person has access.
  7. Greetings, Marc. Did the dealership reboot the system? You can do this by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and waiting for 30 seconds before reconnecting it.
  8. I found several potential causes:
  9. I found this, but one version listed a 2011 ES 350 and the other, a 2008.
  10. Wider tires will not help on wet roads. The grip you get is related to the tire design. For example, look at this rating sheet and specifically, the category labeled "Hydroplaning resistance" A couple of tires are rated higher than all the others.
  11. The cost to replace the starter on your 2002 Lexus ES 300 can vary depending on your location and the service provider. Here are some estimates: According to YourMechanic, the average cost for a Lexus ES300 Car Starter Repair is $241, with $146 for parts and $95 for labor. RepairSmith estimates the cost for a 2002 Lexus ES300 starter replacement to be between $265 - $323. Please note that these are just estimates and the actual cost may vary. It’s always a good idea to get a few quotes from different service providers to ensure you’re getting the best price.
  12. Among the potential causes of non-compliant NOx readings are: Misfire condition Malfunctioning or improperly adjusted EGR valve Failed oxygen sensor Leak in exhaust tubing upstream of converter Excessive carbon deposits in combustion chamber Improper spark advance Blocked coolant passage Overly lean air-fuel mixture Damaged cold air duct Failed or malfunctioning catalytic converter Corroded or damaged engine sensor electrical connections Please note that while a failed catalytic converter will contribute to high NOx readings, the failure in itself may have been caused by some other upstream performance problem. In all cases, it is crucial to identify the root cause of the problem before blaming the converter.
  13. Alex, do you have a factory service manual. It should have a nice troubleshooting section with step-by-step testing procedures.
  14. What model of vehicle do you have?
  15. The bypass hose in a 2003 Lexus ES 300 is part of the vehicle’s cooling system. It plays a crucial role in the circulation of coolant. If your Lexus ES 300 has been either leaking coolant or overheating, you could have a faulty cooling system bypass line1. The bypass hose ensures that the coolant bypasses the radiator and flows directly into the engine, which allows the engine to reach its operating temperature more quickly. This is particularly useful in cold weather, as it helps the vehicle’s heater to warm up more quickly. If the bypass hose is damaged or malfunctioning, it could lead to issues with engine temperature regulation. It’s always recommended to replace a faulty coolant hose with a genuine Lexus part. So if your engine is leaking coolant at a rapid pace, you may not want to drive it to the dealership.
  16. I would call Lexus customer service to verify. I always thought that it was 10 years from original owner's date of purchase.
  17. Our Lexus is 18+ years old and up until two years ago, was used every day. The leather seats are still fine. When I bought a used Mazda Miata, 13 years ago, there was a tear in the driver's fabric seat. The owner told me that it was his fault, since he had something in his back pocket that cause the damage. Perhaps your dealership suspected that a person was the cause of the tear and not simply because the seat was worn thin enough to tear.
  18. Have you already checked rockauto.com?
  19. I've been adding Chevron Techron at every oil change. It should help to keep the valves clean. So far, no problems.
  20. Is your battery okay? How old is it?
  21. It doesn't look normal, based upon photos such as this one.
  22. Hello, Allen. So what was the service person's suggestion as to how this omission will be resolved? Perhaps it need to go "up the ladder".
  23. I think you really need to go to an alignment shop that also is very familiar with and can replace suspension components. Our RX400h has a worn-out control arm bushing that may be affecting its alignment.
  24. So there is no coolant in the oil? Does the car smoke all the time?
